@@G4Soul Try all 3 (if triangle honeycomb) or 2 sides (squares) for foundation placement, usually fixed by building off multiple directions. Additionally, I have found that your location (player location) can impact this, often times it will be red no matter what, then if I jump and look at a weird angle itll be blue
i upgraded my walls and roof to metal, and now it doesnt work, gonna try to upgrade foundation when i have the mats, any idea ? i cant place roof unless twigg, i place twigg but roof is somehow 87% and when breaking twig roof is still there, i upgraded to metal before bed last night lol and had to break free ;(
My main issue is this bunker ended up sealing on me post server restart. Was a cool build to try out with great potential. I was able to incorporate the 2x2 build into a regular base design with widegaps and the like and it was working great all day. I did have trouble with the honeycombing even after destroying/flipping the exit walls on the 2x2 build and couldn't get it to build like shown in the video on both the server I am on as well as a build server. I was able to patch it by building two honeycomb halves where the majority of the HC branches off of where it is shown in the video up to the square tiles along the corners of the exit side and the other half from the exit side where the square tiles were fixed to the exit side offset.
@@RAHLO Maybe I will have to try it again. I wonder if it sealed due to the fact that I created a workaround on the honeycomb which may not be resilient to a reset. Seeing other similar videos pop up from other creators where commentors are running into similar issues makes me think you need to be extra careful about placing the initial foundations using the 'shadow shift' where you should not place immediately when the shadow shifts but instead take one extra step to increase the offset before the build shadow turns red. I tried building and following along 4-5 times and have yet to get the honeycomb to place as shown in the video. I think once I get it then there won't be an issue.

Just wanna say this video and the three before it are in the style that got me into watching rust videos and thinking about base building - which is to say these are clearly experimental, but practical and practiceable videos and tutorials. These last four have been absolutely killer - not sure if you'll run out of content now!

I would be interested in showing you my offset bunker version using the hexagon. It has 6 bunkers in base using two roofs to open, 3 each, and all the outers are bunkers. Id be really interested if it works on PC still using the work around methods.
Tried out the 2b2 on a buildserver and was pretty easy to set up and was working perfectly as shown, But its a gap in the wall next to the twig and one can break the twig from the outside.
If your gap is that big, any honeycomb will block that opening, however I am getting a ton of tiny gaps that work as well. No clue why the gap can vary so much and still work tho lol

Still working ? Tried 30 builds today. Got the 18 % roof on 2 of them. But the bunker twig would not snap / or the walls got red. I am exhausted ;) It was not this irregular the last time I tried to build. Thanks

@@RAHLO Thanks for replying! I finally got it working. There is right way and a not so right way to build these. Not sure what/where and why. Seems like its very easy to do something wrong, and breake the setup. Even got the triangle honeycomb fondation working/upgraded, but when I put up the walls, I got errors, and had to fill in/build between the triangle foundations, and have open space between inner and outer walls. Kind of worked, but was twice the build/upkeep cost. This is like a proper workout! The bunker worked fine through the 2 days I played. Sometimes it can be a little tricky to place the seal, when you have a lot of stuff down there, and cant move around freely. Had to climb on top of the workbench to make it turn blue :) Thanks again.
Ive played 3 2-3 days wipes now with this bunker it works wounders but i ran into an issue today where the server crashed rollbacked like 15 minutes and now the bunker dont work anymore lol it worked fine i closed and opend it 5+ times before i ran into this issue. Works wounders on good servers though! Keep it up boss

i got raided came back to see if the bunker still worked, they pummeled thru the walls of the 2by2 honeycomb sealed with doors. The bunker was still there with the twig frame holding it but when i broke it, the ceiling didnt break with it so its stuck any thoughts to what messed it up just curious

Super goofy now 😞 Only happens with square openings for some reason, so I just use the 3 triangles on the side of a 2x2 now for this, which kinda sucks, but works

Hexagon ; Can not close the LAST outside honeycomb wall. "to close to triangle foundation". Tried to remove inner walls, and place them again. Not working. May try again another day
This may be due to leaving an opposing foundation left when honeycombing instead of demolishing all 3rd side foundations. I can help later tonight if u are online

@@dapre its at 13:40 in the video, make sure you break that (wood) foundation shown there, that foundations is left over from the original far end of the offset 1x3 that will cause errors when up against building blocks built off the other end. We only use this far end foundation to place the wall, and then the floor off of that wall for our bunker, then we demolish the wall and foundation only keeping the floor, im online let me know if u need help!!
@@RAHLO Thanks. Got it working. Later (after complete upgrade) I got into a new problem. The triangle bunker roof is getting harder to place, since its place is already occupied. I can place it fine from above, but not easy from below. I have to stand on a Large Wood Box and crouch up and down several times, while I left click. In the end it will snap to the right level and turn blue. Not a big problem ;)
I’m not sure what I’m doing when it comes to building I’m pretty new to rust, but I’ve had success as a solo so far. I’ve never been prim locked for more than a day and usually i have a t3 by the end of the wipe day, but I’ve been offline raided for the past 4 wipes. It’s getting really old and I’m trying to learn how to build, but all the practical bunker designs are patched and I’m not sure what to do. Could anyone give me some pointers?
I'd suggest checking out Maverick's The Humiliator. It's the strongest offline base I've found. Ultimately though, you have to accept that offlines occur and figure out additional strategies. Towards this end people suggest building multiple small bases and figuring it out from there. Regardless of circumstances, spread loot, use stashes (though this one I've heard there are cheats for) and do your best to hide loot.
ok got it to work the foundation triangle that is opposite the bunker seal must be connected to the right offset foundation and not the left offset foundation.... not sure why
wym? You can fully honeycomb the 2x2, just make sure you are demolishing the outside-placed walls and replacing them from the inside so you don't get building error

Takes way too long to build and all the checking etc for me. I play on 1000 pop server and there u are never alone for more than 1 minute. Good stuff tho for people who play on a bit more relaxed servers
play 300 pop server with medium map size then :) 1000 pop servers tortures my pc even i have 5800x3d. 300 pop server = 200 fps stable. 1000 pop server 100-150 fps and not stable.
too close error with honeycomb even after placing the walls from inside :/ also placing walls from the inside kept making the bunker have 40% stability
this allows you to have a bunker with no discernable entry point, or telling features, such as raised foundations or roof pieces sticking through walls. You can incorporate this offset-foundation bunker into any footprint !!
@@RAHLO When you say "no discernable entry point" does that mean the "enemy" cant figure out how i get in and out? what exactly is a "telling feature" like a raised foundation? Does that mean that a raised foundation is a red flag and lets enemy know to rocket or c4 it? if roof pieces stick through walls does that mean its double layered or something? Sorry for all the questions I am trying to figure out of this is worth the effort of learning.

This works on console. There is also a configuration on the hexagon where you can add a horizontal pixel gap to your tc with the same setup process.

cant get the hexagon bunker to seal the frame doesnt connect to the offset roof no matter where i place it from

Its doable on high pop!! I have it down to 44 seconds from first sound to base seal, just takes practice.
