I have to confess. Sometimes I watch your videos over and over again just because I soooo love the crisp and clean way you compose your frames. And these dividers are super lovely! The adorable art for the cities is very novel.
A few days ago I wasn't even aware of ring-bound planners and have previously thought they were very expensive and for business people and busy people only. Now I've discovered the plenty videos on planners and the different ways to use and personalise them and I am hooked! I really want one now! I think I'll order one as a reward when I can see my bachelor's project coming to an end. :) Thanks for this video. I'll definitely make my own dividers when I get a planner. It's so pretty and personal!
I love, love, love this girl!!!! I'm ordering the sheets and a laminator ASAP! I have the gold Kikki K, but the Franklin Covey is hot. It reminds me of a Chanel purse. I love how you coordinate the colors and made it look so cute. I'm truly inspired. Thanks for sharing with us!!!
Thanks! I'm trying to get as much use out of the pouches as possible without lots of excess and was wondering if you had a suggestion for a size that would work for a set of pocket or personal size dividers? Do you find it more effective to use a small pouch for each individual divider or a larger one with multiple dividers inside? Also, Whats the easiest way to punch your dividers and ensure the holes are aligned with each other? I'm still trying to master that but can't fit more that one or two laminated dividers in my punch at once LOL
Hi Alexis, great DIY, I will absolutely make does dividers. Can you make a video on how to do the print of Paris, London etc? I am not too good on computer but I would like to learn how to get the pictures and fixed it before I print. Thank you for sharing.
Francine Rollin Hi Francine! So glad you enjoyed the video! I am not sure how helpful a tutorial would be on how I manipulate the photos to make them into dividers because I use Adobe Photoshop and I know thats not a program everyone has access to. But I will think about it and see if I can come up with something useful!
This was so awesome I finally got my Planner it was the target one I put a picture of it on my ig. I don't have one that u can open up like a binder but u gave me an idea how to do it. Thanks so much, btw love your lipstick and your hair I like how you are so good in doing videos I have always wanted to start but I am so shy. Plz keep thoses videos coming Gid bless 😄
Nancy Delgado That is awesome to hear Nancy! It doesn't matter which system you use as long as it works for you! The ones at Target are great and very affordable which is always a plus! So glad you have been enjoying my videos, that means so much for me to hear! Best of luck with your new planner, and if you ever start a channel and make videos, let me know! Have a great day!
Nancy Delgado My suggestions for someone starting out would be to find a method to video yourself, create an outline for a video you want to film so you are clear and concise, and just get to filming! Sometimes the best way to begin is just to begin! Best xx
Hi, I loved this video. I have an Erin Condren planner and found this video still helpful. Do you have any videos on how you add the luxury brand (Chanel) goodies to your planner? I thought the paper clip ribbon was a great touch. Thank you! -New Subbie 💗
Hey Alexis, first of all I need to tell you that you are soo gorgeous! And your voice is so relaxing, I just love to listen ;)! I love your videos so much they are extremely inspiring to me! :) loads of love from Germany! Please keep the amazing work coming!
Jane Melinda Powell If you mean the weight of the pouches, I use 3mil because thats what came with my laminator. It also came with a variety of different sized laminating sheets and I use all of them, whatever sort of fits for the item I am laminating!
How do you punch holes with the 6 hole puncher exactly on top of the pre-punched paper after laminating it? I have a rapesco 6 hole adjustable puncher. My issue is that the laminated edge moves the holes margin so that when I punch the laminated dividers, my holes are off by a couple millimeters
Well if you are using pre punched paper you should probably use a single hole punch so you can line it up precisely. Like you said the lamination throws things off a bit.
Sasha Fitzgerald Thank you! Also, thanks for the reminder on the sheets, I forgot to link them in the description! Heres where you can get them... goo.gl/CB3OwU
Great video!! Thank you for sharing. i always wondered how you make your own personalized designs. I like round corners, do you have suggestions on how i can do rounds if its laminated? thanks
I'm making different sets of dividers... I can't get enough. Lol I'm waiting for my laminator to arrive Thursday... 😊 but my question is... Should I punch holes before or after laminating? Do you think it makes a difference?? Lol let me know 😉
I recently ordered some dividers for my Kate Spade personal planner, very cute but every time I zip it open & closed, the zipper bends the dividers:( what can I do? If I cut them will they rip or tear??
What are the measurements for the divider pages you made for the macaroon planner? I purchased the same planner but it didn't come with dividers to use a template and so far everything I have been looking at has been to big.
Loved the diy video I cant wait to start making some for myself. does your step by step instructions also apply when using a holiday card or birthday card?
Okay, I am trying to hold my emotions back but I have to say I LOVE this freakin planner. You should name her channel no. 5, she is so French. (Wee, wee) LOL. You were ahead of me because I was going to request a video with a laminator demonstration. I do lots of projects for the university I attend and I need one at home. Thank you again for all you do for this community. You get better and better all the time. For ALL who love this channel thumbs up!!!!!!!!!!
Julie Garza That's wonderful! If you don't currently own a laminator and aren't sure if you really need it, you can always use the scotch self laminating sheets, I used those for about a year as I just received my laminator for christmas! Here is a link to the ones I used... goo.gl/SPCcqD
What brand are the file folders. Sorry, i know you said it but i didnt really understand. But you have a beautiful voice its just that i didnt understand what you said the brand was.
Seneca Hart Hi Seneca, under fair use law for images, downloading images for personal or educational use does not require permission. Unless you are redistributing the images in some way (posting them to your blog or selling them to people as ready made dividers for instance), its fair game to print something you see off the internet and use it for yourself. Great question though! I'm so glad to see that the members of my community are keeping their eyes out for things like this... too often I see images grabbed from the internet and pinterest and used to make stickers or other paper goodies and sold via Etsy or other online shops, where permission has not been given!
Alexis aka MissTrenchcoat Thanks for taking the time to reply. While I believe that your fair use argument is tenuous at best (it's business use, not educational use for you, since you are profiting from the video in the form of revenue from You Tube), I'm not an attorney, so I certainly won't argue the point with you. I guess I just wished that since you choose images that an artist has available for sale in print form, that you'd actually purchased them from the artist instead. It would have been an opportunity to educate against all that misuse you are talking about "via Etsy or other online shops", instead of just further blurring the lines of what is already a grey area. I just came here because I was interested in seeing the process of making dividers, really I won't be a pest, I just think it was a poor choice to use those images, but I get that I may be in the minority with my opinion.
Seneca Hart I completely understand where you are coming from and respect your opinion. I have addressed this issue in previous videos as well and am very cautious about the way I use images that I do not own in my public life. The way I understand it, is that because those graphics are not the focus of the video (I could have used any images to make those dividers, those were literally just the ones I was making at the time) it's fair use because it's the educational process of making those dividers that is getting me the views (and revenue), not the images themselves (I don't even have them in the thumbnail, actually). I don't think you came here to argue with me, but in my opinion and from what I have been taught being a designer myself (also married to a designer) is that I am not profiting directly from those images nor am I redistributing them, and the way they were used was respectful of their source (I did credit where I got them and did not lie). It is completely fair for people to take an image off a site and then use it for themselves, the same way I could cut a picture out of a magazine and put it on my wall. I hope you can understand and respect my opinion on this issue as well. I know it is a grey area whenever you use someone else's images, works, or ideas, but I believe I have been fair and honest and treated those images with respect. I apologize for the lengthy response, however, I do take issues like this very seriously and I want to make sure my point is clear. Thanks again for engaging with me in this discussion!

Do you recommend trimming laminate before running through the laminator or after?
Just found you and omg! Your hair 😍😍😍 beautiful!

You're really pretty!❤️I think I just want to cover my normal planner dividers with pretty wrapping paper - would that work? ❤️❤️
This was so incredibly helpful, thank you for the video!!
What size Martha Stewart tabs did you get? 1 inch or 2inch! Thanks so much! Love your videos!
So helpful! What size laminating pouches do you recommend?
Jane Melinda Powell If you mean the weight of the pouches, I use 3mil because thats what came with my laminator. It also came with a variety of different sized laminating sheets and I use all of them, whatever sort of fits for the item I am laminating!

Your new dividers look fab! Thanks for the tip on the scotch laminating sheets, I'm definitely going to check them out. :)

zzlco1831 Here it is goo.gl/qz8rF3
Great video!! Thank you for sharing. i always wondered how you make your own personalized designs. I like round corners, do you have suggestions on how i can do rounds if its laminated? thanks

Cinthya Ruales-Pazmino I punch after I laminate because then I don't have to do it twice!
Aw thank you and I will keep u posted thanks for your awesome words I appreciate it a lot
Nancy Delgado You are very welcome Nancy!
Hi there, enjoy the videos. Can you use any thickness of card? Is 220gsm card sufficient to use as a divider? Thank you. X
+Sylvia Bailey I always laminate mine so if you do that you can use anything. For unlamented 220 gsm sounds like it would work!
I love the purple cows laminator! Looking to buy one but not sure about which one to get, the 9" or 13". What size is your purple cows?
ochretide I think its the 9"
Alexis aka MissTrenchcoat Thanks! :)
Excellent video! I can't wait to make my own!!
I recently ordered some dividers for my Kate Spade personal planner, very cute but every time I zip it open & closed, the zipper bends the dividers:( what can I do? If I cut them will they rip or tear??
Priss2728 Yea, this is why I got rid of my Kate Spade Zip, I didn't like that either!
What are the measurements for the divider pages you made for the macaroon planner? I purchased the same planner but it didn't come with dividers to use a template and so far everything I have been looking at has been to big.
Krista Reiley The dimensions are the same as Filofax paper, can't think what they are right now, something like 3.75 x 6.5?
You literally save my life with this I just got a new Filofax (my 2nd one) and I hate the original dividers anyway thank you sooo much
+Lizzie Bizzie12345 Glad to help! Hope you'll subscribe!
This video gave me a lots of ideas, thank you!
Loved the diy video I cant wait to start making some for myself. does your step by step instructions also apply when using a holiday card or birthday card?
ashley belle Sure!
Thanks for the video! How did you decide on this laminator??
+Marla M My husband bought it for me for Christmas! It was what he found on Amazon!
Okay, I am trying to hold my emotions back but I have to say I LOVE this freakin planner. You should name her channel no. 5, she is so French. (Wee, wee) LOL. Pinkso 50 Thanks so much lady! I'm so glad you loved the video and the planner. It is so Chanel, isn't it, I can't believe it! xx
Love your style!
This was very helpful as I am going to make my own dividers. I love the cute card you put in there & the ribbon clip. How did you make the clip?
Karen-Nicole Higa I have a video on how to make your own paper clips!
I just made dividers today! Another great video! Thank you! Now I "need" a laminator!😂
Matteito Alvarado I got them from Target!
Love these, do you use dividers with top tabs? If yes can you do a video showing how you make a divider with top tabs for a5 Filofax please :-)
+Cathy Hughes No, I don't use top tabs myself, but you can follow this general tutorial and just put the tabs on the top instead of the side!
+Alexis aka MissTrenchcoat
Ok thank you :)
can i have a link so i can get the planner please
For the laminator sheets did you use 3mil,5mil, or 10mil to make them?
Roxys Playland I have 3mil because that is what came with my laminator!
Thank you for this video!! Going to try to make my own dividers!
+Loli Aburto Have fun!
what do you do if you don't need that many dividers? Cause then the tabs are too small… would you just wing it?
+AnnyLovesPink I'd just make less dividers and make the tabs a little bigger and make sure you space them out evenly.
What size is this? is it pocket or compact?
Thanks for this video, I've been wanting to make my own dividers for a while!
***** You are very welcome! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Thank you for this video - really useful.
Yay! Getting back into my Filofax so this helped a lot! Thank you 💗
Hi alexis (: where did you get you puncher.?
le nomis Here is a link! goo.gl/qz8rF3
You could play a drinking game with this video. Drink whenever you say divider/dividers.... that being said, a very useful video! Thank You! X
Really helpful video!!
Your hair is so beautiful I'm jealous!!
Isabella Andrade Thank you!
you are awesome! are you from the US
+Erin Kelley yes
If the dividers are laminated, isn't it annoying that they are a little bigger afterwards?
+Nonake12 No, i like that they are bigger, but you can always just cut them a tad smaller to make room for the lamination!
+Alexis aka MissTrenchcoat Thank you :D
Thanks for the reply
Can fabric be laminated?
Mai Gali I would think it may be too thick, but I guess it depends on the fabric!
💜 the video!
That is cool🐶
This really helped thx
alexisaka antisdel Great!
"Graphics pulled off their site"? Were they used with permission from Rifle Paper Co.?
