JAWS 2 Lost Divers' Camera Recovery Scene

  • The following scene has been sourced from a Brazillian VHS copy of JAWS 2. It currently the only known source of this scene. The English voices of Hendricks and Red (old man) were replaced with Portuguese. The first clip is the original version, with the exception of it being stretched to fit the screen instead of in square VHS format. The second clip is my version of it with no speaking and the score at the end has been rescored. Perhaps one day, the full scene will be released in High Definition and English.

I always thought there should have been a scene where they raised the Orca wreck to investigate the incident, It would have been a great flashback moment and would have shown the sheer damage Bruce did to the ship.

for some reason they forgot to put the hole in the side of the orca made by bruce so maybe that scene might not work as much as we would all like !!

This scene certainly provides clarity on how the camera was found. My assumption having watched this movie so many times was that Hendricks had fished the camera out of the water using the hooks and winch on the police boat. This scene in itself provides some suspense seeing these search divers getting into the same water as the ill fated divers. This scene also suggests the shark swallowed the divers and their scuba equipment whole which would defy logic and reason and which is probably why it didn't make the final cut. It was still nice to see though and has me hoping more deleted scenes will turn up later.

As cool as it is to see this it makes sense that it was cut as it doesn’t really advance the plot or provide much suspense. As the film was already nearly 2 hours long I can understand why it was lost in editing.

Tom Andrews had a bigger role in the novel. This could have expanded his character a bit more. Great scene

Do you know what sucks? In the late 1980s, I had this scene on VHS from a Canadian airing...with the English dialog: "Look, it's a diver's camera" or something like that. It was in good quality too. The Canadian version KEPT this scene, only included in the first couple of ABC airings of JAWS 2. I ended up erasing my T.V. version when I bought the home video version around 1990 or something. If I had known that this lost scene in particular was going to be a lost gem... Now, the scene seems lost. Of course, it exists SOMEWHERE. Obviously, it must be in Universal's vaults...and there are likely a few hardcore fans out there somewhere who still have their JAWS 2 VHS taping of the ABC (or Canadian) airing of the film from the early 80s. But whether or not some fan realizes they have it and uploads it here...THAT is the longshot.

One of the diver is Andrews, the guy who ran into the shark during the lobster diving scene. His character apparently dies in the novelization of the movie.

Yeah the novelization is closer to the original script and footage that John Hancock shot

@@OrcaRebuild The Marvel comic also follows the original script (and novelization)...not the theatrical version. It's actually a pretty cool version (though I still love the released JAWS 2, as well).

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
We need to get Shout! Factory or Arrow Video to release a Collector's Edition of "JAWS 2" that has the Theatrical Cut and a HD Remaster of the Extended Brazilian TV Cut. The same should be done with "JAWS: The Revenge" and its AMC TV Cut.

    • @cyrusq5999
      @cyrusq5999 Рік тому

      Agreed.
Let’s not forget the November 1979 ABC TV broadcast of JAWS. This version contained about 6 - 7 minutes of new footage (most of which can be viewed on the home video releases). Still, it’d be great to have all the JAWS films television edits available.
The deleted scenes, as presented on the JAWS 4K disc, are horrible. The frame rate is all messed up, making it difficult to sit through.

It would also be nice for them to find the 20 minutes of deleted scenes from *"JAWS 3-D"* (some of which were featured in the TV documentary: *"Sharks Don't*
*Die: The Making of JAWS 3-D").*

As far as the Jaws 2 Orca (the technical ORCA III) I was told by someone who has been there. She’s barely recognizable. The flybridge, mast, and much of the wheelhouse is gone…I believe the pulpit is gone too. And I imagine that people have treasure hunted off of it and taken things. I do know that both name plagues off the bow we’re taken and the porthole off the wheelhouse aft wall.

Thank you for this upload never ever saw this scene of the camera recovery, and one of the diver' that recovered it, was that diving instructor that got that diving accident later on, but nevertheless, they should be more realistic, the two scuba tanks from the diver's that were attacked should be around the area, no shark can rupture a steel tank or aluminum one.
