Massimo Tonson Latour has studied formally the electric guitar with several renowned Melbourne Guitar Teachers and Jazz Harmony with most prominent Composer, Arranger & Pianist, Mr. Frank Strangio, a graduate of Berklee University School of Music.
He also formally studied the Classical guitar with renowned Melbourne teacher Susan Ellis and the AMEB or (Australian Music Examination Board) to grade 9 and Classical Harmony to grade 6. He has performed professionally for many years but he became deaf to the left ear in 2009 due to Meniere's Disease and in 2015 was also diagnosed profoundly deaf to the right ear due to bilateral Meniere's disease. In April 2016 he received a left ear cochlear implant and was told 3 months later he had reached the criteria for a second implant to the right ear. However, it was medically postponed as he was and still is suffering with Meniere's Disease and did lose the balance mechanism on his left ear, that had to be destroyed in 2009, in order to stop the vertigo and sickness associated with the disease. Due to the very small amount of hearing in his right ear, he was advised and given a hearing aid to help him with the Bimodal Hearing Process. The hearing aid on its own would be of little or no use therefore, the foundation of his hearing is the Cochlear Implant to the left ear. Although he rehabilitated extremely fast and well with his speech and overall hearing, in July 2016 he was totally unable to pitch any note correctly as everything sounded distorted and without recognition: he was consequently told that unfortunately this was due to the limits of his hearing condition, that offered little or no hope of recovering from it. He did not give up and was able to return to the music and his guitar playing by writing his own music rehabilitation program called the "PMAD Program" or Playing Music After Deafness, written after very long research that includes technical exercises, the necessary instruments and gear, theory of modern harmony and a study of how to produce proper MP4 Files. The PMAD Program is now available to other musicians that have lost their hearing and use similar assistive hearing devices. Hopefully, they can also return to their music by embracing the PMAD Program and continue their musical journey, by accepting some of the limits that come with their deafness, without giving up to the believe that music for a musician is for life. Before purchasing the PMAD Program, it is strongly advisable to watch in full the extensive 5 parts "Video Presentations" about the various parts of the program,, that is designed to help any prospective candidates, in making a proper decision and commitment to the study, by drawing individual comparisons, visualising its potential and what the PMAD Program can do for them.
Massimo wishes everyone a "Happy Musical Journey"
