The lady has tremendous projection and is clearly the rising star of the group. From here, they can easily advance on their own material in this musical genre.
Not only did Iearn this song in English, I learned the German text one summer as well. A timeless folk classic.
One of my favorites. Miss them.
Written by Pete Seeger, off Peter, Paul and Mary’s self-titled debut album (1962). Brings me to tears every time I hear this.

@@michaelsolodow1967 Yes, and most of us prefer the actual / original lyrics of PP&M. A "tribute band" doesn't have license to change the song any way they want.
It's distracting and takes away from the purpose of paying that tribute. Just saying....
Never heard this version with husbands...where are Peter seeger's original lyrics. This was one of my father's favorite songsi thought it wss a war time song the soldiers sang my mum didn't like him singing it strange...

The idea of young girls starting out as innocent children, quickly becoming grown women married (with children), and then having their husbands be sent off to fight and die in wartime battle. Then the cycle repeats itself with a new generation of children and their predetermined future, so to speak. A tragic story of the trials and tribulations of humanity, spearheaded by the government and its "priorities".

Mary Travers passed 13 years ago. This was a different woman in this video. None of them were part of the original Peter, Paul, and Mary group.

@@USCG.Brennan - So true - All one has to do is look at them, and then listen to them. They are not in the same league as PP&M.
@@dennishaldiman6087 They're "trying" and mostly doing a good job, but when they change the words to suit or edify themselves, that's a big turn off for me. The group is supposed to be in our area (Western Oregon) in the next week or so and I decided to look them up here. I'm not sure I want to go see them now that I see how they're changing things. Sad, but true.

"Husbands?" The original words were "Young men." Married men had a better chance of not being drafted; but perhaps young people of today do not remember what the draft was and therefore find it easy to change the original words to whatever they want.
Agreed.....My draft lottery number came up at #17 when I had to go in and I was single and still in college. I don't like it when "tribute bands" change the lyrics from the original version. It's not their place to do so.
