I went out SOBO from Abol bridge 4 days after you got out on the KI road. The trail the first two day was a cow path and I fell 3 times! The suck is real!
So glad Cody could join you for the 100 mile wilderness as well as climbing Mt Katahdin. I'm sure his support was huge & made your hike more enjoyable & safer. Kudos to Cody for taking time to join you from Ohio. Hope to see more of your vlogs. They are so inspirational & your smile makes my day! Take care. Hope you can complete the 87 miles of the AT in the near future.
It's good you got off trail. Your hikes have had no joy or sense of fun, even before the bad weather. Focus on what makes you happy, work on your successful business, and post when you're ready. Cody is a good friend.
I have followed you sense you started back in February & even went back and viewed your copulation posting of your entire 2021 AT Thru Hike & also started following you on your business UA-cam channel. You are a very accomplished entrepreneur, and UA-cam channel vlogger. You having nothing to prove to your subscribers, they love you & support your decisions and only want the best for you. I have subscribed & watch no less than eight 2023 Thru Hikers, each one offering a different perspective of their Appalachian Trail experience. But you Taylor whenever I come back, you’re the one that’s at the bar that I judged all the others and that does not take away from what they post it. I’m still following two a NoBo & a SoBo both soon you’re complete by summer team Katahdin in Maine or Springer Mountain in Georgia. Lol love you but especially you sparked a desire in me to get out more this year to try some hiking and plant a seed with some hope that I might try to through hike, but if not that at least two section hikes and experience some of the moments and share and meet some of the people on the trail and possible share the great trail experience while the 71 year old body can. So I’ll leave you with my hope that I see you finish the trail this year but if not, it’s all you through hiker say it’s your hike. God love you and may you continue to be blessed with the love for the outdoors, and all the experiences you can add to your life.❤😊
I really respect your decision. It shows maturity and good business sense, plus it gives us something to look forward to as you make plans to finish the few final miles of your hike. Thanks.
I'm glad to see you two safely off with a bit of Nahampsha hospitality for Cody before his trip home to Ohio. Hopefully you helped him with his Google Map plans so he can avoid Canada on the trip home 😁. I'm looking forward to your future vlogs and certainly hope you can knock out those last 87 miles in better conditions to complete your second thru-hike on the AT. Thanks for taking me along on this trip...
You did well to accomplish all that you did especially with the wild weather conditions and so many treacherous water crossings!! It's good to share the difficult choices to remain safe while hiking.
Cody you are an amazing friend !!! Few people have someone in their life like you . Taylor thanks for sharing your hiking life - I will miss your videos - until the last few miles .
Love cody and your friendship. Taylor thanks for taking us along on your hike. I found you early on this year when you did a next shelter interview. I love following your channel and am always rooting for you!
Well done, Taylor. You truly embody the mantra, 'Hike your own hike' for all the best reasons. Nice to have Cody back for this stretch as you contemplated the many decision points thrown at you by the weather and terrain. Hope you can complete the final 80+/- miles soon when it will be a bit warmer. You will then be a 'Thru Two'. I have enjoyed your videos since your first hike and appreciate the time, skills, and imagination that went into each video. Mac
I loved watching you and Cody hike together. I also loved all your 2023 videos. I'll miss seeing them and look forward to upcoming videos. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. I’ve enjoyed each one! I appreciate all your handwork and sacrifice. Regardless of what you do, keep charging!!
It's ok to stop when its not fun anymore! In terms of completion, think of the extremely hard obstacles you overcame and completed on this 2023 hike! Well done!
I love watching you and Cody hiking together! So much fun, what a great friend he is to come all the way and hike with you. It would be awesome if you could both do another thru hike together like the pct or something like that.
Rumor has it that there was a sudden drop in viewership by all other vloggers the day you and Cody joined back up. In kindness you both decided to “drop out” in order to give them back their viewers. Just what I would expect from 2 class acts! Thank you both.
Wow, I did not expect that ending. But paying the bills is a real thing. I hope you do get to finish. You’re so close. 2023 was/is a tough year (as I remark from my comfy couch) to hike the AT. Whatever makes you happy 👍.
Love following you and Cody, such great team. Taylor, you do what you need to do, 87 miles can wait, and we'll be here for whatever comes next. Thanks for sharing this latest section with us. 😊
I hope you have more videos. I have watched your other thru hike and now this one. I will miss seeing your adventures. I am sure you need to rest and go on with your life. Take good care.
I'm surprised you didn't remove your socks just to cross the river. At least you wouldn't have wet socks. Congrats on all the progress you've made this month! I'm glad Cody's been with you this round!
Interesting hike this year to say the least, thanks so much for sharing. I've enjoyed following along and will continue to support your channel as I have since the beginning.
I certainly can't fault you for having to pay bills. It is a fact of life. 😊 So glad Cody came out to hike with you again. What a great guy. ❤ Wishing all the best, Taylor!
I was happy Cody was with you on this part of the hike. Please keep posting updates about what’s going on in your life. I hope you make the last 87 miles. You are a smart hiker. ❤❤❤
Damn they say never quit on a bad day, but it looks like you quit on a spectacular day. You had better hurry and finish your hike or you will be finishing it in the snow.
I think this year was an incredibly difficult year to do a thru-hike of the AT. Way too much rain! I enjoyed your videos, too bad real life got in the way.❤
This season has been rough for AT hikers. I watched 4 people's hikes this year, and only Stella Hikes is the only one to finish so far. Two got off trail and I'm sure you'll finish being less than 100 miles from the finish line
I kind of liken this video to the book ‘A Walk In The Woods’. As much as I was disappointed that Bryson and Katz didn’t complete the whole trail, their journeys made me laugh, cry and kept me in suspense. Even if you don’t finish it’s been a hell of a ride. I see Fresh Ground’s posts on IG of NOBOers continuing to summit. Thankfully they were kept safe in the most trying of conditions. I’ve been a subscriber for a long time. I’m looking forward to future content, whatever that may be. God Bless you, Chet, your Mom and Dad and Cody. Hike on !!!
Smiles not miles. KI Rd is an easy place to get off. Surprised there weren't a million tourists and cars in the lot in your video. Maybe that's just a summer thing. Go check out the falls at Gulf Haggas next time you're there if you didn't have a chance to yet. I hope you can piece the rest together. So far, your pace is so fast, it shouldn't take too long, and you could catch more colors later in the season.
I'm not gonna lie... I teared-up when it got to the, 'say goodbye to Cody', moment. 😢 It was fun getting to know him since I missed your 2021 hike together. Best of Luck to that Ohio Hikin' Cool Cat! 🥾😎💦🌲🔆 Anyway... not exactly the 'final' hike you planned, or the one we thought you would have, but some fun moments and stunning scenery along the way. I was waiting for the 'beautiful view of Katahdin' that was prompted by the NOBO comment, but it was never mentioned again... did I miss it? Thanks for taking us along. See you for the Final 87. 🍁💦🍂 Hi, Chet! 👋
On wet shoes- I know pack weight is of utmost importance but I would think one might carry a pair of super low profile shower sandals for otherwise dry days and wear them while river/wet crossing to keep your shoes and socks dry on a dry day. They also would be handy for camp shoes at the end of the day and quick bathroom trips at night.
I had some sandals to use at camp. But the water was way too frequent to keep changing shoes to stay dry. The river crossings were also a little too rough and wearing my trail runners in them were the safer option
If you don’t want wet shoes, socks and pants, you could switch to shorts and sandals. Carry your clothes in your pack and change back into pants on the other side. Wet clothes in late fall or spring 40ish weather invites hypothermia so there is a safety reason as well as comfort. In summer it’s not an issue you will dry quickly.
My understanding is if you did 2,000 miles in one year you can be an official 2,000 miler with the ATC, right? Does 2,000 miles equal a completed through hike? And if so, do the 87 miles left really matter? Anyone who knows the answer to this, please feel free to respond with a comment!
The ATC refers to someone who’s completed the whole trail, in whatever amount of time, as a 2000 miler, and a through hiker is someone who completes it within 12 months. They use the 2000 miler term because the total length changes a bit every year. You’re not a 2000 miler, or through hiker, until you finish.
Your overnight backpacking videos, inspire me to wake up early before the sun rises to go hiking, and "Fly" fishing. I enjoy being a low key East coast "Fly Guy".
I get the feeling it was more Cody who was having the issues. I don't know, but it would not surprise me is she has already completed this hike. But she sure blew a great weather window to finish in.
Hello, I am Lina from the FLOWSOLE brand. I like your creative content very much. I sent you an email and hope to have the opportunity to cooperate with you.
Omg..I do understand. I have watched every video on both AT hikes!!
Will watch for the finish. Thanks for these wonderful videos!!
'moments of suck' is such a wonderful phrase...

Still a fan no matter what Taylor! I always enjoy your videos and it was great to see Cody back out on the trail. Keep on hiking!
Kinda crying at this one. What a great friendship you have with Cody. (Yeah, Ohio!)
Taylor after watching your recent videos, I know for a fact I’m not gonna ever through hike the AT!!!😊👍👏🏻🏕️🐿️🦦🐻🗻⛺️⛰️

What a great guy Cody is. 😊 What the heck, .1 to go, and a final river crossing to re-soak your feet! Until the next adventure, take care Nahamsha. ✌️
It was fun watching you two hiking together again. It seems like you could finish up with 4 or 5 day hikes. Thanks for sharing Taylor!

That's fair Taylor. I'm getting the feeling you have grown out of through hiking, which is totally cool.
Glad you have not been alone on this leg of the AT. I have been hiking vicariously with you because I would never be able to make this trek.
Well done, Taylor. You truly embody the mantra, 'Hike your own hike' for all the best reasons. Really good to see you two trekking, and that water is freezing. Excellent journey, I throughly enjoyed watching 👍

It was great seeing you hike with Cody. I look forward to seeing you finish your thru hike. 87 miles is not alot of miles.
I admire your determination and know you will finish your thru hike next year. Your amazing!!
Awesome Taylor! Thanks for sharing. This was a good one series to watch!

It seems like the 100 miles wilderness was really tough on you guys. Way to hang it there! I’m glad Cody was with you to keep the moral high!

BUMMER … that there were moments of SUCK … hopefully, you finish those 88 miles soon
I’ll miss my two favorite hikers.

I'm guessing 30 miles left in the 100MW. What other section(s) are left?
you have a very trusting husband wishing you well in your next adventure
Nooooo it's over! No more AT hiking videos for me to watch for six months or so... 😢
Well, 87 miles on the southbound direction is just 4 day hikes, right? Sections farthest away in fall and closest ones if it snows?
The obstacle would be not being able to cross the kennebec river

I think that was the PCT, and only for 2023, because of the snow conditions in the Sierra.
