- The Downfall of Naughty Dog is one of the greatest pleasures to witness when it comes to any studio in the gaming industry. Neil Druckman is a political hack that not only ruined the Last of Us & The Last of Us Part 2, but he also destroyed the story of Uncharted 4 by retconning existing lore and overall destroying the story the other games created by better writers. Recently Naughty Dog, and Sony's First Party Exclusive PlayStation Studios in General, have been swept with mass layoffs, delays, cancelations, unnecessary remasters and remakes, and now with the cancelation of their live service game The Last of Us Factions or The Last of Us Online. This comes conveniently after the massive leadership shakeup at Sony as Jim Ryan and Connie Booth were both Fired from PlayStation and Sony for taking the division in a live service oriented direction and fumbling the Activision Blizzard Microsoft Acquisition in Court. Going into 2024 and PlayStation currently has no major first party exclusive titles announced to be New Ps5 games in 2024 and instead only have Bungie's Marathon & Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine on the Horizon, but neither of those games have any sort of concrete release window. Sure The Last of Us Part II Remastered is coming out next month but let's face it, no one cares about that slop. PS5 may be dominating the sales for the console market but their first party lineup and state of the platform has never looked weaker from a games perspective.

The Last of Us Part 2 (TLOU2) Remastered was announced today for the PlayStation 5 (PS5) by Naughty Dog after The Last of Us Part II Factions mode was unofficially canceled and Naughty Dog was hit with a wave of layoffs. The "remastered" version of the last of us 2 will feature a new survival mode called "No Return" where you can play as various characters from the franchise which is obviously a remnant of the factions game mode. Aside from that pretty much nothing is changing and it is Safe to Say that The Last of Us Part 2 Remaster is, Pathetic, Sucks, is Trash, is Bad, and is Straight GARBAGE. If you hated the original TLOU2 for what a terrible game nothing is going to change with this new variation of the game. When looking at comparisons based on the trailer and gameplay, the visuals have not changed in the slightest and this is obviously an attempt by Naughty Dog to double dip on The Last of Us Part 2 and to get a version ready of the game for when the new Season of HBO's The Last of Us airs later in the year. This also help's Sony pad the pitiful first party exclusive games lineup for the PS5 which as far as games go does not seem to have a clear road map of AAA games in the pipeline aside from Insomniac's Wolverine Game & the extraction shooter from Bungie, Marathon. That I think is the most unforgiveable part of TLOU 2 tbh. It didn't just go woke and shit on everything game 1 was, they couldn't even be honest about it. At least most woke projects you can tell immediately from trailers. This game had THE most misleading trailers and marketing cycle I've ever seen. The fact they didn't get nailed for false/misleading advertising is gross.

I would say it was one of the most fun online shooters I've played. I never had a team to play with, but if you had 3 other people and could be more tactical with it it would have been s tier.

They could've updated the graphics from the old factions, added in new factions like the WLF, given the ability to edit your character, and used the gameplay engine from TLOU2 and people would've paid full price ($70) for it!!! They tried to do too much and failed big time!
Honestly, I would've been interested in a ltou style multiplayer game, especially if they could incorporate other game modes or other franchise characters into it like uncharted or infamous.

Why do modern game developers have to turn every multiplayer venture into a full-blown live-service game?!?!??? Last time I checked, so many classic multiplayer games still function to this day because of local multiplayer features and offline modes with bots. Not everything has to be the next Fortnite or Destiny. Not everything has to be an endless drivel of content slop like what Call of Duty turned into. Jeez. Live service killed traditional multiplayer. Also, if Naughty Dog genuinely cared about catering to what used to be their core audience, they wouldn't have disrespected and absolutely desecrated Joel Miller's legacy.

There's literally nothing different on the "remastered " version of tlou 2 other than there being an adaptive trigger option for the ps5. The remastered version is worth $10 at most as an upgrade, not 40 as a new game

The simple truth is that ND and Sony knows any multiplayer mode wouldn't have the longevity or profit margins of Fortnite or COD. The days of multi-player modes as a fun bonus mode have kinda gone bye-bye.

And you can already imagine the amount of Damage Control from Sony Ponies over this, like how Adam Sessler did with The Order: 1886, where he went on record saying a game doesn't necessarily need multiplayer to be good. And to a degree, Sessler was right, but the principal is that if you promise something big like that and don't deliver, maybe don't make such a promise.

Bungie bounced on the TLOU2 multiplayer project but Naughty Dog doesn't want/can't say that publicly. The scope of it probably changed drastically over the past 2 years when it was, most likely, pushed into being a live service game.

I would fire them all for being stupid. They didnt think the excuse through because it makes them look like idiots. However only fanboys those who are denial would believe the "we wanted to stick to what we were good at being a single player game studio".

I thought if you own TLOU pt 2 on ps4 then you get the upgrade for $10. It's still saying it's $49.99 on the ps store. Does it matter if it's a physical copy or digital?
As far as nintendo the only punch back would be type of games they develops, but thats their identity. Also nintendo is simple as in they dont go out they way to break or change something that not broken, they also listen to the community

at any point in time, Naughty Dog could have made Factions 2 a traditional multiplayer game (like before) and add new content based on positive reception. but no, everyone wants to be Fortnite overnight, which took Epic Games years to succeed, but instead of sticking the landing they iced the project and left people jobless during an economic recession; all because management can't get their egos in check, and are more concerned about their stardom and kicking the ladder out from behind them.

Naughty Dog is working on another single player focused "game." I hope it isn't a Punisher game. I really really do want a new Punisher game, but not one made by Naughty Dog. I just want a current gen version of Punisher 2005.

I really liked The Last of Us Multiplayer and im a little bummed that this got cancelled, but at the same time, I couldn't care less as my backlog of good games is piling up on me.
Naughty Dog hasn’t been great since Jak and Daxter ended. They started putting story first and while journos may like that, I’ll always think Precursor Legacy was their peak.

I think very few games dominate the multiplayer market (cod, Fortnite), and if other studios even try to compete with them, then they will fail and it will shut down in 2 to 3 years.

Naughty Dog has really become the Lucasfilm of gaming, with the amount of Ls they have without taking any accountability. If this was any other studio, someone would be laid off, but because Neil Druckmann is Sony's golden boy the mainstream has to keep making excuses for them.
