  • Hey guys! I go over some FAQs about WCU! I have attached the links below on how to obtain more information from WCU!
    Information Sessions: westcoastuniversity.edu/admis...
    Scholarships/Grants: westcoastuniversity.smartcata...
    Undergraduate Requirements: westcoastuniversity.edu/admis...
    Transfer Equivalency System: westcoastuniversity.edu/stude...
    First and foremost, what I say and what my views are, are in no way related to the views of West Coast University. I am just sharing my journey as a West Coast University student and what to expect as a nursing student. What I share and talk about has occurred during my term and you should not rely on my schedule to plan your own schedule (it may be very similar).
    With all that being said, I currently attend West Coast University and am in the Accelerated Bachelor’s of Nursing Program. My expected graduation date is January 2021, which has been extended to April 2021 due to my attendance to the Oxford Honors Program in Summer 2020 (which I would love to vlog about!).
    I am a full time nursing student who works per diem as a patient care assistant and loves to go to the gym and lift! I try my best to balance everything out, but find myself struggling with this. I share my journey as a nursing student mostly on instagram @kriziaann__

    Advice to those thinking about nursing. Try to get the best grades in your pre-requisites at a CC and apply to a public university or CC. The clinical experience is unmatched and it's affordable or free. Debt of $140 K + interest is crushing.

    WCU has been very understanding. That preliminary date is important to have all your paperwork cleared but if you don’t they will work with you . The goal is to have you cleared before clinical otherwise you can’t start. I had to repeat a titer therefore I was considered not compliant. My clinical advisor worked with me and I was accommodated. :)

    Nowadays I understand why people would go to private schools for nursing. I’m in California, it’s extremely impacted and competitive, especially for RN. I went to a community college, completed the RN prerequisites with a 3.9 GPA and 89.3 on the TEAS, and still didn’t get accepted into all 5 RN programs I applied to. It’s frustrating. The schools I applied to actually don’t have waitlists 🤷🏼‍♀️, we’d just have to reapply in the next cycle. Now I’m a CNA and in LVN school, then I’ll try again for RN. Some schools give bonus points for experience, which I didn’t have at the time

    yeah I'm thinking the private school route more because programs both bsn and adn are incredibly compacted here in CA and I am not a perfect student. I can't compete and idk if I am lucky enough to get in through random lottery. I was looking into CNI college since they have a huge amount of resources it's like 138K which is what sucks but they have the resources and connections with hospitals to get you a job after passing the NCLEX. Paying back the loans within a good a amount of time just requires living below your means for a year or so, while working as an RN (since I am lucky to live with my parents). But still I am figuring out what to do, I'm only 25 but I already have a B.A. (which I kind of regret) and I just want to go to nursing school already I am not getting any younger lol.

    • @Buziness711
      @Buziness711 11 місяців тому

      It’s clearly taking advantage. I know students who went this route and are in 100 k debt without a degree. Yep! You will still be in debt for classes you have taken through them AND you likely can’t transfer those classes ANYWHERE! DEFINITELY can’t transfer to a university. ALSO , some Texas community college are no longer accepting students who already attempted at these expensive schools . People go to school for years , from one to the other and owe all this money with a trail of none transferable class credits, then realize they should have gone to a community college . So if you go this route you better be ready for do or die because you are screwed in these private schools if you don’t DO it! At least if I failed a class once I had a chance to take it again for 300. dollars.
      I know it’s hard to get in sometimes but over 100k !?! Nope! I’d rather buy some land with THAT !

    Hi Krizia,
    I checked with the school admission office and they said there is no ABSN program. Do you think they just recently take the program off?

    • @nurse_krizia
      @nurse_krizia  3 роки тому +2

      Hey! Technically it isn’t an ABSN program like others that take 12 months. But I still consider it accelerated due to each term being 10 weeks. This was my second BSN and this took me a little over 2 years to complete!

    So i know a lot of people talk crap about this school because of the price and i get that it is stupid expensive. What do you guys think about the level of education you get here though? I have the full GI bill so I don’t have to worry about the money and i want to finish school as fast as possible. I also want to make sure I’ll be properly trained as a nurse.

    • @nurse_krizia
      @nurse_krizia  3 роки тому +6

      Yes! A lot of other schools say exactly this and that we’re just ‘handed’ a diploma. The curriculum itself is very difficult, 10 weeks per term, no break, etc. I feel that the level of education I received depends on you as a student. I took full advantage of every opportunity that I got during clinicals. All my clinical professors have been amazing, all of them pushed me to take on the role as a real nurse while being a student. Like giving report, knowing all 4 of my patients when I’m on the floor, constantly testing my knowledge. I’m regards to classes, I learned a lot from professors. Some were mediocre and would just teach powerpoints/read off. But I would make sure to read the textbook, go to office hours, review concepts on my own. I went to UCI, and the level of education was about the same. Mostly self taught and self motivated tbh. But WCU prepared me very well for the NCLEX and helped me develop professionalism and good habits that transfer over as a nurse. (Getting to clinicals on time, always showing up to class, great communication with profressors etc.

    • @nurse_krizia

      WCU’s current NCLEX pass rate is very high, I’d say at least 98%

    • @victorperalta66
      @victorperalta66 3 роки тому

      @@juvynezzandrews1044 so i’ve been trying to figure that out. From what I’ve seen each semester at west coast is 17k. If you go on the VA website you can use a gi bill calculator and it says at west coast we would get 24k a year plus 3k a month for bah and 1k for books. So that would not cover total costs unless you use your bah money as well. I also know that west coast has the yellow ribbon program so if you apply for that and it is accepted full tuition should be covered.

    Def not worth it! To each their own tho. It’s like $145,000k. Just go to a CC and pay $5-7k in California, and transfer to a Cal State. It’s like $5k/semester
    $5k/4 sem = $20k for your BSN
    Yes it will require a lot more time, but you won’t be in debt and also your credits will be accepted by Cal States and UC, if you ever decide to go back to school for something else. Smh.

      @chinita7044 You do know CC in california only accepts applicants every 6 months and some only once a year. They also receive around 2 thousands applications for only 35 seats. Not only that but it's a competitive field. Obviously people would rather go this route but some just don't get so lucky to get randomly selected or accepted. Just because you say another route doesnt mean its possible for everyone else. Jesus smh
