I have a yellow watchman goby in my tank, he's paired with a Randall's pistol shrimp. I love watching him guard the hole, keeping my 2 clownfish, and pajama cardinals away, while the pistol shrimp keeps the entrance clear. Very entertaining to watch for sure.

Does ur fish hide alot? I love the grumpyface and bright yellow! Just dont want a hider, have no plans for a pistol so maybe that will keep him out more where I can see him. Would be great if he would get leftover food as well!

You got the #1 right on. Mine will always try to steal the home of my jawfish. It is funny to see the interaction between the two. (Putting sand in each others holes) He will also carry and spit out any hermet crabs that end up near him. Great little fish with lots of personality.

I love my green clown goby. I haven't caught him picking at the sps yet but I'm sure it will happen someday. I'd like to add you are supposed to have some established sps for him to hide in. He kinda just perches on my sticks or rocks all day and is super chill.

I to had a gobie paired with a pistol. Thought both we're gone because we never saw them once in the tank. Years later when moving to a larger tank we found the pistol and got it another gobie for about 6 months before that one jumped. Haven't seen pistol since but saw him daily with the gobie. Need to get another. Thanks for reminding me

I've had 2 Hector's gobies in my Aquarium for about 2 months now, they occasionally will eat live brine shrimp other times totally ignore them. They mostly pick around in the sand & rocks, I do have colonies of mysid shrimp living in my tank as well as micro & macro copepods I don't know for certain if they're feeding on them but their bellies are full and they appear healthy.

I don't think so! I have heard noises in the tank but I thought that maybe it was water sounds from my return pump. When I put the pistol shrimp and goby in, they both hid in different spots. I think that they found each other now because I have seen both of them hiding in the same hole. So far I have 3 trochus snails, 2 blue legged hermit crabs (one ditched his shell and hid under the rocks). I haven't seen him since. and ywg/tiger pistol shrimp pair. I can't wait to add more soon. The guy at my LFS said I could start adding fish. My tank has been running for almost 2 months. I've got to remember to take it slow though.

My understanding is that gobies do better with more sand or they run out of nutrients, meaning you either have to feed them and compromise water quality, or they essentially starve to death and don't have long life spans.

I'm surprised more people don't recommend the Citron clown goby over the green clown. I got one from Petco, never knew Petco have saltwater fish until I was in there one day, and they had one listed as a yellow clown goby but he has he's beautiful bright shiny blue lightning strikes that go across his eyes and body and they're even colored on the eyeball so there's no break in the line. When I was researching it I didn't see this coloration on the yellow clown goby and then I discovered he's a Citron. Great personality, and beautiful. I love him
