Go to my "about that price" section (8:17) and you can see my side by side with a Tink5x and the Stellar HDMI mod. Results are pretty comparable with the right color space on the XBHD. 3:51 shows a comparison of Full vs Limited. Regardless, still not worth picking up from the price alone outside of event organizers imo.
At that price point there's just no excuse for not being perfect. Shouldn't have to be messing with brightness just to more or less compensate. Good job reviewing this.
Caps, different xbox consoles or even mismatch in color range might be a factor but I think not with this product IMO. MVG tested with the original XBOX HD pack as Nacho tested with Chimeric System , different consoles and they were no color range/space issues (crushed black color) compared to the adapter. Just a side note.
I also tested with the original Microsoft Component Cables and the internal HDMI mod as shown in the video and don't have similar results to MVG. I can only showcase my experience. Regardless, price still eliminates this from any consideration even if it was perfect.
That's my Stellar HDMI mod. I have it set to RGB output instead of YPbPr. Perhaps it crushes black levels but I prefer the look. To each their own. Either way it is a better spend of $160 vs the EON.
Wow you can see immediately in your intro footage with Halo how dark it is. Unbelievable for that price. Although, I had no faith in this product from the start b/c I'm still in disbelief how bad their N64 product was when several reviewers disassembled it and showed that terrible quality with some connections not even being soldered for audio. This product idea is great, but potentially double the cost it would need to be for an attractive option even if the video was great.
Perhaps, but as my later comparison shows, it isn't much different than the picture I get from official component cables and the internal HDMI mod so 🤷🏻♂️ Price immediately eliminates it from consideration regardless.
As I've said in other reviews. This unit should be fitted in the same style as a PS2 network adapter so as to not add a a lot of depth to the Xbox. It's a simple and obvious idea.
MVG say bad so must be bad idk, you don't seem to have the issues he had so I'm really curios what's actually going on. I hate when a popular social media personalty says one thing and then suddenly people go on the attack if someone else has different results. Could it be that some units were defective? hmmmm 🤔
$200!? I’ll stick to making my Xbox games HD by clicking the 5x button on the emulator!
That's a fantastic option! 😂
Fact lol 🤣
Thanks for the review!
Thanks for watching X!
The image is a lot darker compared to other HDMI solutions. Did you experience any crushed blacks as that's what I've been seeing in other reviews.

I didn't mess with any brightness settings, it's just having the proper range settings on your display. But essentially, ABSOLUTELY!!

@@ArchadesGames Can I ask you what is the color range (full or limited) you have set on your TV/monitor?
Full. At 3:51 you can see the difference in brightness between the two for the EON.
At 10:15 Splinter Cell looks too dark on both. This is not how it looks with my RetroTink setup. Weird..

Question: Are there any cheaper options that are also good?
Sooo many :) I recommend the Electron Shepard adapter personally.

Did you by any chance mix up NFS Underground footage?
No
Nice review 👍
Thanks for watching!
Morning!

An interesting idea for sure!
Absolutely ridiculous pricing. Even if it was perfect which it is not its still overpriced.
Definitely
Even if it didn't make the image quality unnaturally dark, it wouldn't be worth the price.
Which is why I have a 3 minute section of the video dedicated to the price and alternative options 😄

Could be so many things. Regardless there are other flaws like lack of digital audio on my 1.0's and above all the price.
The form factor for this overpriced product looks good to make a OG Xbox mini. Maybe the Raspberry Pi 5 or above will be powerful enough for XEMU.
