Hairs on the back of my neck. Makes me sad too. A space in time, pre internet, when life somehow was more in the moment. Never be another band or singer like Maver’s. Brilliant. 🙏❤️.x
He's, like, totally possessed as he sings and plucks his guitar. This guy never sounded like he was trying. It all flows out of him naturally. Very few artists are as gifted as Lee.
+Manning Hind Haha, sorry for putting it in too flattering words, but I really meant what I said. And to that Underground906 guy who was just so mean, it's neither technicality, nor complexity - u-oh, it's this the age-old truth again - that makes works like this great. It's the raw talent in it, it's in its ability to get really close to the soul and be able to relate its language.
When I hear this band I can only quote George Bernard Shaw: "You see things; and you say 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say 'Why not?'" Is too much beauty to be not reconized by the world.
its just raw, clean and perfect. i saw lee mavers in heebie jeebies last year and he said hes working on new material, whether or not we will hear any of it remains to be seen, the guy is a legend
This song is beautiful, and the video accompanying it brings it to a different level. Upsets me everytime I watch/heaer this...looks like we'll never know :(
just been listening to the callin all boxset and as was when i was younger and as is now it blew me away hearing mavers,a true one off no doubt about it.thank you for the music.
I bought the There She Goes 4 track EP (which contained this song)in 1988 purely because i thought the band looked cool on the cover.I had no idea what they sounded like.I struck lucky. This was my favourite song on it and it is still a wonderful piece of music.
I was 15 in 1989, and seeing the There She Goes video on the TV Chart Show was culture shifting for me and my.mates...for the first time we were seeing REAL music made just like it used to be. We started our first band at school the very next day.
I also saw them on the chart show in 1989 when I was 14, and also the roses on TOTP playing fools gold. To this day, still my top 2 bands and I consider myself privileged to have found them both ❤
I had that 4 track too and this was my fave track off of it, along with a track called (I think) "come in come out" which they used the riff in another song on the album. Hemmings used to play it boss live. Good to see Timmo is not forgotten as well.
You did a good job mate on the video. Captured the feel. Great shot of Mavers/Power at the end. Nothing to be sad about, like all good soul music it will never die.
For all the great music that's in Lee Maver's head that we'll never get to hear (he never seemed to care for the studio recordings of the music the way he heard it in his mind) I'm glad this one got out - beautiful video mate -beautifully poignant - thank you.
@spinningchurro I'd agree with this is it wasn't for all the 'false dawns' that have come and gone. But people are right. The guys a fookin' genius La. I bet Noel Galagher wishes he could write material half as good as this.
i think by this point fame wasnt for him!! which may i add is was and always will be the biggest shame in british music history!! the b-side alone would make a top ten list in the best albums of all time!!!
@naniwanojoe Your english is 100% better than my japanese mate lol. Type in "the la's callin all" the album has 27 tracks on there but there are 91 versions of the 27 tracks. There are other tracks on here like the kitchen tapes which are difficult to hear and very sketchy but the ideas in the tapes sound like a great second album! Kampai :-)
@stephentube9000 - nice one mate- what was the deal with the glasgow gig and how did you get to hear about it? he's not still hanging about with Doherty is he? nowt good will come of that i.m.h.o..
People say they’re angry the las we’re not bigger.. I’m not coz then we’d have a generation of shitcnuts walking around wearing las T-shirts who had no clue what they were about.. the best bands meet .. release 1/2 albums then part ways
A brilliant band with awesome song writing skills sorely missed in todays Simon Cowel's f*****g world of shit pop! I can't wait for the next generation of LA's
can someone tell me why the la's are not bigger than jesus right now? i mean, they are the closest band to the beatles in terms of great songs! i love oasis but these guys are just different class..... lee mavis is 100% genius, a word that is used to often in describing albums these days but this guy carrys the tag like it's a chip on his shoulder! if his album isn't what he wanted it to sound like then by god i would pay good money to hear it when it's recorded right!!
I think he means Lee is one of a kind. Either people are rarely born with such a gift of feeling or can't express themselves, capture such it the way Lee does.
Rare photo of Mike Badger in the video, from descriptions of him in The La's story I can name that man whose girlfriend sat like a Reindeer ... took a moment but I got the picture (lol) and thankfully re-written song :)
***** When I heard those very very early La's songs -- they were way back from 84, I think -- with Mike Badger at the helm, I didn't know what to make of it all. They sounded so different, so antiquated, so goofy, so maudlin, so raw. But somehow you can sense Lee's roots in them. A very small part of that early sound he still retained in The La's' subsequent music as it evolved.
Hairs on the back of my neck. Makes me sad too. A space in time, pre internet, when life somehow was more in the moment. Never be another band or singer like Maver’s. Brilliant. 🙏❤️.x
yes, this internet age cheapened everything. That space in time is precious. The La's are a deep part of that time for me.
Still makes the hairs on my arms stand up!!! That voice, that reverb, those lyrics, that guitar playing. So mesmerising, so simple.
He's, like, totally possessed as he sings and plucks his guitar. This guy never sounded like he was trying. It all flows out of him naturally. Very few artists are as gifted as Lee.
+Underground906 he’s, like, totally possessed though... can’t stand nick cave fans but you’re dead wrong about lee mavers.
+Manning Hind Haha, sorry for putting it in too flattering words, but I really meant what I said. +Underground906 Oh, I know a guy who could say things like that about this music: Lee Mavers. You must be him, I say!
You really have no idea.
underground906

Is too much beauty to be not reconized by the world.
Cant believe a man like that could recognise beauty
One of the most beautiful, simple songs of all time.
It's stunning as it speaks to everyone.
Beautiful. A poet and a one off. These songs and first album will never be forgotten.x
Choon! From a brilliant band who stuck to their Liverpudlian roots. Respect
its just raw, clean and perfect. i saw lee mavers in heebie jeebies last year and he said hes working on new material, whether or not we will hear any of it remains to be seen, the guy is a legend
12 years later still nothing 😭
This song is brilliant... Melts my heart..
I know! The la's & shack are prob my two favourite bands
So much passion & soul
+115950243814559594274 Yeah, Waterpistol felt especially brilliant for me..
Doesn't get much better than this
Such a endearing and sincere tune! Track blows my mind away which lee mavers always has done! Unsung hero!
This song is beautiful, and the video accompanying it brings it to a different level. Upsets me everytime I watch/heaer this...looks like we'll never know :(
Don't be upset, just enjoy it.
just been listening to the callin all boxset and as was when i was younger and as is now it blew me away hearing mavers,a true one off no doubt about it.thank you for the music.
There are so many hidden la's tnes. This one is unbeleivable

Great now I'm crying.....
This band is the most important band in the world to me and i was born in 89

Excellent tune. captures great emotion.
lee is back out there, he's doin his thing playin to crowds. hopefully he'll throw an album together soon.........

This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
Mavers needs to get the fuck back into the world and show us what music should be.
No, I don't believe Mavers needs that at all.
@@captainfeedback1 : Yeah, I didn’t know what kind of state he was in when I wrote that. That old boy needs his peace.
Beautiful song. Very haunting...
Thanks for uploading on youtube. Truly a beautiful song.
brilliant band, they could have so much more success.
just beautiful...
beautiful!
This song is the epitaph of forgotten dreams.x
@spinningchurro I'd agree with this is it wasn't for all the 'false dawns' that have come and gone. But people are right. The guys a fookin' genius La. I bet Noel Galagher wishes he could write material half as good as this.
Fantastic.
Some amazing photos, especially the early ones. They feel really poignant with the song. Thanks for posting.
for me the same level like "english rose", just gorgeous, thanks gebeeze...
Brilliant, you should upload 'man i'm only human' if youve got it, The La's did some great B-sides.
@stephentube9000 brings a smile seeing that man with guitar again don't it pal.
i think by this point fame wasnt for him!! which may i add is was and always will be the biggest shame in british music history!! the b-side alone would make a top ten list in the best albums of all time!!!
Stark raving Mavers!

What is this wonderful ambiant sound that is lying behind ? It makes the whole song mystic, if someone knows pls tell me ! :)
Makes me sad they weren't bigger
my heart stopped beating from 0:19-0:29
People say they’re angry the las we’re not bigger.. I’m not coz then we’d have a generation of shitcnuts walking around wearing las T-shirts who had no clue what they were about.. the best bands meet .. release 1/2 albums then part ways
haven't heard of any new recordings sadly :/
The last great Brit MODS to make it to at least the 90's.....
Sound is all.
could of been one of the biggest bands in the world, if only...
*have
Not everyone wants that.
A brilliant band with awesome song writing skills sorely missed in todays Simon Cowel's f*****g world of shit pop! I can't wait for the next generation of LA's
❤
Great vid man, but the tune's on the original twelve go discs 'There She Goes' an all.
@Garethfeb16 Well said mate.
very talented guy, pity he didn't accept the limitations of recording and put more stuff out..still time though.
He walks on a different path. A gift which must be done right & on his terms.
can someone tell me why the la's are not bigger than jesus right now? i mean, they are the closest band to the beatles in terms of great songs! i love oasis but these guys are just different class..... lee mavis is 100% genius, a word that is used to often in describing albums these days but this guy carrys the tag like it's a chip on his shoulder! if his album isn't what he wanted it to sound like then by god i would pay good money to hear it when it's recorded right!!
thank you oh spelling god ;) haha
does john power look like dirk kuyt to anyone else?
He looks like some kind of fuckin' kite.
what was this off ?
I think he means Lee is one of a kind. Either people are rarely born with such a gift of feeling or can't express themselves, capture such it the way Lee does.
It was on the original There She Goes EP from 1988
@@JoeMullanMusic I should of read the description 12 years ago La
He sounds like Bowie sometimes, don't he?
+Caverman Don't hear that at all
+sratus I don't know, man. I kind'a hear his voice that way in this song, particularly.
Rare photo of Mike Badger in the video, from descriptions of him in The La's story I can name that man whose girlfriend sat like a Reindeer ... took a moment but I got the picture (lol) and thankfully re-written song :)
***** Thankfully rewritten. Oh, indeed.
