REMEMBER THAT! I remember it was the same year waking life came out.....I really was a DIFFERENT person back then holy smokes.
For me, it was seeing the Destiny video on MTV[insert number here] before they started airing nothing but [insert garbage reality show here] all day everyday. Was amazed to the core.
I know. Ah music was my life blood then. The excitement of a new CD playing it until it was scratched to death. The rush to replace it but not have the heart to throw out the original. Later on I remember buying two of the same so one was to play, one to collect for just me.

SIA has the voice of a seasoned Blues singer.

She doesn't typically sing through her nose. She sounds more jazzy than blues. The various genres of music that she sings is what makes me admire her the most. You know it's her, and yet her persona is so different. Amazing singer/song writer. Very under-rated.

Impossible to not love Sia for the incredible contribution she gave to Zero 7. Always hoping for a comeback ❤
First time I heard Sia was this track and I had no idea who or what it was - but just had the line I only make jokes to distract myself from the truth....eventually found out the band and the singer and have been a massive fan ever since, lucky enough to see her perform in person in Oxford a few years ago, probably the best live gig I have ever seen.
Yeah, this was her introduction to most of us. Unbelievable album, still holds its own to this day.

I agree when Sia was with Zero7 I knew they had a gem. Her voice with the telent of zero7 behind her was the perfect recipe for quality music.
So glad we got to see Zero 7 with Sia, José González, and all the other wonderful musicians - years ago (2006?) in a tiny Boston club. What a dream! Still one of my absolute favorites!
Saw them in Chicago that same year, 2006. It was incredible. I had just moved to the Midwest alone a week prior, yet it felt so comforting being around Zero 7 "family" there.
Gonzalez is great. Zero7 has an act for picking great vocalists and musicians

@@jemenfous9343 Yeah, contrast her image then and now. that whole gimmick of covering her face with wild larger than life bows in her hair and campy apparel was childish and made her look desperate for a unique and exciting pop impression. Like gwen stafani in some ways. And the music was even worse imo. Just seemed to me like she was catering to the appeal of the masses while trying to maintain a mysterious and animated appearance.

I went to a KCRW benefit show at the (RIP) Universal Amphitheater..JAYsus! like 20+y ago FFS.. Beck came up to do a cpl songs and after he did 1, Sia walked out and of course the place went nuts, they did a cpl more and were fan freekin-tastic together, great chemistry, they both killed it. I was in the after-party and saw her standing to one side talking to a few people. I waited for a chance then went over with my wife and introduced ourselves and she was super sweet, friendly, and gracious, we chatted with her for a few min. thanked her for her incredible performance with Beck and for the hours literally of happy music a bunch of my MTN biker buddies and i had been enjoying for months as the Zero 7 CD was on continual loop in our shuttle truck back in those days. We'd all by then fallen a li'l bit in love with her just from listening to her sing to us regularly, so it was fantastic to be the first of us to actually see and then meet her in person and thank her for being her and wish her the best.... That was a very good night, & one of the best shows ever.
Hi! I really liked your story! 😊 There is NOTHING like Sia with Zero7! They are on the rotation of really good music my boss plays at the resale shop where I,ve worked for a long time now. You were so lucky to see her. Watching her on video is so great, her sweet face and personality and incredible singing just shine, with the other singers and the band is fantastic! I wish current fans of Sia could watch the videos from back then. I adore her! ☮

I will always be thankful that my ears started growing in that era of really good melodic electronic music with "garage" producers and great voices and performers marriages. Name any group or band other than mainstream rock or r&b(pop) and you end up with a lot of great music!
