Salut Olivier :) en tant que français, un grand bravo pour cette OST qui accompagne chacun de mes pas de traceur à merveille. Imagine being in a world where nearly all of civilization has died out and turned into zombies, but you’re still just carelessly speeding across rooftops and climbing buildings while having the time of your life. It takes a lot of humility and character to still have hope in a situation like that. This is the idea that this track represents to me.
The way the music is set so if you jump in fades out till you hit the ground and it muffled inside and becoming normal outside (the jumping includes the grapple hook grabbing something) made it amazing climbing the tower
This is supposed to be Aiden’s final climb in DL2, like with Kyle climbing Rais’s tower in DL1. The respective themes in each instance perfectly reflect how Kyle and Aiden see their own end goals. Kyle’s is one of desperation and urgency, hence the gritty electronic music as you dodge Rais’ obstacles. But, in Aiden’s case, the VNC Tower represents more than just itself as an obstacle in his way. In a sense, climbing the tower is him overcoming his fears and proving himself, despite the doubts of others. The music here sounds very triumphant and encouraging to reflect that. Even the name adds onto it more, as only Aiden can empower himself in order to face his fears.
The soundtrack in DL2 is great but nothing groundbreaking. Throughout the game, I felt like the music was always "good enough" but it never impressed me. Then Frank started talking about how he thinks that it was impossible to climb the VNC tower but I was already swinging my way to the top, beyond all odds, of my own volition. This track started to pick up and the rising crescendo kept creeping up and up as I swung, climbed and jumped my way up obstacle after obstacle like there was nothing in the world that could stop me. I thought, "the music sure is kicking in right now" - goosebumps all over my body. Then Aiden got the call from Frank where he actually started to believe him, that he could make it. That in a world that had lost all hope(from Frank's perspective), there was still a chance to save it all. In THAT moment, I realized. "This is it. This is the best track in the game. This is the moment I become the hero." Little did I know at the time that the soundtrack was called "empowering yourself". Exquisite.
What I really love in this game is how music reacts to your actions. When you just started jumping from rooftop to another rooftop the music is basically calm or even barely noticeable, but then you getting better and better at parkouring and it makes the music slowly but surely progressively getting more and more pumped by adding more instruments and sounds; it makes you want to be better so you can get the better version of that music

This plays at the climax of probably the best mission I've encountered in an open-world game in the last ten years. Much of Dying Light 2 is underwhelming, but the VNC tower mission is an exception and the synergy between mission and music in the triumphant conclusion is a major part of its power.
This song doesn’t just have meaning behind what you’re doing but who came here before you, you’re not just climbing a tower you’re doing something nightrunners, people Kyle Craine trusted with his life, couldn’t do. That is the true meaning behind this climb and that’s why you feel a sense of adrenaline once it comes on because you’re doing something the people of Harran would never had been able to do which speaks numbers because that means Aiden is more experienced then Kyle at surviving!
That was pretty obvious. Crane was a specialist with tons of help from the GRE and didn't last more than a year. Aiden is a superhumanly enhanced guy who's traveled over 100km across zombie ridden Europe without even getting bit until he dropped his caution in favor of the search for his sister. That's not mentioning his super mode. Once he goes apeshit he thwacks Volatiles like nothing.
@@TheStraightestWhitest crane didn’t die because he could not survive lmao. He either died cause he was forced to drink a liquid that turned him or it was his own decision. Crane would definitely still be alive to this day if he never met the mother. He was the legend of harran.
Also Crane never knew any nightrunners lmao. What are you talking about? There is no proof at all here that crane could not climb the same tower. So that does not mean Aiden can survive better than crane.
@@truecreation8803 Crane got bit before even properly standing on his own two feet within Harran. If not for the GRE carrying him, he'd have literally died within hours of landing. Hell not even. He'd have gotten ripped to shreds by puny Virals if not for Jade and Amir. Aiden only needs saving when he does stupid shit that he knows is stupid but takes the risk anyway because he wants to find his sister. And even then. He usually manages to save himself anyway. I think the only exception was when he got attacked by that Volatile. Aiden is better. Dude was dropped into the zombie apocalypse as a child and went without even getting bit for 15 years. Just look at what he does to Volatiles in his ultra mode.
The emotional connection I have with this song is so powerful All my life I had always been an outsider looking into another persons world, with no faith held in me to do the right thing when needed or to undergo any challenges when asked. As time progressed I got stronger and stronger and undertook a challenge so many people doubted me in, David Goggins 4x4x48. When I’d gotten to the last run out of a 48 mile stretch I’d felt exhausted, tired, destroyed, but my hope to be able to keep going one more mile still remained. As I approached the last quarter mile this song kicked on I felt a sense of empowerment in my body and sprinted the last portion and collapsed exhausted as the song cut out at the end. The emotional connection I have with the story of this game and that OST is incredible and I’m so glad I got to experience such an inspiring moment.
Having this play at the end of the VNC tower mission felt like amazing buildup. Imagine the dread of having to tread through arguably one of the most dangerous dark zones in Villedor. You’ve heard the stories Frank had told you and you keep thinking that it’ll be impossible to finish. The volatiles, the virals, the bombers, just the sheer amount of infected could deter you from progressing any further. And then, by some miracle, you did it. You go through the hard parts. And then the song starts playing and it’s like you’re a trailblazer or a pathfinder. YOU are Villedor’s last hope. You are humanity’s last hope. The dread turns to triumph and, for the first time in years, people have hope. It was all because of you
Its even better when your running on tooftops, you do that one jump and it does that slow down zoom in thing. To add suspence, and then just LAUNCHES when you successfully land.
Would be appreciated to name the composer. Aka me :) merci for liking the music!

This plays at the climax of probably the best mission I've encountered in an open-world game in the last ten years. Much of Dying Light 2 is underwhelming, but the VNC tower mission is an exception and the synergy between mission and music in the triumphant conclusion is a major part of its power.
Best part of Dying light 2 this song and VNC tower!!!!
@@TheStraightestWhitest Yup, not to mention that Crane was already an adult before the outbreak. Aiden was born into it.
I love this song so muchhhh 🤩
The emotional connection I have with this song is so powerful
All my life I had always been an outsider looking into another persons world, with no faith held in me to do the right thing when needed or to undergo any challenges when asked.
Main character music for real
This music is like crack, I can’t get enough
Damn, thanks to the composer for such a soundtrack, really driving, pumping and beautiful. Thank you so much for your love of music🙏❤🔥😁
VNC tower was such a cool area to mess around in and the climbing segment was awesome with this baller music
It was all because of you
The music muting itself when you went inside to loot/fight in the hallways was a nice touch during the radio tower part
This track is the perfect crossover between Adrenaline from Max Richter and Clubbed to Death from Rob Dougan
Climbing on VNC tower with this song in backround made me feel like i am climbing there by myself
Absolutely epic song . And part of the game climbing that huge tower
1:06 this is our part
@1:07 always gets me hype. That pause always plays as I'm doing something epic. Amazing music for this game.
Its even better when your running on tooftops, you do that one jump and it does that slow down zoom in thing. To add suspence, and then just LAUNCHES when you successfully land.
Or break your neck. (My experience)
The VNC tower climb is my favorite mission in the entire game
Me carrying the heavy shopping bags on the way home.
One of the most hyped soundtracks of all time you could fly too!
