I'm amazed at the accuracy of the movie. Well done. The corruption within the legal system is devastating.
They dirty as dirt smdh!
Man, Tim Blake Nelson has Roth Meyer down from the rapid eye blinks to the way his lip is curved. accuracy is almost frightening.
Travel Heavy Bro are you talking about the story or the actor's appearance? i think the script was probably written basd on mr. Stevenson's book "Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption"
You would never understand if you have never been a victim😳
So they believed his testimony sad
I’m so glad this story was produced into the film, Just Mercy. The line that stuck with me most - “The true measure of our character is how we treat the poor, the disfavored, the accused, the incarcerated, and the condemned.”
Just Mercy, the 2019 film, was based on the 2014 #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER by Bryan Stevenson. A memoir by American attorney Bryan Stevenson that documents his career defending the disadvantaged.

But hears the thing,it's been white guys doing the same way for the last 30years,it's just people of color been getting acused, and set up for ever, with cameras whites can see it now
@@Overtimewayne Yeah...I have to agree with you... it's been going on longer than that and it appears that having cameras work but not all the time. Now it's up to a jury to decide what they see is true or not. Its entire mess but I cant help but to remain hopeful. In the meantime, there still needs to be some change taken place in the justice system
It's really sad that they want the change to happen from injustice of individualis (African Americans) who are being accused. It starts within the system. That's a lot of time that the justice system takes away from innocent people only to compensate them with money... they compensate them with money and the same time, theres no reprimand for the injustice committed
To knowingly ruin a man's life is disgusting. How many times has this happened and we didn't hear about it? That's the scariest thing.
It happens more than we know believe me I've been a victim of a crooked cop
Too many !
It’s even scarier that Bryan Stevenson has released over 150 innocent people from death row. It’s sad and embarrassing that our system can put an innocent person on death row.
A lot! I live in Alabama
Thanks God for video cameras and phone cameras. Because these technologies will at least help gather the facts. It’s the only witness that won’t lie.
It's a shame that there are District Attorneys who care more about a conviction rate, than justice. Misconduct by the prosecutor should be dealt with criminally.
Well they get off on the power to put someone in jail. However, the job is to pursue justice and that entails work so some of them don't care who is convicted. The ignorant public do not care to understand that people are wrongfully convicted till it happens to them.
@@philliesphan312 There seem to be many jurisdictions out there where they have a crime and they need someone to pay for it. They don't care that much who pays as long as someone does. If the person convicted is actually guilty, then hey that's a nice bonus, but they don't lose any sleep over it if the person convicted isn't really guilty.
they get away with it everyday, here in the USA and they *rarely* get charged, let alone, prosecuted//many of them even get to keep their jobs!.. between law 'enforcement' and politics?: anyone who parrots the bu11sh%t that in America, 'no one is above the law,' is either deliberately lying or stupid.
@@gregh7400 and they also don't care about how it means the guilty ones - unless they're in jail for something else later, which is rarely discovered - are still out there, free to roam and commit more crimes.
@@DiandraStarShine You're right. And I'm not talking about having evidence that convicts an innocent person, because that can occasional happen on it's own. I'm talking about misconduct by the police and especially the DA's who refuse to turn over evidence that might show the defendant innocent, which they are required to do. That's the kind of misconduct that needs to lead to disbarment and prosecution.
Everyone involved in the case who knowingly lied to imprison an innocent man, should have been fired and prosecuted. I'd also add that every case they ever worked on should be reviewed
The prosecutor is as dirty as they come...

I just watched the movie " just mercy" and I was literally shook up so deeply inside my heart hurt i cried threw out the whole movie. Our justice system is so set up for complete failure. It's so very traumatic. watching this movie makes me wanna make a difference & to make a change to be wanna be or so I should say to be a better person to know how an innocent person's life is just thrown away. It's all based around politics and set up elections its makes you really think about everything in your life how
It's all been a lie everything they have ever taught us or told us we know the difference of right and wrong I think that is something that we are born with it it's called a conscience I truly believe that at a young age we already know the difference of right and wrong OH HOW WE WALK AROUND WITH OUR EYES WIDE SHUT... I just want to say I was deeply touched by this movie I mean deeply touched I was moved to make a change .... and with that being said may God have grace on the soul for those who have decided whether or not a person should live or die I dont know how you sleep at night but one day as you have judged.... You yourself will be judged....I know that I'm gonna make a difference weather no one sees it or no one knows it. I'll know it... I dont know where to start in the very cruel world... So I'm going to start with myself, I'm going to be a better person starting today... And my deepest sympathy goes out to Herbert and his family the man in the movie who is electrocuted when should have been placed in it psychiatric ward because the system failed him we done that to him in Vietnam in a war we should have never had but that's another story.... this movie has inspired me... FALSELY-N-GRAVED... to the people of our nation & to the people of our country we need to wake the Fu@% -UP... to those of us who can make a change need to make it... Its never too late to do the right thing... make a difference everybody's lives matter... We are all Gods children it's time to come together as one
I cried all through this movie. It put a lot on my mind. I owe it to my ancestors to be the best!

Just make sure you stand up to speak out against injustices for all. People of color, women, and children get harassed and killed based off physical appearance. god bless bryan stevenson too for working nonstop to bring justice to these innocent lives.
This is so hard to watch. People are so evil
There’s so much injustice in this world.
Can’t wait to see the Lord return and make it right.
Amen!
This waiting is Blacc people's problem now. White folks know they can do whatever to us cuz we waiting on the Lord smfh
...Even, so, Come Lord Jesus. Revelations 22:20
@@Ro1Up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@Ro1Up you are so true! I get tired of waiting on some Lord BS that white people invented!
Prayers for healing and peace and justice ...I am so sorry this happened to him...I am glad this aired to the world..such a great interview and heartbreaking that this actually happens all the time...
They framed the man. Including both those dudes that was facing crimes.
The prosecutor disgust me😤 He’s narcissistic & in my opinion, evil. I pray this innocent 😇 man is Released-soon❤️👍
Yes. He was set free in 1993. He did get some money for wrongful imprisonment, but the amount is undisclosed. Unfortunately, he died in 2013 after suffering from dementia for years.
He’s free a movie was just released based off of this case it’s called just mercy it’s a very good watch
@AGgleusr ...but the country shure isn't.
@@khiddsmoke so was it really Just Mercy? This man loses his life from dementia, serves time in prison for a crime he never admit, and never fully recovered. I'm not ragging on you but I'm just thinking of how ironicalyy wrong of the so-called "Justice" is.
Not evil; this man is WICKED!
It’s absolutely disgusting to put this innocent man through all of this😢
Unfortunately this happens far too often in the Justice System.
Why is the word justice used?
ITS GONNA KEEP ON HAPPEN UNLESS MORE TAKE SEATS IN COUNTY AND TRULY GET SUPPORT FROM BLACKS
Injustice system
Got worst under
And that’s why America has more people incarcerated than anywhere in the world. Period.
How do these prosecutors live with themselves? What goes around, comes around and karma NEVER gets them.
The true Judge, sits on high and looks down . Amen!
Deborah Johnson my sentiments exactly. Karma is not the Righteous Judge. It is He that will have the last say. Amen.
Karma is for poor people, rich people take what they want and their children benefit and prosper. While the poor get shited on and cry about Karma.
@@deborahjohnson6834 yes indeed
RADIUM CLOCK ..they only care about themselves & their egos .
The man in the back at 12:36 is smiling like, yeah, he got you...
Lmmfao 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 I just saw that part and yo comment and I'm weak 💀☠️💀
🤣😂🤣. You have good eyes. I see it now.
The real killer somewhere watching this rn smiling
How can he call him a liar and a snitch in the same conversation
watching this after reading Just Mercy, anyone else?
I miss Ed Bradley and all the other old school 60 minutes reporters.
Me too. 💔
I hope they have people with more integrity and divesity like Ed. I definetly miss him & Bob Simon.
@@katelynbrown98 oh my god, i forgot to mention bob simon. loved that guy too
I agree,he was a Legendary Journalist and asked accurate questions.
I wish Ed was alive to see the truth
Ed - who?
Ed Bradley
I miss Ed Bradley
@@lifelearner45lloyd97 🤦🏾♀️Ed Bradley! The man who conducted the interview.
He knew
Went to go see the movie over the weekend. I couldn't stop crying! So glad he was freed!!❤ The color of your skin in some people eyes automatically makes you a guilty man!! Smh!!
Yep
The WAY he’s calling that man a “snitch”! He’s saying it with such disdain and with the hope/intent on having him “beat down” by other inmates!! I get SO SICK of these smarmy, lying prosecutors who play God with people’s lives!! I hope this angry, little man is TOTALLY deprived of sleep, comfort, rest, joy, happiness, etc! NO PEACE until he admits what he’s done!!
this is why i am studying to be a lawyer. i am sick of seeing multiple injustices just because of someone’s colour of their skin. it is DISGUSTING. people would rather see a coloured person locked up than to take the time to find the ACTUAL culprit, if it means that they get their pay cheques and can act like the hero of their little southern community. that got me stuffed up, bad. i am so glad that Bryan was able to point out the innocence of Johnny D. the Jury, the court Judge, the prosecution, the police department - all CORRUPT. they should all feel guilty for their lies. DISGUSTING. God knows and he will punish you. how dare you. Praise God for the justice that Bryan was able to bring justice.
Best of luck to you, I’m sure you will make a great lawyer. I’m so sick of the injustice black people go through in court.
I know I'm about a year late. I'm in school for social work for the very same reason. Stay true to your desire for justice, truth, fairness, and equality...no more how hard it gets, how ugly the world is, or how hard someone tries to discourage you. I wish you drive, determination, motivation, peace when it gets hard, and protection of your heart because people like you are RARE but you are special indeed and must be protected at all costs. The innocent, broken, hurt, and wronged need you. Best of luck love! 🙏🏾
Seems about white

Did they execute him
Mark Wall watch or read Just Mercy. So good! No they did not execute him because Bryan Stevenson was able to prove his innocence in court. It’s a truly incredible and inspiring story!
@@markwall298 johhny d didnt get executed he was freed after 30 years his friend herb he meet on death row got executed
The man you played Myers was spot on!! Great movie, glad they told this story.
Is he a "snitch" for the prosecution or a "whistleblower" against the prosecution, either way he looks like the posecution(criminals) is making him pay for it?!
Thank you Bryan Stevenson !!!
The guy who played Ralph Myers in the movie really got that mouth on point. Saw him in Watchmen too. Great actor
I agree the guy
who played Ralph Myers is a great actor, he also starred in “O brother where are thou”
A simple investigation of the facts of the case by people that care about justice for all has at least provided significant light on how wrongfully it was handled. People will do anything for hate, money, and ego.
Hooks got a messed up attitude. Seems like he still hiding things.
I believe dat fool don't remember wat was n his statement. Hence da reason he kept repeating himself. Then he made out good on dropped charges n reward money. I wonder where he is today.
Because he lying
He still the servant of them that got him to lie
@@tonezachary9875 You had me literally choking on my saliva with that statement, meh lawd, who made you🤣🤣🤣🤣. I'm cracking up all over again.
Police officers should have to take a lie detector test in cases like these.....you should be able to trust the police but they lie alot
Ralph snitched but he snitched "the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth"..he set an innocent man free.. bless him and Johny D and his Family. I hope everyone that were involved in his arrest n first trial found it in their hearts to admit their wrong doings seeked forgiveness from Johnny D before he passed away.
Who is here after watching Just Mercy
Me :)
This man said that he’s a “snitch” that is criminal slang. This is system is rotten.
In tears after knowing how an innocent man was convicted. Fine example of systematic racism 😒 😤.
Don't know how these people sleep. There pure wicked
Omg sounds like he want him dead to silence him...I seen Just Mercy...this interview was in 1992
