This video is fantastic. I've been using my truck as a camper for over two years now and it leaks all over the place. I had been planning to just seal the inside with caulking and hope for the best. I had no idea you could take those panels right out. I am definitely going to use this as a guide for that. Thanks for this and keep posting!
You are welcome. Thanks for watching. Safe travels.
Same issue on my ARE cap. Glad to see there is hope. Thank you!
TY for the help. Just ordered the tape.
Glad the video helped. Good luck with your project.
Awesome video, just ordered some of that tape and when it gets here I'll be doing it, I wasn't sure how to do it but dam it's easy looking so thanks for the good video
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
Great video, so this butyl tape has stopped all leaks. Guess i should only order this tape instead of ordering a flex seal liquid rubber sealant. Both my side windows on my topper leak.
super useful .. thanks for posting
I am glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
They make both clear and black 100 percent silicone. Seals better than caulk
I have used silicone. Butyl tape better for this application. Thanks for watching.
@@FakeLegGreg sure, I just meant for the window
I need to do all of my truck topper windows and screens.... seem like I missed alot of disassemble and then reassemble parts...or off camera steps... sorry.
Use a Black Sharpie.
To do what?
Foam gasket between bed rails and topper?
I have an ARE topper and it has leaked since I bought the pos...
What kinda window gasket u use?
I need help!!!!!! whats the best possible way to put the side rear window back on? The window at the 10 sec mark of your video. i have this constant push and pull going on while adjusting the seals. I'm also using a bold flathead to get in between to help but its not enough. is there an easier way than just using all my strength to put it back on? It feels like im going to crack the window with all that force. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Trying to figure mine out and I’m stumped. Almost pissed off at it. Mine’s a two part window and half of it slides open. Weather stripping on the sliding end is coming out and I can’t just shove it back in. Got the window out of the camper shell and on the table, but taking the actual window itself apart is where I’m stuck at.
Yep. Those window channel felts. One of my sliding windows is real tight and hard to slide. The other one is easy to slide. Both probably need new felts. I haven't crossed that bridge yet.
flex seal works also
Thanks for the suggestion.
What brand is your top
Did you buy new gaskets? I can't seem to find them anywhere
No, did not buy new gaskets. Only used the tape. Thanks for watching.
Very nice video, question, instead of two sided butyl tape, could you shoot a bead of butyl sealant from tube
Thanks Sammy. I had not thought of using butyl out of tube. I see that it is sold at the big box stores. I guess it would work. It may depend on the viscosity of the sealant, it may be too runny out of a tube. The tape stays where you want it.
If I may ask one more question, thickness and width of tape.
Looks like 1/8 inch thick and 3/4 inch wide. Black Butyl Seal Tape amzn.to/2CkgnS0
How's it holding up?
I dont use it for camping now but it still keeps cargo dry inside. Still not leaking.
"It weighs several hundred pounds..."
REALLY?
Then I must be incredibly strong because I do that by myself.
I weigh 178pounds.
Which brand of sealer do you prefer?
Black Butyl Seal Tape amzn.to/2CkgnS0
@@FakeLegGregwhat was the thickness of the tape? I see .75” / 1” options online
@@superdutyohv3401 I have used both with success. In this case I used the .75". Good luck.
You did not show how you replaced the seals? Why?
The seals around the window panes did not need replacing. The seals around the window unit had dried out and cracked. I applied the tape to seal the window units. Thanks for watching.
