I plant right in the fall time and it comes up nice and green and Deer do you like it it comes up next spring stays green all winter comes up next spring and of course it gets really tall but you can actually just keep cutting it or let it go to seed it’ll restart
Yeah most peoples plots have their fair share of weeds in them. Some of those are very beneficial so I’m not sure we should even worry about most of the broadleaf weeds.
Good morning....did you make a mistake on the seed rate example you posted? 75 x .833 = 62.475 not in the 90’s....right? Am I doing something wrong here?
Informed Outdoors Dude we’re all in this together… I just want to get as good as I can get a planting my food plot so I really appreciate the information! Keep them coming
They will but it’s at the bottom of the list of their preferred browse. Rye grass is usually added (heavily) to big name seed mixes so you get something green growing fast and you think it’s a good product. I’d go with rye grain of rye grass. It’ll do in a pinch but avoid it if you can.
Rye Grass is almost worse than weeds. It'll choke out the actual food you're planting and it hurts the pH in your soil also. If you can, get all your stuff from your co-op/feed store. They will explain each seed to you, and you're not getting any useless filler stuff. Plus, you're helping a small business and keeping your money in your community.
Good information thank you very much. I’ll be trying your tips out this weekend.
Good luck!

I did make a mistake in the text. It should be 75 lbs/acre divided by .833. Thanks for catching that!
