Rothery at his absolute best, not one but two epic solos from this stand out track. Hope you enjoy this version, any questions, please leave a comment.
Thank you! The EMG’s really help with getting that defined Rothery lead tone. All the best with learning the solo, great fun to play although deceptively tricky in some parts!
@@Jameslive1 I'm a big fan of Rothery since the 80s. I think his best solo is CHELSEA MONDAY.. Also like very much Incubus and Grendel solos.. And Sugar Mice too..
That bit at 2.56 in the vid, S Rothery also uses his thumb on the open low E string twice every time he runs up the four notes. ua-cam.com/video/k_9P2kPv_-Q/v-deo.html
I mute the G and high E with my thumb and index finger to achieve a clean hammer on and hammer off run. Steve does the same from the look of the vid (see the position of his pick hand once he comes out of the run). I use the heel of my picking hand to mute the D, A and low E. basically you want to try and mute everything except the B string!
Thanks very much and really glad you enjoyed it! If you look at my reply to one of the comments on tone below I set out the gear used. It’s then a lot of endless tweaking and a bit of trial and error until the tone sounds as close as you think it should sound. Plugins do help to get a good sound fairly easily without having to mic up amps etc.
Thank you! For the lead parts I used a JC 120 amp sim (Amplitube - Dimebag model) with a DS1 pedal sim, for reverbs, delay and modulation I ran the Archetype Plini VST, for cleans I used the Archetype Cory Wong VST.
@@Jameslive1 Thanks!, will look into some plugins like this. Ive been trying to get a decent tone patch in my boss katana mk2 for Rothery type tones, but cant seem to make them sound decent enough and no one else has made any sadly!

Hi mate nice play. Can you send me this backing track
Cheers! This is not a backing track, I was playing over the original fairly loudly with some eq adjustments to reduce Steve’s guitar in the mix.
De los mejores solos de la era Hogarth..
También me gusta el de Easter..
Y el de Seasons End..
Agreed, all great solos - looking at covering Seasons End soon.

Echoing other comments here ,excellent job! How do you get that tone? I am a beginner at guitar and your playing inspires me.
