For anyone wondering what bolt you need - an M8 nut and bolt is what you need.
Fixed mine for less than £1

Thank you so much! Solved the problem. I first tried with zip ties but no result. Now I only need to take care of my broken back window and the e46 is ready for summer

I'm sure there was a reason for the bolt install and pardon my ignorance but was it just to keep the plastic cover on ??

No use the bolt to adjust the pressure on the gear inside to stop the slipping then the top will go up!!!

Use test light see if u get power at the motor.

I don't get any power to the motor? Would you suggest a possible relay in the engine bay or the actual switch to drop the top?

Dear Sir, please can you confirm that the flap motor is primarily for the locking mechanism of the front of your soft top.
Because I don’t want to touch the motor if I don’t need to, the latches open on my roof, but the roof at present doesn’t open right back into the trunk area.
We have a saying here in the uk, Don’t fix it if it ain’t broken 😂
Can you maybe advise me Sir, mechanics in uk are charlatans and happy to take lots of money for a simple job that I can most probably do myself once I know which components are compliant with the roof system.
    Kind regards
    Nick in the United Kingdom
Ps don’t come here for holiday the weather is terrible like Seattle 8 months of the year 😂

Maybe to start with use a test light see if you get power to the motor. The repair in the video is for a clicking flap motor. It may be u have a broke wire where the top bends in the middle? That happens often too?

You fixed a flap motor... .... but you can't remember what size drill bit ??? ... How did you teach yourself how to fix a flap motor if you can't remember the size of the drill bit ??

@@JL.FortneyProductions Well I should hope not. You made the video a long time ago. But you should be able to remember the drill size which was used around the time you made the video. HELLLOOOO

Just use a size bit that works with the size bolt you are using it's that easy!!!
