    I’m ace and I love your talk about asexuality. I get how for allos it’s hard to wrap your brain about it. Kudos to this show for showing forms of aceness.

    I really appreciate that this isn’t just reactions, you guys actually analyze everything!
    As someone at the ace + kink intersection (which is more common than you’d think) the Darren/Cash scenes here were groundbreaking. But I see most reviewers & fans either not talking about those scenes, or not really taking the time to try to understand it because they don’t immediately get it. It makes sense because it is such a niche experience that most people probably can’t relate to, but seeing those reactions still stings.
    I love that you guys actually talked about it. I think Josh’s interpretation is right but that Alex’s may also be right, but that remains to be seen.
    I feel like there are 2 ways to portray a minority experience: you can be very explicit about what their identity is and have a lot of exposition and really focus on that (as with Quinni being autistic) or you can be more subtle and have it not be the main focus of their character (as with Cash being ace). It’s weird because while I think both portrayals are well done, I think that Cash is a better character because he’s less “educational,” but at the same time it’s way easier for non-ace viewers to miss what’s going on. Like I wouldn’t mind showing Quinni scenes to someone to illustrate aspects of an experience but I wouldn’t do the same with Cash scenes.
    Having just watched all your reactions recently, I wanted to say I really appreciated (in 1x07 where Cash first explains about not liking sex) that Alex brought up complexities of how some people are gay but don’t like the “stereotypical” sex acts, and how this wasn’t unique to being ace. I think it’s not as simple as just labeling someone as ace and ignoring the fact that they’re also gay, because it’s a whole thing. Being ace doesn’t take away all the experiences related to being gay. I’m a gay woman so I’m sure it’s very different to being a gay ace man like Cash but as a teen I felt this weird lose-lose situation of having to deal with homophobia while also feeling like I was faking being gay, and I see that in the show.

    Love the heartbreak high videos, wait for them every week. Can I just say the rage I felt when Quinnie got bit? Like I get it's supoose to be "Bonding and coming together😏" but Jojo should've put her foot down. I mean it's the wilds of AUSTRAILIA. Also reactions to the Darren and Cash scene are so interesting to watch, and the understanding of the scene seems to vary with everyone's own history with sex or their sex drive. They made me a little sad, having been that partner that wants their partner to have everything and experience they can and then just feeling so meh after, it's very cool to see that in media in a way outside of the "Ugh females just don't want sex, men are so bad at sex" trope.

    4:40 do you remember how ant and darren were connected on the map in the first episode? 😅 And there were a few hints that he does not only like girls. So he is not straight. But I totaly agree with you. I loved that scene as well 😊

    The asexuality spectrum is so wide like everybody feels everything differently, of course. Some people are repulsed by sex, and some asexual people still have sex but just dont really enjoy it. I know it can be weird to allo people as i know a lot of people couldnt imagine feeling little to no sexual attraction 😅.

    I beg you, please start reacting to Thai LGBT series! They are varied, all types of themes. There is Romance with: Action, school, Doctors, dramas, mafias, people who practice some sport. Some series have comedy, others are made to make you cry. If you want a recommendation on where to start, I recommend: Ultimo Crepusculo, Not Me, Wandee goodday, Moonlight chicken.... (All here on UA-cam on the channel that makes the series, GMMTV)

    cash is definitely a sex repulsed asexual, talking about how things don’t feel good to him when he has pushed himself to do it in the past. cash and darren are just trying to figure out how to make that aspect work for both of them. which takes work and open conversations, something that unfortunately darren doesn’t seem to want

    ngl equating liking men over women to penis over vagina in this way is transphobic. I know that's not your intention but it still is, and as a gay trans guy I am so used to hearing cis gay men reduce being gay to liking cis-penis or act overly grossed out by vaginas that I just rolled my eyes. I say this as someone who usually loves your content.

    • @stevyers
      @stevyers 16 днів тому

      umm no, trans men appropriating what it means to be gay *is in fact homophobic* , feeling physical, sexual and emotional attraction to biological men and their penises and getting grossed out by vaginas is literally what it means to be gay, no matter how hard y'all try y'all can't erase what we are or shame us for it

    • @ipurpleu1668
      @ipurpleu1668 15 днів тому +4

      It isn't transphobic to be attracted to physical traits of a person. Some people don't care and some people do. As long as it isn't being used to hate or shun people.
      They aren’t being transphobic by trying to have a discussion and understanding of a character through their own experiences as gay men.

    • @wildoranges
      @wildoranges 14 днів тому +2

      @@ipurpleu1668 You should read what someone says before responding to them. This is not about being 'attracted to physical traits of a person' (though our attraction or lack thereof to certain physical traits can often stem from bigotry and prejudice in society and we should question that) . We are talking about reducing and equating being gay to liking penis. Someone saying they only like penis and are gay is *not* the same as saying being gay means only liking cis-penis.
      And our actions don't exist in a vacuum, someone may dislike vagina but acting this overly grossed out is a common behaviour among cis gay men and it stems from misogyny in our culture. It's not okay.
      (Also, at no point did his character in the show say that because he likes men he only likes penis now, that's a joke the reactor in this video made, hence my criticism.)
      Secondly, you do not get to tell me - a trans person - what is and isn't transphobic. You do not get to tell me what is and isn't oppressive to me and my community. Hope that helps.

    • @adrianblades530
      @adrianblades530 14 днів тому

      @@wildoranges I'm trying to work out how not liking vag is being transphobic ... talk about a stretch.

      @@ipurpleu1668 Not trying to be rude, but you are misunderstanding several things this person is saying.
      Liking dick =/= being gay in and of itself. The point is this is one of many reasons one is attracted to a particular gender.
      "People aren’t strictly attracted to femininity or masculinity or both, that’s why you can have straight women who like feminine men, or straight men who like masculine women, or gay men who like feminine men, and all around. Some people are attracted to trans people who are the gender they are attracted to, and some aren’t. And both are fine, as long as people aren’t using it to hate on or isolate trans people." Yes, this is an elaboration of the original point. I don't know why you didn't just say you misunderstood what they meant.
      I also don't know why you changed "can often stem" to "mostly stems" regarding prejudices. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was intentional, but this was an interesting strawman lol.
