I'd argue that was the point of the original song. The grand melody contrasted with the lyrics, highlighting the highs the narrator had as a king, before at the end the music sober up to deliver the sad undertone. As a french, this song hits so much. It talks about French Revolution and the day when the french killed Louis XVI (revolutionaries wait for my head on a silver plate) in 1793. Before his execution, he wanted to give a speech but they didn't let him and he died without having the possibility to say the last few words to the French audience. That's kinda sad when you think of it. And some of the references in the original song are really related to him : "I held the key" = this phrase has of course a metaphorical meaning but also referred to Louis' passion: locksmithing. That's funny because before I never really paid intention to the lyrics but now it seems so clear to me
@sofiajimenez4035 yess that's the painting "La liberté guidant le peuple" by Delacroix during the Revolution of 1830 (fun fact: one of the character was inspired by Gavroche)
in grade 9, i had the chance to learn about the French revolution. it was so short-lived though, as we learned about it for less than a week. thank you so much for informing us of this. this revolution had always been fascinating to me and i have yearned to learn more!
I know this is supposed to sound sad, and it kind of does, but to me it sounds more like you're starting to recover from a rough time in your life. Great work!
Huh, this is interesting cause Viva La Vida always sounded like a sad song to me. Like, I suppose it didn’t have an overly obvious sad tune to it, but when you pay attention to the lyrics, it’s clearly not a happy song or story. Wonderful cover! I really like your take on it!
It’s because it’s taken from the lost last speech of the king of France before his execution during the French Revolution, he tried to give a speech but the crowd booed and told them to get on with it, so they guillotined him before he could truly give his last speech
This popped up in my recommended and i'm not complaining, your voice is something special. Puts a smile on my face. Keep up the amazing work, you're amazing!
I've noticed as a musician that a lot of people when they "transform" songs that they do it extremely simply, to make it lofi you add a filter and a lot of reverb and it's done. I went into this expecting to hear the crackling sound filter and too much compression, but I was pleasantly surprised, good job :D
without fail at 0:27 seconds every single time i hear this part of the song my brain automatically supplies “it was the creepers and the skeletons, blew down the doors and let me in” and i am so sorry
This randomly popped up on my recommended, I couldn’t even recall the song but i just felt like i needed to watch it. This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard, thank you for making this.
Always found the tune of the song very energetic, but even though this is sad, it brings a COMPLETELY new vibe that rocks. I played it on repeat at least 10 times in a row. Great voice.
@@lemonl0rd173 Perhaps it’s meant to be his final speech as other comments state, but everything in the speech is related to the feelings he would have in his final moments, and most of the wordplay you’ll read in scripture. Matthew 7: 24-27 is a good example used in the song
We all need to agree that we need this on singing platforms!! It is angelic and you’ve literally made me see a whole new aspect of singing an already sad song that hits the spot even more.
absolutely beautiful cover. this is one of my most favorite songs and you really captured how the nostalgia and regret i often associate with this song.

Geez, this is amazing, and I love the soft beat that kicked in so much. Also, amazing voice!! Viva la Vida has definitely always been my favorite song by them, so its really nice to hear such an amazing and sweet cover of it
this is how i always felt the song. the lyrics are so bittersweet and full of regret... then hearing it in the mincraft cover just pushed that idea forward.. thanks for bringing the idea to life
This song really echoes on my pretty short 16 years of living in this floating ball of rock. I was an academic achiever back then on my elementary days, I always had what i wanted, everyone would be very happy to see me, its like im famous or something and everyone would just like me, they'd treat me right and basically everyone liked me, until one day, i lost the academic achievements, those achievements are like everything to me back then but i only realized it pretty recently, i started with an academic achiever streak to just a student until i reached rock bottom, which is now, now i even receive failing grades. I was on top of the world, I had a taste on what being the best feels like, and tbh it felt really amazing, now i lose the most important friends and people because of being irresponsible and being a stupid person. If you've reached this far and you relate to what im saying, if you are irresponsible and lazy as well, learn this lesson "Be Responsible, Work Hard And Smart" and change your life. I'd like to turn my life around, i hope you can turn yours as well.
I'd like to turn my life around too, it would happen some day eventually, there's no way we could continue living like this, but still somehow that day feels far. Of course it would just take a change of attitude, but after a couple of years of not changing it gets demoralising. there are so many factors i could blame(such as covid and hanging out with a sketchy crowd), but im unconvinced, it's definitely my fault. im 16 too, and it was nice seeing this message, because of how much i resonate with it. I hope we both turn our lives around as soon as possible. Ahem. Let's go! We can do it!
Basically u need two tools the key of the song and the circle of fifths. Every song (or part of a song in some cases) is written in a key, which could be major (happy tone) or minor (sad tone). Every key has a set of notes and a set of chords u can use to compose your song. The "circle of fifths" is a scheme that can be used to link a major key to its relative minor (e.g. if a song is in C major to make it sad u have to change alla C chords in Am chords, all E notes in Eb notes, all A notes in Ab notes and so on)
As soon as it finished I replayed and repeated another 10 times. WOW! Your voice is absolutely beautiful. So calming. You made this song 10x sadder, I love it 🥰
Very well said indeed. An example of the two ways of thinking, and sadly there is a third one, happy that it’s over, hope in the future noone will have that one, i’ve dealt with it and damn it’s hard, but you’ll come back out fighting stronger than ever before. You don’t know what you have until it’s lost. Just like time, when youre not paying attention it’ll slip right through your hands, including the beautiful moments
@@roanoord6436 So very well said, sir or ma'am. You know, this hits really close to home for me, as I have also been through this. And I'll tell you too, that it's hard asf. But like you said, it makes you stronger. Like people say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I've learnt a lot in my life from a incredibly young age. But I'm grateful for it because now I'm stronger than most adults, and I'm a teenager. People my age are making huge mistakes that shape the rest of their lives, while I see the difference between right and wrong, clearly. It's because I've learnt to do so. And after all that, I still get to teach others lessons about life, and guide them in some way I can. So they don't go on, to make the same mistakes as I did.
This is such a beautiful version of the song. To some reason I'm so obsessed with it when I play it on the violin. You're also a really good singer! This is so beautiful, and in my opinion the way viva la vida is supposed to be. It's such a great cover of the song !!1!!!1 overall, 1000000/10
The original had a very nostalgic feel to it while this has a more sad song vibe to it. I kinda like the original more cause of the nostalgic chords that carried it through. But i like this one as well cause it's something i can just play and vibe with

I honestly thought Viva La Vida was already a pretty sad song to begin with but you have proven me wrong sir, it can get so.. SO much sadder, good work
I find that this song is very symbolic because it’s obviously about the King of France but for me it also meant how someone who had it all or at least could, suddenly loses everything that he had. Everyone is surprised of what he’d become. How was it possible for someone who had it all could be like this now… It could be associated with any situation, like moving to another country or place where you had everything, everyone knew you but now you have to start again without having any friends. Always appreciate all the moments you are living because soon they will disappear and another moment will come.
I love the original but your version just lights up the lyrics and helps vividly picture the scene of loneliness, decline, the end of a king. It’s like ive waited for your version all this time but didn’t know it.
Omg thank you for making this version, I have been looking endlessly for a slow more emotional version. if you listen to the lyrics, it's such a sad song, but it's upbeat. This version is much more fitting to the meaning I think.
Holy wowza, how does this feel like it changes the song's meaning? It's as if someone really lost it all, and now they're left with nothing but themselves and the repercussions of their actions. Love this cover!

This is my mom’s favorite song and it took slowing it down and having the lyrics to realize what I thought were the words were actually very wrong. You did a beautiful job you are very talented
This is my favorite song, and the only complaint I had is I wish it was just a TINY bit slower so other people could understand the story the lyrics told. While the violin in the original is essential to the song (and obviously you can’t do everything) getting a collab where the violin is introduced at the same cadence would be absolutely incredible.
I like how he is not trying to replicate original Artist and actually using his own original voice. Whether in a pro or a noob it always sound good if the person isn't doing it for Fame but actually being themselves. Thanks for giving out these positive vibes!

Great work!
Perfect description sounds like that to me aswell
That’s because it’s in major, so it’s complicated to really make it sound sad
The final stage of grief is acceptance. I think that is what this version of the song elicits.
@@_Twisty Needs to be in A minor
It sounds more powerful than sad
Huh, this is interesting cause Viva La Vida always sounded like a sad song to me. Like, I suppose it didn’t have an overly obvious sad tune to it, but when you pay attention to the lyrics, it’s clearly not a happy song or story.
Wonderful cover! I really like your take on it!
It’s because it’s taken from the lost last speech of the king of France before his execution during the French Revolution, he tried to give a speech but the crowd booed and told them to get on with it, so they guillotined him before he could truly give his last speech
@@Faithfulfilled1That would explain the line that the Revolutionaries want his head.
ACTUALLY CRYING. this song has a special place in my life. you’ve made it even more special❤
same here this song just hits different
It has a very special place in my heart too, I always cry but still love it.
This popped up in my recommended and i'm not complaining, your voice is something special. Puts a smile on my face. Keep up the amazing work, you're amazing!

I have always loved the melancholy of this song and this cover captures it really beautifully.
I honestly wish this was on spotify! The song has always had more of a sad feel for me, and this just feels right.
it is, i found it ! it is lliterally called "if viva la vida was sad" by kobo official !
can just change to youtube music :))
@@pauline1723 I literally just found it, i didn't even know it was on spotify it is so beautiful.

viva la vida’s lyrics are so beautifully written i love the song
I've noticed as a musician that a lot of people when they "transform" songs that they do it extremely simply, to make it lofi you add a filter and a lot of reverb and it's done. I went into this expecting to hear the crackling sound filter and too much compression, but I was pleasantly surprised, good job :D
I’m curious how do you tell if there’s too much compression when listening to a piece of music?
@@itsarali I dunno about compression, but if a song's been stretched (slowed), it sounds staticky and choppy.
how about Karu's Viva La Vida version?
going back here coz' this is the closest vibe of the Pachinko S2 trailer's OST by Rose'

i think pachinko vers inspired by this cover

without fail at 0:27 seconds every single time i hear this part of the song my brain automatically supplies “it was the creepers and the skeletons, blew down the doors and let me in” and i am so sorry
Yes the real version lol
This randomly popped up on my recommended, I couldn’t even recall the song but i just felt like i needed to watch it. This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard, thank you for making this.
Always found the tune of the song very energetic, but even though this is sad, it brings a COMPLETELY new vibe that rocks. I played it on repeat at least 10 times in a row. Great voice.
Never realized how biblical this song was and how it’s a metaphor for their own spiritual warfare. Incredible work
Pillars of salt and pillars of sand. Coldplay really used to have lyrical prowess
ur just chatting dude.its not biblical at all, neither is coldplay.
@@tysonallen1690 why are you so mad lol , he literally explain in his interview 🤡
it's about King Louis XVI and his speech that was cut off that he was about to say before he got executed by the drums.
@@lemonl0rd173 Perhaps it’s meant to be his final speech as other comments state, but everything in the speech is related to the feelings he would have in his final moments, and most of the wordplay you’ll read in scripture. Matthew 7: 24-27 is a good example used in the song
you absolutely nailed how i’ve always imagined the vibes of this song! incredible talent man!
Ever since the song came out many years ago, I somehow felt melancholic whenever I hear it. Thank you for getting it there.
Thank you. This really means a lot to me since it’s been quite tough these days. And your voice is full of emotions which kinda heal the wounds in my heart. Sincerely love it, thanks.
Geez, this is amazing, and I love the soft beat that kicked in so much. Also, amazing voice!! Viva la Vida has definitely always been my favorite song by them, so its really nice to hear such an amazing and sweet cover of it
I love this version!!! You’re voice is so expressive and so good for this song! Thank you so much for doing this! It sounds awesome!
this is how i always felt the song. the lyrics are so bittersweet and full of regret... then hearing it in the mincraft cover just pushed that idea forward.. thanks for bringing the idea to life
This song really echoes on my pretty short 16 years of living in this floating ball of rock.
Wishing you the Best of luck💛💛
Keep chasing your dreams and Never Give up✌️
I'd like to turn my life around too, it would happen some day eventually, there's no way we could continue living like this, but still somehow that day feels far. Ahem. Let's go! We can do it!
idk what to say man, if i were to say smth id tell you to listen to this song ig...
good luck with life, you deserve a good one
Relate to this. I'm also sixteen and struggling academically. Hope things are looking up for you and you succeed in everything that matters to you.
Keep going. Jesus loves you.
How’d you transform an already song into a sadder version?! Such a good job! I feel like this better suits the original’s lyrics
Basically u need two tools the key of the song and the circle of fifths. Every song (or part of a song in some cases) is written in a key, which could be major (happy tone) or minor (sad tone). Every key has a set of notes and a set of chords u can use to compose your song. The "circle of fifths" is a scheme that can be used to link a major key to its relative minor (e.g. if a song is in C major to make it sad u have to change alla C chords in Am chords, all E notes in Eb notes, all A notes in Ab notes and so on)
But IMO the original is better, it has more of that nostalgia feeling and that feeling of motivation
very nice use of typoglycemia there, brain autocorrecting "already song" into "already sad song"
@@PIuto_Is_Not_A_Planet thats not what typoglycemia is
@@kenziecortez2341Well, that makes sense since this one is meant to be sadder... Like, not really motivating
Man your voice fits this sad version perfectly, I absolutely LOVE this!
As soon as it finished I replayed and repeated another 10 times. WOW! Your voice is absolutely beautiful. So calming. You made this song 10x sadder, I love it 🥰
this is a good example of life honestly. u can be happy that it happened or sad that its gone
Well said, mate. Well said.
가끔은 이런 느낌을 원할때가 있었는데 이런느낌 딱 좋은것같네요 뭔가 점점 저물어가는 노을앞에서 지금까지의 삶을 돌아보며 잔잔하게 부르는 노래같아요

But i like this one as well cause it's something i can just play and vibe with
I always thought this song was sad but it gives me Villian Vibes so i don't mind!
But gosh your voice is absolutely beautiful! Like i am crying with how gorgeous is! You sooth my soul and I needed this.
Thank you. Thank you so much

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own
I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listened as the crowd would sing
Now the old king is dead!
Long live the king!
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you'd gone, there was never
Never an honest word
That was when I ruled the world
It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh, who would ever want to be king?
I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Never an honest word

I honestly thought Viva La Vida was already a pretty sad song to begin with but you have proven me wrong sir, it can get so.. SO much sadder, good work
God i wish I could sing like you. You absolutely smashed this cover!
Love this cover!
this song was played at my nanas funeral, it was her favorite, the connection i have to this song compares to no other. thank you for giving it a different volume. Amazing voice also!
Amazing. I can't recall the last time I just sat down and stopped whatever it is I was doing to listen to a song and fully absorb it.

This is my mom’s favorite song and it took slowing it down and having the lyrics to realize what I thought were the words were actually very wrong. You did a beautiful job you are very talented
My god Henry, just totally recreated this song for me. You are insanely talented. This is my favourite track on youtube so far this year. Killed it
This is my favorite song, and the only complaint I had is I wish it was just a TINY bit slower so other people could understand the story the lyrics told.
