Dear Zalinda, Thanks for these videos! I always said I had a monkey mind and avoided yoga because I thought I lacked focus. I have been able to enjoy your practices. Wondering if you have any postures to aid those of us with type 2 diabetes and for weight loss? About to do one of your practices now. Thanks for making yoga accessible for all! NAMASTE! Ps. I work in health care as a foot care provider for seniors. Just did this practice feel much better. Many thanks.

Hello Jean, I'm so happy to know you're enjoying my videos. Consistent yoga practice is beneficial for diabetes. As you begin to practice consistently, please do keep an eye on your blood sugar levels. I have had students whose doctors have had to reduce the dosages of their medications. This Friday I'll publish a video for beginners whose doctors have prescribed yoga to help them manage stress and stress-related illnesses. You might check that one out. :) And for consistent practice, please check out my monthly practice calendar: www.rryogaroom.com/youtube-practice-calendar

I have a question for you. I love your yoga workouts but I have trouble when I lay on my back and bring my arms up and over my head to stretch, I only get about 3/4 of the way over. Is there a modified stretch for this? I’ve been just going til it hurts then back off slightly.

Hi @Palm Bahles, thanks for your question! Bringing the arms back alongside your ears in a lying down position is surprisingly challenging. If you have tightness in your shoulders, chest, neck, back, or even upper arms, you may find your range of motion is affected. Your instinct is correct - you should move within your maximum comfortable capacity. Another option you can try is moving the arms to a slightly wider position - sometimes this helps to gently increase range of motion. Also, please consider whether you may have a current or previous injury that may be limiting your range. Absent of injury, we typically find that gentle consistent practice (3-6 times per week) helps increase flexibility and strength, reduce aches and pains, reduce stress, and calm the mind. Thank you for being a part of our community! :) Zelinda
