@@StudioonaStick Hi there Joe. Nice to find out your name and see ya. I've been following and watching your series on the Tascam 8 track. I have the DP-03, but your videos are better than any I've watched. The 008 is almost exactly like mine. You've given me a lot of tips with bouncing, punching in, and more!! The way you explain things makes it sound simple. Thanks again man!!

Great vid Joe and yes you should check your mixess on as many sources as you can. My usual mix process is Sony MDR 7506 headphones then check the mix on my Dynaudio 5A studio monitors then cheap comp speakers then i load it into You Tube unlisted and listen on my phone. 9 times out of 10 the mix is exactly the way i want it on all sources. And remember always mix with freah ears not after you have been blasting your ears for hours Lol. Cheers Joe and look forward to doing another collab with you again Ohh i figured out a way to hit that cam slider remote with a stick, I am going to post a vid of how i did it, Works great. Thanks for the idea.

      Thanks Bobby.
      Absolutely a solid process.
I always add earbuds too because they are so predominant.
I bought 7506's a couple of years ago when I discovered Andrew Sheps lol
I've got Kali Lone Pine 6's, decent monitors.
Yeah I'm guilty of hearing abuse, I love loud music too much...
I'll get with you soon on a colab, thanks.
I was joking about the remote, but if it works and you don't destroy it, cool!

😂Solid advice. I was in my car with my friend and we were listening to a song he recorded when he said "what the heck! the tom toms are NOT that loud!" And that's when I realized how bad my car speakers were!

I'm glad that you and your friend are recording music!
Like I said, take that mix to a bunch of other devices before you judge your car speakers...
      Thanks for watching.

@@StudioonaStick I did. It was only my terrible car speakers over emphasizing the tom toms in the mix. Thanks again. 😊

@@toronado455 My truck stereo is awful. There's probably an eq in there somewhere, but I'm purposely leaving it bad as a reference lol

I use both. Its tricky going back and forth w/earphones and two monitor sets.Definetly having a good ear is essential.I spend hrs doing playbacks over and over and making sure the levels are the best I can get them(knock on wood) Especially the bass and vocals.Yeah it can get exhausting sometimes.🗽🎧📼

By the way I think the song that you mix down sounded pretty damn good to me from what I could hear it sounded really good and I wasn't even using my earbuds but I am using my Galaxy Notebook 10 plus phone

      Thanks!
You can get very good recordings with the Tascams.
The most critical thing is to get the best signal/sound going in because you are obviously limited to post work.

I'm getting ready to start recording I'm only using the Tascam DP 04 I've never recorded before and then I'm finding out all of a sudden now do I have to use TRS cables only but I could use unbalanced cables the point is I'm using my mixer which is made by Mackie vlz3 4 track I guess my only question to you would be if you're familiar with those types of 4 track mixing boards I just want to go out of the quarter inch main output from the Mackie into the Tascam I wonder if I can use unbalanced quarter inch guitar cables or do I have to order TRS male-to-male off of eBay before I start recording I hope I don't have to do that any advice or thoughts would help

    • @StudioonaStick

No you can use regular TS cables no problem.

    • @StudioonaStick
      @StudioonaStick  2 роки тому +3

The inputs on the Tascam are not balanced, the outputs on the Mackie are irrelevant since the shield of a TS will just bridge across each connection even if the outputs are TRS, which they probably are but that's fine.
