    This is amazing!! He is truly a very talented violinist. I don't think I could ever play one note of this song, and he just played all of it. Astounding.

    oh, shut up... it is a tune called yankee doodle which is a very old American folk song. It was unfortunately used as a theme song for Barney

    There are some people who, if this guy was 3 years old and playing this with his toes would still find room to be critical.

    @seektheworld I agree.. Somehow, you reminded me about the Washington DC experiment..just an man, usually dressed, with a violin singing in the subway exit..and the rest you already know probably..One more proof that things are not always as they seems to be :)

    The edition I have is by Mary Canberg and Bell cuts alot out. Does anyone know whether or not his is the "approved" (from Gingold) edition or does he just make these cuts for this You Tube performance?

    Well obviously judging by the fact that there are swivel chairs on the stage and somebody filmed it on a personal camera from the front row, this was an informal event. I'm sure nobody in the audience minded the fact that he was wearing a t shirt.

    @unclejuniorsoprano So, if I'm understanding you correctly, talent is only accessible to people dressed a certain way? Or, perhaps, if we do not adhere to tradition then our talent is of no value?

    @carloslaran He started playing seriously at 12, and is much more musical than Vengerov. Technique doesn't matter if your piece sounds cold, as Heifetz demonstrates spectacularly for us.

    You are SO eloquent-- you ought to be a music critic. What a tremendous reply you made to my comment! You're mother must be quite proud of you & I'm sure you live with your mother. A grown-up adult, independent, would never write such rubbish as that.

    Yankee Doodle is an eloquent piece of music and our FIRST national anthem. Damn Brits wanted to make fun of us by calling us "Yankee Doodle". Jokes on you red coats, WE WON and turned your insult into a national anthem and now an old American folk song. Btw, please don't associate this song with Barney -_-

    Watching this video of JB is like watching that nauseating movie, "The Blair Witch Project" in that there really wasn't anything to that movie; you only got dizzy from by it. JB begins by talking like he has a speech impediment. Why talk down to people when you don't have to? He's got a translator for God sake!. He plays with conniption fits-- like he's having a bad time taking a shit. I might add that this is the perfect song for him to play. Yes indeed, JB really is a Yankee Doodle Boy!

    Okay so him getting into the music makes it shitty? Dress appearance shouldn't determine talent, you boob. You should see many orchestras practice they don't wear 500 dollar sets of clothes every day or suits. As for you not hearing the harmonics it was recorded on a walmart camcorder not some 6,000 dollar hollywood set.

    @mesho512 Joshua Bell is a very good violinist, a virtuoso. however, if compared to maxim vengerov, unfortunately he doesnt come close. vengerov has a technique that very few ppl. on earth have. bell's technique can be found in just about any professional calibre orchestral violinist. plus bell didnt have to go through all the rough proving points(competitions) that vengerov went through.

    How is it possible for someone to make a $3 million Cremonese treasure sound like a run-of-the-mill Suzuki fiddle......?

  • @unclejuniorsoprano
    @unclejuniorsoprano 13 років тому

    Makes me want to join the Confederacy. Got sea sick watching him sway about. Couldn't hear half of his harmonics. By the way he's dressed I expected him to say something like "HEY DUDE, LET'S PARTY!"

    Try to imagine Heifetz, Milstein, or David Oistrakh standing there before a group of students wearing a t-shirt like he's about ready to go out drinking with the guys at a college beer joint. He is absolutely disgust. As far as his playing is concerned, Joshua Bell will never be used as a measuring stick as are the three previously mentioned. Here is an example of a boy who has never gone beyond his adolescence. JB is a disgrace. I'd be surprised if he didn't hit on a girl while he was there.

  • @unclejuniorsoprano
    @unclejuniorsoprano 13 років тому

    Of course, Gingold is dead for God sakes! He's probably turning in his grave right now knowing what a schmuck JB is in this video. What, is he too great to at least dress in a respectable manner? He pretends to be some sort of bard of violin playing, so he dresses down like a beatnik. I won't even get into his playing. Violin playing hasn't improved since Heifetz. This is proof of that. The standard of excellence has greatly diminished since then. THIS is the best Gingold could do???

  • @unclejuniorsoprano
    @unclejuniorsoprano 12 років тому

    So many of Joshua Bell's fans tend to be emotional lunatics; dangerously unstable. It must be depressing for women to see the boy is getting older but isn't the least bit wiser. It must also be disheartening for young male violinist to find out that despite his effeminate traits, JB isn't gay. He may be a damn good fiddle player, but he'll never be revered for his distinct tone or bowing style-- only his buffoonery & slovenly dress code will prevail.
