Take ThatPickleball IQ Test to see how well you really know the game. VERY FEW get 10/10. I dare you to try thatpickleballtest.typeform.com/to/YuHaz4N6
Hey Kyle, been playing for a few months now majority of play being singles, we’ve been using wooden Amazon paddles not realizing how much of a difference a paddle can make. Went to local rec center open play and realized the difference after being creamed each match with everyone having “special” paddles. Long story short 😅 if you could make a video about paddles and what you should be looking for when buying new ones, I don’t know what’s good and what’s not. Thanks!
For the setup drill I have something that I think contributes to making each shot intentional. The emphasis should be on no wasted "meh" shots, make every shot intentional. It helps to vocalize so the two participants declare what each shot is slightly before or simultaneously as they hit it. They either declare it "survive" or "attack". Most people are surprised to learn that you can attack with a dink. An attack dink is one that is intentionally put to a place that is going to be difficult to return (feet, backhand, soft spots). Note that an attack(non dink) from a dink should not be encountered by your opponent higher than their knees. When your opponent in the drill hits a good one that you cannot do what you want with and you must just get it back somehow it is "survive". I call this drill "survivor".
My opener drill is Serve - Return - and 3rd shot drop. So then you switch the other player to serve. It’s very practical since you are trying to drop on the return in the game anyways.
Wouldn't it be good to hit the "Space Invaders resets" cross court rather than straight ahead? Lower net and further distance giving more time to close.
Shouldn't the Charmin (3rd-shot drop) drill be based on a deep return of a serve as opposed to a simple lob from the kitchen line, which is unlikely to occur in response to a serve?
Kyle you are not old enough to call it “no man’s land” , to be politically correct it is “ the land of opportunity or transition zone”. Great instruction as usual!

I did get 10/10 but it said I only got 8/10 right at the end. Will try these drills. Thanks Kyle

Great sidekick
What would you recommend as a warmup before a tournament/competitive game when you only have a few minutes? What is best to focus on?
Do you have a video about: respect the x or forehand take the middle, please?
I just started playing pickleball a week ago :y
Have fun out there!
SETUPS 🧠 🤯 thats really really good
Glad it was helpful!

Could be. But I also like to practice straight ahead bc its harder! So the game becomes easier

Yes I like that more. I do like starting this way though to gain rhythm and build confidence. Then move back and do what you suggest.
Charmin drill?! 🤔 Downey drill has a better ring to it 😉
I did consider that! haha
6:58 reminds me of being 5 years old watching power rangers 🤣
nice!!
Tyler is great, but what happened to Danny? Why no Danny Love?
