I have been a Leafs fan for 55 years, and, I was never prouder than during this ceremony. I'm so happy with job the current Leafs management is doing, they're building a winner, one draft at a time. This was long overdue. I had the good fortune to watch 11 of these great Maple Leafs play, live, during my life. My parents had seasons tickets in the 1940's and saw most of the others. Had Johnny Bauer coach me one year up in Toronto I decided to take a break and dressed as a goalie which I normally didn’t play after about five minutes he came over me put his hand on my shoulder and he looked down at the ice and he said and I don’t think playing goalie is for you because I don’t think you can really stop the park I think if you jumped in front of a train would miss you and go through your legs I almost pissed myself laughing I said I’m just taking a break for a couple hours he goes oh thank God I thought you were the new goalie. I found out that George Armstrong is a patient of the eye doctor I work for, so I talked to him today. (The name sounded familiar when I pulled his chart, then when he came in, I looked him up on wikipedia real quick, just to see if it was 'the' George Armstrong - confirmed when the DOB's matched, haha.) After he left, I heard my doctor tell the other doctor "when I congratulated him on all his accolades, he said 'thank God it's over.'" So this ceremony really was closure for all these players who weren't getting the treatment they deserve until now.
That was a very well done presentation I just wish that Andy Frost was the vice for this would have been the cherry on top that's a big change for me lol
About time the culture changed. We need one more good draft and this team is on its way back to the top. Go not and get Tavares at the end of the season and you have Matthews, Tavares and Kadri up the middle, not too bad
Darryl Sittlers 10 points in 1 game will never be broken and if it wasn't for Ballard Fkn up the team in the mid 70s the leafs were only 1 or 2 players away of winning the cup
This is my first time watching this video. I learned about the legacy of The Maple Leafs; unfortunately, I also learned about the avaricious era of Harold Ballard. This act puts all of the wrongs of that management right, and I got major feels when when I saw the descendants of fallen Leafs standing in their place. I like seeing management setting a better path for the fans/ team relationship. Great job, Toronto.
The announcer is great, but this would've been better if this was narrated by the one and only Maple Leaf Gardens announcer Paul Morris. He too is a legend.
I was saying to my wife the other day that i thought it was ridiculously stupid that some of the numbers of the "honoured" Leafs weren't being issued and taken out of circulation. For example 17 hasn't been worn since Clark left, same with 13 and Sundin, Sittler's 27 hasnt been handed out since Mike Peca in 2007. But then other numbers were being handed out like crazy?!? Examples like 21, 4, 9, 10 have all been continuously given out to run of the mill players. Was Salming any less of a player then Clark? You could argue Salming was far superior to Clark on his HOF induction alone. So i am happy they finally put this issue to bed and just retired them all properly. Shanahan has done an excellent job from top to bottom bringing prestige to this organization. Getting Keon back and retiring his number 14 was essential and he did it. Give it a few more years and the Leafs will also be a very good team on the ice if they stick to the current plan.
That voice at the Scotia Bank Arena who always say Maple Leafs Goal . He should do the Winter Classic , Stadium Series & Heritage Classic games on the East Coast

Rest in peace Mr Bower well deserved
For Tonight I would like to the Leafs win !
nothing against P.A. Announcer Mike Ross, but MLSE, PLEASE bring Andy Frost back!
Really, really well done. We're simply not used to having nice things!
About time the culture changed. We need one more good draft and this team is on its way back to the top. Go not and get Tavares at the end of the season and you have Matthews, Tavares and Kadri up the middle, not too bad
Steve Smith goteem
22:06 get ready for the feels..
Greatest Maple Leaf of all time?! Why the hell have I never heard of this guy?! I friggin live in toronto and I had no idea who he was!
Cleary you knew nothing about Hockey.
What a class act -- enjoyed watching!
December 27th 1999
Dubas and the current roster need to sit and watch this a couple of times!!!
Darryl Sittlers 10 points in 1 game will never be broken and if it wasn't for Ballard Fkn up the team in the mid 70s the leafs were only 1 or 2 players away of winning the cup
I'm happy all those numbers are Retired.
God bless the legends. Also R.I.P. Bower.
Still have a long way to go finally winning the cup but that move is one of the best things leafs has done since last conference finals apperance
Play Offs Will Be A Deep One Leafs Goin To The Stanley Cup
Honoured numbers: 1, 4, 7, 9, 10, 13, 14, 17, 21, 27 and 93
Retired numbers: 5 and 6
The announcer is great, but this would've been better if this was narrated by the one and only Maple Leaf Gardens announcer Paul Morris.
Why wasn't Mats there? He was literally just in Toronto a couple weeks ago.
jayvardy wife was expecting child.
Ya shittered bud
I'm not crying, you're crying.
We are both crying 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
As a Sens fan, I didn’t cry at all, but it was still a very beautiful thing
I always think it's pretty neat to see my boss Jeri Horton at these events representing her father
RIP Johnny Bower!
RIP Johnny
You can really tell how much being a Leaf meant to Sittler. Especially being Captain.
Wow, I lost it at Bower.
