I love that Christina said "take him" regarding Owen with no thought whatsoever. At this point, she's been with Owen for months/a year vs the many years she's been training to become a cardio god. I'm confused by your surprise when she's made it known from day 1 that she was here to be a legendary surgeon first and foremost. Glad I stuck around for the end to realize you do recognize it's on brand.

The "take him" moment is just the epitome of Cristina Yangs character and I love it.

No one can help the Chief right now because he won't admit he has a problem. So any attempts to help him now would probably be met with anger or resentment, & be rejected because he thinks he's got it "under control".

In my opinion, I think that Meredith even if not consciously has put Richard in the father position. She was neglected and has essentially been left with no parents. Thatcher from what we've seen hasn't tried to talk to Meredith after her giving him her liver. She has been looked after by Richard and she's put him in the position of a father figure. She doesn't want to admit that another parental figure ( especially after how he used the close relationship whilst teaching her to keep her quiet) isn't actually there for that relationship. If she admits he's an alcoholic then everything he's done is tainted.
Meredith is in a tough position and I don't envy her at all. I think Bailey has been his loyal student. Richard has been this goal or model for who she wants to be. To admit his fault is hard, especially as she has essentially become the chief of general surgery which I see as another form of bribery from Richard. Both Mer and Bailey want to keep Richard as this figure head for their own reasons. It's sad as he needs help.
With Christina, I hole heartedly understand her. She felt her dad die as a child as she told Owen fairly early on. Cardio surgery has been her life goal. It's what she lives and breathes. She wouldn't be herself without it. When Mer was in bed after the transplant and the new mercy west people came in Christina literally broke down crying because she didn't know why she was even there. At that point she was with Owen. Christina feels just like everyone else, she just pushes her feelings down because she doesn't know how to cope with them. She learnt her own way to cope.
Yes she loves Owen, she loved Burke too. Burke left her. And so I can see how even if not noticeable on the surface, Christina is building up defences. Burke left and took Cardio with him. When he left, she had nothing. Hahn hated her and wouldn't let her learn, Dixon wasn't compatible ( I might be forgetting one or two ) and so she 'ran them off'. She needed a teacher. Now she has Teddy. And she loves Teddy, she learns and grows with teddy. She also operates. She needs the stability of if Owen leaves, where will it leave her. With Teddy she has a teacher and environment where she will learn. Without Teddy she is right back to when Burke left. Christina might have blurted it out or she might not have. I believe even subconsciously she knows at this point she can survive loosing Owen. If she looses her teacher, she looses her ability to stay. Maybe her ability to continue. Teddy was her lifeline, and after being crushed then after ages finally getting a lifeline she can't loose it. If she is crushed again, she doesn't know if she has the strength to hold onto another lifeline.

I know they didn't do the mechanical valve, but those things really do click. They can be so loud I heard one across the room.

I don't consider it cheating as Lexie and Mark are broken up and Alex and Izzie are separated. But, technically it was cheating on Alex's part since he's still married. I just didn't expect that Lexie would go back into bed with Alex given he has forgotten he slept with her before.

😂😂 Christina saying take Owen will forever be engraved to my memory 😂 it’s hilarious and I completely understand mer like she knows u can’t help someone if they don’t want it I feel like Richard is using surgery to keep his secret for sure but also I think she knows deep down it’s wrong so she told Derek even if Richard is practicing medicine at the moment

I don't necessarily think that Lexi and Alex were cheating HOWEVER, sleeping with someone else the day you break up with your partner is pretty shitty, I simply can't understand how people think that sleeping with someone else will make them forget the relationship that literally ended 2 seconds ago. Specially in this type of situations when they didn't try to find a compromise with a clearer head.

Lexi & Alex by strict definition, it might not be cheating. It is just plain ludicrous though. Cristina's 'Fine, take him!', desparate to keep Teddy around... Yeah, that one's kinda infamous.
On Mer finally telling Derek abour Richard, I agree she can't help him and others possibly could, more than that, it's not really something she should be keeping from her post-it husband, though the time take & flip-flopping over telling him is also understandable.
Oh - don't worry, I've a feeling there's lots more episodes coming up that you'll be happy to have a long chat about down the line!

while i dont think its common i get what the football player said. he had a baby and became afraid. having a child really shifts your world and priorities and how you think about everything. so to suddenly think oh, if I get hurt I might not be able to take care of my child, or I might get so many brain injuries I don't know her name or whatever. it changes things. i don't think most people would walk away from that kinda money but I do get what they did with his character. the Christina thing bothered me. she really does need a mentor, she doesn't do well mentally when she doesn't have her work life and learning supported. but it really just sounds like she doesn't love owen that much. the thing with the chief pisses me off, like people shouldn't cover for him. he needs to be held accountable. its so dangerous. and lexi...yeah she shouldn't have to be raising a kid and a grandkid at her age. at any age you cant sign someone else up for that. its a lot. i don't think sleeping with alex was the best call. but I think leaving the mark situation probably was.

This was a great episode, but I have three things to say, regarding Mark and Lexie, Grey's Anatomy must have had an unwritten rule that no heterosexual couple were allowed to be together longer than Christina was with Burke, because every couple breaks up a year after they start dating so the fact that Lexie had sex with Alex the same night she broke up with Mark told me everything I needed to know about how the writers thought of true love. In love one minute, screw someone else, the next. 22:04 When Yang told Teddy, "Take him!", as you later acknowledged, I don't know how anyone who understood her character could be surprised by that line. It perfectly encapsulated who had always been. 24:09 Regarding Lexie's behavior, I think jumping into bed with another guy would be the last thing a typical woman would do after she broke up with the love of her life, so this had more to do with what I call the Grey's Anatomy one year break up rule. Lexie was a hot girl, but if it were me and I just found out that she just broke up with a guy that she was living with, I wouldn't have sex with her.

The "take him" made a lot of sense to me for Cristina, and I don't think he is "nothing" to her at all. She's gifted, uniquely so, and she understands that. She was wasting away without a way to nurture that gift... like if you were a painter but you were never allowedto paint, or a writer who couldn't write -- or even just, say, a MOTHER who could not be with her children. I associate that with how Cristina feels about hearts and heart surgery. It feels callous because she's not talking about sacrificing something hugely important that she loves very much for a more relatable cause. I thought it was quintessentially Cristina, extremely honestly HERSELF - which she has been also trying to SHOW to Owen, in her own way, and he has been continually not gettingit. I don't love that she said it -- but I get it and I respect how honesdt it was for her character! And I think she didn't love that she said it either, because a second after it came out, like instinct, she registered it and her face shifted.
