Because Heather was competing with another villain who was worse than her, Alejandro, so she became the heroine of that season. Riya was competing with another character who wasn't that bad.
The funniest thing about the finale is that someone made a shitpost about this exact plot happening after Grett was eliminated and nobody believed it until the finale, not even the original shitposter

I didn’t really care much for the final 2 but I get why they allowed Riya to win. Rosa told her she’d be alone and that came true. I don’t really feel any remorse for her because she did so many horrible things not to mention attempted murder so many times. She won the money but lost everything else. I’m ready to see how the spinoffs and season 4 goes.
I think this is a retcon/ cover up cause the editing makes it clear only Yul got 100k. Ellie Gabby and Alec all forfeited and were standing far away from Riya and Yul when the money was presented. Theyre definitely covering base lol

hell, even Yul was open to change before he found the idol in episode 19. even if it was only because he didn't have anything left to lose, he was going to apologize to Grett.
as someone who's always enjoyed Riya, l'm thrilled she won over Jake but her ending actually brought me to tears even though we all knew it was coming. it's such a shame we won't get a spin-off about Riya instead of TomJake. We could've had a story of her redemption.
They did say they'll do more spin-offs if the TomJake one is successful which it clearly will be and Riya is honestly the prime target for the next spinoffs Since everyone else is kinda too happy at this point by comparison
I’m happy with this ending. I know Jake fans wanted him to win but he literally doesn’t need or want the money. He wanted a family & Tom which he still got even tho he lost. Plus he was never gonna overpower Riya, he couldn’t even beat ally in a fight. Riya worked hard and got her karma. Altho Ellie & gabby should’ve still gotten at least 50k cause they were still working for Riya when Jake got hit with the paintball arrow. Also Tom inviting Miriam to spend time with them? Boy please you think Miriam wants to hear y’all clapping when she’s trying to take her nap? Get outta here😂

I definitely saw this ending coming. And I’m honestly not mad at it. I’m proud of Jake for showing growth and making it far but having Riya win definitely needed to happen cause she may have won money & fame but she definitely lost everything compared to Jake who lost the game but people still loved him in the end. Riya mothered but at what cost. Ally telling Jake & Tom to finish their “yaoi moment later” was sending me cause girl what you know about that😏. I was definitely excited when Tom & Jake kissed cause even tho I was tired of the love story I was still lowkey rooting for those two. They were my original OTP. I was also happy to see everyone doing great after the show. Connor getting married definitely was a shocker. I think at the end Riya is still pursuing acting hence all the awards she’s won they’re just showing that her ending was really sad cause she let fame consume her and now she really is alone. I’ve been a fan of this series since adventure camp (beta) first aired and I’m really going to miss this cast. All of them even the ones I dislike will hold a special place in my heart. This season was definitely a hit and miss... but this was the PERFECT ending for this season to me... Also i predicted this EXACT ending a few episodes ago but i definitely didn't think the writers would have the balls to give us this ending but they actually did !

Im very happy that Riya won but the ENDING is very questionable. I DO HOWEVER HAVE A THEORY, few episodes ago Riya had her letter from her sister Eesha, her sister said when she gets older she would come to Hollywood to do acting as well, since crystal and the rest of the staff mention ANOTHER SEASON why do I have the craziest theory that EESHA is going to be in the next season( or any new season they do in the future) and follow Riya’s footsteps in playing a VILLAIN CHARACTER IN FRONT OF THE CAMERAS👀( Also I HOPE there is some kind of episode in the future where Riya redeems herself😅)
Even though the previous episodes and the choice of characters in the finale were pretty mediocre in my opinion, I think this episode concluded everyone's story very well and they knew how to make us emotional in this episode seeing all the characters we've known since 2022 (or 2021 for those who watched the BETA season) going away to live their lives. In my opinion, this ending for Ellie is good because like at me, but it is also wrong. Ellie participates in the reality show to earn money to pay for college, but since she didn't win the reality show, how did she manage to graduate? There is clearly a big hole in the plot that does not explain how Ellie got the money to go to college since, as explained in season 1, the two jobs she had were not even enough to pay for it. Ellie in episode 19 states that by watching Gabby and Grett play she understood that she cared too much about money and never thought about making friends and enjoying life and in episode 21 she showed that she no longer cared about money by sending her to hell. to Riya. In episode 19 Ellie shows that she has matured, therefore for her the perfect ending would have been to show that although she did not graduate because she did not have the money to do so, she no longer cared because she learned to enjoy life being with friends like Gabby and Grett .

Wow! Just wow! I was not expecting a finale to deliver like this! After the last few episodes, I was ready to die by my sword and give up, but wow this finale was amazing. Although I still hate Jake, it's a relief to see him finally patch things up with Tom. As for Riya, well she had to learn the hard way. Like Rosa said, she may win but she'll be alone. And then seeing the Insta stories at the end and seeing everyone enjoy themselves made me happy but also made me cry and bawl my eyes out (which I'm still doing btw 😭😭😭) because it kinda hit me that this is the last time we'll see most of these characters and it's like the end of an era. What an rollercoaster adventure this has been. So many memories. May S4 be the start of new ones ❤❤❤❤

Wow! Just wow! I was not expecting a finale to deliver like this! After the last few episodes, I was ready to die by my sword and give up, but wow this finale was amazing. Although I still hate Jake, it's a relief to see him finally patch things up with Tom. As for Riya, well she had to learn the hard way. Like Rosa said, she may win but she'll be alone. And then seeing the Insta stories at the end and seeing everyone enjoy themselves made me happy but also made me cry and bawl my eyes out (which I'm still doing btw 😭😭😭) because it kinda hit me that this is the last time we'll see most of these characters and it's like the end of an era. What an rollercoaster adventure this has been. So many memories. May S4 be the start of new ones ❤❤❤❤
