When I was 19 years old a Neighbor of mine bough a 1991 F40 New. Low and behold I ended up working for the guy and one day he asked could I take to the F40 to his Nephews School Car Show about 40 mins away. Here I am just out of High School and I plowing down the NY State Thruway Rt 87 in a Brand New Ferrari F40Well I missed the Exit ( on purpose) . Oh and I took the long way home too. 25 Years Later I got to drive the F40 again this time to a race track 1 hour + away as he still owns the car. Another story I once had to trailer the Car to a Ferrari Meet at Bridge Hampton Raceway on Long Island. I was driving a Ford Bronco nothing fancy with this Almost new F40 on and Open Trailer. I felt like a rock star as every single car that went to pass me on the Long Island Expressway slowed down to see who was pulling this F40 if they new car but to most I am sure they had never seen a car so FAT and Wide. I have pictures of this trip.
Lots of people on here hate how Liberty Walk could "defile" such a car but I say they didn't. Think about the car itself, if it was a person, I'd say it would be a very happy person(I'll call it a he just because I'm a rebel). It has a twin turbo upgrade, an awesome exhaust (so it can woo over all the lady supercars), and that air suspension, that's a air cup setup, so it's functional, doesn't take away from the handling, so now, he can look cool and be fast whenever he wants. Obviously, he's a bit of an otaku with his Japanese styling cues. I'd say he's a lot happier than those garage queen F40s, he's driven everywhere, including the city! What more can a car ask for? Upgrades, care, and driving!
man please, Enzo did design this as" ultimate man's car", and someone "tune" the car how it please, ofcs he can, it's his car, his money, but then you can't pretend anymore that it's authentic F40 Ferrari, all tha club @ the world will not accept this type of "tune"; it my look good, but getting electronics in full analog car ... such a pitty, that why Japan's never learn anything about cars; even today they keep buy EU cars to break them and learn about them; Enzo is the father of pure man's car, and the F40 is just oustanding tech, do you know that even the paint is "special" ? i bet that when he did repaint the car, did not consider doing it as Ferrari would do ...
This is amazing! The only thing I don't get is that if the owner wanted to make it custom rather than a museum piece, why didnt they opt for a shorter shifter? The factory one looks like something from a semi truck!
I don't understand why some people are so butthurt. As long as it still drives like an F40, then I don't see what wrong with the owner toying around with the car a bit.
If you own the car you can do whatever the fuck you want to it. Thats the whole concept behind the name Liberty walk. For those of you saying one should never modify the F40 I say life is too short enjoy it. It's just a fuckin car. It's meant to be driven not be in a museum.
reefturkey why not take a Ferrari 250 GTO and rice it then? Hell, paint a moustache on Mona Lisa while we are at it. If desecrate an F40 it means you have no real appreciation of the car or one mans dreams and visions. This isn't a mass produced run of the mill car.
It's a lovely piece of engineering, the quality of work looks awesome but I struggle to understand why a customer would want this done to an F40.......It's now worth considerably less than a standard car. I guess it proves that you can't buy taste!
Little known fact, Kato had 2 F40’s. This one and a factory red one. This one sold a while ago, I think it’s owned by Sam Moore if I’m not mistaken. No idea what happened with the red F40 or if Kato somehow still has it, but he also used to have a white F50 like this one.
There are plenty of rich collectors that have their precious F40 in red sitting in a heated garage with 2 miles on the clock, that this guy can build one. Most of the other F40's will barely be driven, where this one was meant to be, built to be. The uniqueness if this thing makes it far better than an original in my opinion. The fact that it will be driven gives it more soul too.
WOW! They just made my absolute favorite car of all time even more amazing. Nicest F40 I ever seen. Now I just need to change my pants. It's good to see it on the road and not in the garage for 10 years just sitting there.
Pretty sure this car is blue now,and owned by Sam Moore who has a YT channel!!! (his name is his YT channel) Liberty walk kit removed also and put back to standard but painted Blue!!!
the air suspension is to lift the car only. its not an "air suspension kit" so calm down people it uses air to raise and lower the car for speedbumps and driveways the shock and spring are still intact
I'm not a ferrari fan, far from that actually I don't like most of their cars. But the F40 is something else, a legend, and this one... Mr Wataru Kato, I'd like to tell you to give it to me, but I don't have anywhere to keep it safe, so , keep it .. for now :P
Liberty Walk borrowed heavily from Ferrari F40 LM design. They can't improve the design on the original car anymore. Its is 99% perfect. Whats changed here? Lights, front lower lips, front bonnet, front side fenders, side skirts, rear wing & a set of Enkei center lock wheels that looks the same as the OZ units on the F40 LM. Whats not near the same as the F40 LM is the side mirrors and front bonnet vents. Liberty Walk only has the top fender slots and not the big vents. Its as close to F40 LM as you can get. But they should have went for the F40 GTE front lights instead of GT LM ones. Which is way too big and messes up the front look. Which is why in this video, you don;t get to see the front as much.
Never have I been this speechless after watching a video. They took my favourite car, one which I would of never tarnished with modifications and just made it, amazing. Now I have to go change my underwear.
Many exotics today have adjustable air-sus because of the ability to raise the ride height for getting over curbs and divots. Roberuta in Japan makes air-sus for older cars to be able to do the same.
You don't think one of those "rich collectors" couldn't snatch up this one or do their own build? They certainly have the money for it, but that's not their interest. Their interest is to keep the car as original as possible because it's a Ferrari masterpiece. LB's interest is to improve upon Ferrari's original idea. It's a risky thing to do, the only outcomes are a heap of trash or something magnificent. In this case, it's the latter of the two and LB is owed praise for their work.
1:04 engine sound neat video I like the way the car looks. (It's a CAR, not an investment for crying it loud. If it's an expensive car, then you ought to get your money's worth.)
I thought so too. On lots of cars it would have given away the power, on this something a bit more special. More bark but also refined could have been done. That said given 100 lifetimes I'd never have the skill to better that exhaust let alone make a full car like this.
Really nice video. Great footage. But.. the background music should fade out when the car engine sound comes on. I can hear music anytime. Hearing the music the car makes is what I really want to hear.
idk how the hell they put that custom spoiler if the spoiler is part of the rear body. Do it cover the original spoiler? does it slip over the old one?
That exhaust noise just gave me the chills... its so primal, what a fantastic sound!

Maybe because most people wanted a red one?
There is a guy in Germany who painted his one Blu Pozzi, it looks amazing!
FerrariF40Fan I dont care about their color, the F40 is a legend even if its painted Pink.
Jeff Lebowski Which, I might add that nobody in their right mind would paint one pink.

@@humakhan80 yea why do you think everything liberty walk done to this car was reverted back to how it was apart from paint (its blue now) ?
I don't get why people are making a big fuss over the body style. It looks quite similar to the F40LM
MrGhost370 so, aerodynamics are non-functional? Also, when is an F40 ever "rice"?
Because it's trying to pull off the Lm look.......

It's LM upgrades this is the only way you can make an f40 even better than the original.
this is the car I would be willing to pay with my soul
If i can ever afford a F40 it will be my daily driver
Less music, more sound of that exhaust!

I presume resale value will drop drastically since it won't get Ferrari's f40 originality "bill of health" anymore?
wow holy shit that's the nicest F40 I've ever seen
Should have gotten the F40 Competizone to custom build it to much higher HP top speed capable over 420+ KM/H if im correct
my favorite f40 in the world
its all authentic ferrari parts and not bagged its only adjustable shocks like race cars have
I'm usually not into music in car videos. But this sounds familiar. Anyone know the song name?
I disagree ... if there's a track that would epitomise the F40's epicness ... that would be it.
BTW ... what track is it?
Way better than origin
this is gods car.
Zero fucks given Rx7
Its custom. Yes. But at least its being driven like enzo wanted it to be. Not being put into garage or showroom just for show.
