We used the cheapest latex paint we could find. First wet the canvas, then two coats of latex primer before it dries. When that's dry apply the black latex paint. Works great.
if ur ever up this way i have a traditioal sheephaven downings currach.donegal.i used to tar my currachs but found bitumen paint to be less messy but does the same job.i try to keep things trad if i can.....latex?@@Handcraftedtradition

Great video - I am wanting to start building a curragh as well - what did you use to coat the canvas with?
bitumen paint is the best replacement for tar.less messy than tar but with the same qualities.....
