Good job, Sandra ! A lot of RV wives of big rigs don't seem to drive much. Understandable, because it can be scary. However, it is so important that both be confident and practiced in operating the vehicle. Not only for emergencies, but for a genuine feeling of self-trust, knowing for sure you can do it! Good job! (You're an engineer -- "mind over matter". My mother is a surgeon -- she'll drive anything !) Well done ! (And David does a great job of supporting and teasing at the same time! The fact that he jokes and teases shows how much confidence he has in you !)
One thing I remember from my car detailing business. Removing bugs works best in the early am thanks to the dew from the night. A perfect non scratch method: Put a panty hose over a soaking wet large sponge with some car shampoo. Never had a problem and we made tons of money spending very little money. Love all the off the grid camping spots you shared with us.
About the three fuel pumps, generally you’ll find that in farm country up north, because you will have three different types of fuel there. You will have treated diesel, witch is for vehicles operating in extreme cold, so that it doesn’t jell up on you, then untreated diesel, that I’d imagine you’d run year round because you all don’t typically operate into extreme cold conditions, then 3rd you have OFF ROAD DIESEL, witch is for farm equipment and heavy earth moving machinery that don’t operate on state maintained highways. Obviously all diesels will burn either one, but you never want to get caught running off-road diesel fuel in your road truck, and the way that they can tell that is there is red dye and off-road diesel fuel. So if they test your fuel and it is red, so is your rear end after they get done with you. Lol. So typically, Farmer will pull in with his pick up and fill up his off-road and his pick up at the same time, and you can pay for it two different ways, with different or same cards.
You two remind me of my grandparents. They traveled the 48 contiguous states. They took one summer and did the lower half and then did the upper half the following year. They had a 38ft Coachman travel trailer that the pulled with a F250 Diesel
I’m a little delayed in watching and commenting this week. We evacuated from Tallahassee when they said we were in direct line with a category 4 hurricane. Lucky for us, not for others, it swerved a little more east. Other than loss of power for only 18 hours and twigs, leaves, branches down in the yard, all was fine. We emptied the freezer and fridge of anything we left behind but a fresh start is never a bad thing. We are throughly blessed! Thank you for this week’s vlog. Please be safe as you make your way south.
at 8:17, I am pretty sure that trailer is a cradle trailer for hauling oilfield production tanks. The trailer can basically be lifted to the vertical. grab the tank. and lower it to horizontal into cradles for safe transport down a highway/ road.

I've driven thru the mid-west on I-90 both ways several times and I can promise you that from Livingston, MT to the Great Lakes, there is a whole bunch of nothing other than miles and miles and miles of wide open prairie. I must have driven 3-4 hours without ever seeing another vehicle traveling in either direction. But it's not really that there is nothing out there, because one of the things that really struck me was the huge expanse of sky, like nothing I had ever seen before or since. The northern prairies have their own kind of beauty, the huge and open spaces from horizon to horizon tend to humble one (at least they did for me), make one realize how small we humans are in the overall scope of the entire planet. That big empty weird trailer with the pilot car (p/u behind it) is used to transport the windmill towers & blades too, I think. Kinda funny to see 'em hog an intersection in, say, Kansas, where the trucks pick 'em up at from a lay-down yard by a railroad line. 😆 🤣 that's funny.
Welcome to SD and thank you for pronouncing Pierre correctly. Learned something new, did not know that was our state pie.
You're welcome! We try to get the pronunciation correct... we're not always successful. Only 8 states have an official dessert designation.
You two are hilarious and brave drivers! ❤😂
Brave or stupid... both could describe us! 😆 🤣 Thanks for watching
That twine was cool! Love watching you two!!
Glad you enjoyed it, Dale! It was pretty wild to see it.
Great job driving Sondra!!
Thank you 🤗 She did great!
Congratulations on your (fleeting) world record! Be bop to dat!😂 Kudos to Ms. Linda, the Belle of the Ball.
Continued safe travels, David and Sondra.💙🤍❤️👍🏾
😆 😆 Thank you so very much. We be bopped to Texas. Ms Linda made the experience for sure.
There aren't many campgrounds in the middle states so we also like staying in city parks like you. They usually have very reasonable rates. The only problem is that they are usually on a first come basis. Thanks for another great video. The ball of string looks like a fun side stop.
Very true! The ball of twine was a unique little stop. Thanks
Love watching your adventures. Wish I was able to do some traveling. Love you guys.🥰🥰
Maybe one day! We're hoping... but until then we're excited to have you along on the journey with us.
@@bigtruckbigtravels I’m not going to be able to travel. I’ll be 71 October 15 and can’t because of finances. So watching you two is a blessing. 🥰🥰
What a beautiful drive but I totally hated riding across Kansas on our motorcycles during our Covid vacation. I had grasshoppers everywhere 🦗🦗🦗 until we stopped and put on a bandana and tied our pant legs with bungee cords , 😆 Good luck getting your repairs done 😎🧡🍂🍁
Oh wow. Not fun dealing with the grasshoppers! Eewww! Glad we're on a cab. Thanks
Had a Whataburger last week. Thank you.
Wonderful! Hope it was good.
Started watching your videos a while ago I decided that I was going to follow you guys on UA-cam. Enjoy the videos.
Awesome! Thank you! We really appreciate that!
I was a car hauler that delivered to Weirs gmc a lot , they never really have a huge inventory , careful service departments at dealerships are ripoff artists . Get second opinion’s if possible ! Have a great time in Maine , if your going to bar harbor area check out Timberland acres RV park , big pull throughs and reasonable rates(got the tip from changing lanes) or Koa is awesome too if you can get in
Thank you. Great suggestion on the RV park! We'll be in Maine for 2026.
Loved this, had a few hairy drives myself pulling my horses. ON MY OWN, too. Travelled in cyclones while also travelling down steep mountain. You go girl. 😂😂😂😂.I mean how can you not love a guy who tells such bad jokes. 😅😅😅😅
I know, right?!? Cyclones? Oh my!
I’m really proud of you you did an awesome navigating out of there 👍👌
Thanks, Steven. A lot of turns out in farmland but it worked out great.
Watching from Florida where Hurricane Helene is currently going by. 🙏 Another great video y’all! Safe travels.
Oh wow! We hope you are safe. Terrible storm.
You did great
Sondra handled it well. Thanks
God bless you too ❤
Thank you very much.
Awe whata great trip
😆 🤣 whata-guy, David!
Nothing wrong with looking for cheap fuel . It makes you look smart
That's our idea too! Every little bit helps. Thanks
David you make me 😂 with your quick humour & rapping 😂 Sondra your an excellent driver 😊👏 much ❤️ from Melbourne Australia 🦘
Thanks so much, Helene. Good or bad, it's just how we roll down the road.
You were right the trailer is called a Schnabel it's for the windmill tires
Oh wow! Thank you 😊
I love David and his jokes
I think we're in the minority, Deborah! 😆 🤣
Years ago I as a truck driver took a load of honey from Bismarck, North Dakota to Columbus, Ohio in the middle of winter, no matter what I did I could not get warm, I was happy getting to Ohio which was below freezing but 20 degrees warmer than Bismarck Nd.
Oh wow! That's cold! Glad we're south.
LOVE YOU GUYS
Thank you, AnnaMay.
Another amazing video. Nice to be the center of attention 😂
Thanks! 😃 good to be centered in life!
OMG! I would have put it in park and told Jim “You drive buddy!” But he would have done exactly the same thing Dave did! LOL Oh gawd! I was dying over your stress! Love watching you guys. We are “grounded” for a bit. MIL light so Miss Corona is at a Cummins service center. 😢Thank you guys for another good video!
Jim and Sue
Thanks, Jim and Sue. Hope it gets fixed soon. Out to Quartzsite again this winter? It would be great to run into you guys sometime...though we will not make the Q next year.
@@bigtruckbigtravels yep. We will be back to the Q. It’s kind of our winter vacation. We build NPs and SPs and POIs into the trip. Going to hang out with Grand Adventure again and Traveling Robert will be joining the group. Did you get the paperwork about the proposed rate increase for the LTVA? I don’t mind a price increase but what they are proposing is insane. We would love to spend a camping day or two with you guys. See ya on the road!
Jim and Sue
Hi kids, there’s a hot from the toy box, distilled water works best on windows, leaves no streaks + way cheaper than window cleaner that doesn’t work well another + is if U R hot & need a drink of water it’s in your hand 😅😅 thx & have more fun
Thanks for the tip! I love it! Didn't think about it but makes complete sense!
Hi from Canada .Another enjoyable experience.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching
You guys are funny love love you guys and this channel Blessings ❤
Thank you very much. That means a lot to us.
Next time you come to Idaho and stay in the ambassador rv park in Caldwell I would love to meet you two. I live in the park. Saw all of the group this summer. Safe travels
That would be cool! We were in Ambassador in June for the West Coast HDT Rally.
Off Road or red Diesel for third pump. no road tax
I think you can use it in refer van fuel tanks as well
Thanks. Makes sense
That big empty weird trailer with the pilot car (p/u behind it) is used to transport the windmill towers & blades too, I think. Kinda funny to see 'em hog an intersection in, say, Kansas, where the trucks pick 'em up at from a lay-down yard by a railroad line. You'd think someone would have thought of a better place to set up shop at where they had more room to maneuver. 😮🙄
It could be for refer trailers of the semi trucks
True. And farm equipment for cheaper fuel...offroad.
Nice, Thursday night video. Hope you can fit in the RV service bay somehow. Safe travels!
That's the plan! Thanks. A 14-foot door just doesn't seem like 14 feet anymore!
The journey and now the suspense 💁🤗
😆 🤣 a suspenseful journey!
😂 you are showing your age with the wrestling comment. Loved me some wrestling in the day and Hulk Hogan is in a neighborhood close by.
😆 🤣 just thought I'd throw out some fun trivia "play on words" kind of thing. Hulk Hogan was the master showman!
...and besides cold, that wonderful view campsite will also be muddy, like real muddy. After that uncomfortable driving - Drink on Sondra, drink on 🍻🍷🍾 I did not know DEF had such a high freezing point, 12° F. The pump blankets had me curious, so I looked it up. Great water shot in the closing; David needs a boat 🚢
Oh, I definitely need a boat... in a warm climate! Yes, we needed to head south.
Ok it’s working 😊
Great! What happened?!?
I’ve been McPherson a few times driving from Salina to Wichita, to McConnell Air Force Base.
Ok, nice roads to drive.
Interesting to see you at the geographical centre of the mainland United States.
3 months and 3 days ago, we were at the geographical center of mainland Australia.
You certainly would not get your rig into there, 4wd track only, literally in the middle of nowhere.
Oh wow! That is cool. Ours is paved with parking!
You guys still safe and make David be good 😂
Trying...real hard! 😆 🤣 Thanks for thinking of us.
Do you have a digital photo frame that scrolls through your pictures? You have such beautiful photos of your journeys.
Yes. Sondra changes it with the seasons.
You missed the enchanted highway and Lawrence welks homestead.
We passed by both. Didn't know if we'd fit.
