WOW!! I feel old! I remember this. Masked Superstar, what a physique for that time!! Wrestling 2 looked great for his age also. This was when I started watching GCW on Saturday night when I was around 12 yrs. old. And this was one of the segments that I remember from back then!! Thanks YellowDogEDxpress1!!
Man oh man...brings back tons of memories of early cable . LOL! Loved Mr Wrestling 2. He was a superhero!! And the Superstar wwas the ultimate bad guy!
In 1979, a new pro wrestling publication hit newsstands and magazine racks across the nation. It was Pro Wrestling Illustrated. When the first issue went to press, Mr, Wrestling #2 was ranked at #5 in the Most Popular Wrestler category. The Masked Superstar (Bill Eadie) was ranked at #6 in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and at #5 in the Most Hated Wrestler category. This reminded me of the time when Blackjack Mulligan tore up Ric Flair's robe on Mid-Atlantic wrestling.
Sawyer had to wrestle the manager from the holiday inn the following week for the chinzy robe in a grudge match. He lost and they put it on his credit card.
LIKEWISE! In my opinion, like Roddy Piper, Greg Valentine, the Fabulous Freebirds, and the Four Horsemen, those working behind-the-scenes REALLY knew how to work with the Masked Superstar to make him a great or bonefide villain!
@@ultragor What happened from what I have gathered is that the footage of matches from the 1970's on GCW were destroyed or either taped over. There are a lot of things that I remember that footage of no longer exists. As I have on a post from this video, there was the Hat & Robe angle between Blackjack Mulligan & Ric Flair.
"Most despicable thing I have ever seen in my lifetime" ?? I love Gordon Solie, but he tore up another man's robe. I see more despicable things in the first 5 minutes of each day of my working life when I turn on the morning news.
The Superstar was looking for those foreign objects that Mr Wrestling 2 used as weapons in his matches. Also, look how Buzz Sawyer wipes the floor with Mr Wrestling 2.
I know Eadie is probably more well known as Ax with Demolition but he will always be the badass Masked Superstar to me.
Rest in heaven, Mr. Wrestling II (Johnny Walker, 1934-2020).
Died 2020..not 2010

The good news is Mr. Wrestling II knows someone close by who can make him a new robe.

+TheMuzicphan True. II's wife made robes for many of the boys. Ric Flair had high praise for her for the robes she made for him
Actually, his wife was a seamstress and she made his robes. She made Ric Flair's robes too.
Underappreciated comment. Nice one. : )
@@Rusty3659 also greg valentine paul orndorff
I remember watching this on television .
Good to see Wrestling II in action. He was always a conditioning fanatic.
Superstar"you haven't asked me to be out here, I've asked you". Huge fan of superstar and 2!
masked superstar is the original badass antihero.
LIKEWISE! In my opinion, like Roddy Piper, Greg Valentine, the Fabulous Freebirds, and the Four Horsemen, those working behind-the-scenes REALLY knew how to work with the Masked Superstar to make him a great or bonefide villain!
ya gotta love Gordon Solie!
Amen!! The Dean of wrestling announcers!
The manager at the holiday inn is gonna be pissed.
RIP, Mr. Wrestling 2
How i miss these matches, what they said seemed so real.
Tearing up II's robe may not have seemed like a big deal to grownup fans, but the kids were hopping mad!
The Superstar was a monster..
And a gentleman outside the ring. Great guy
6:05 on Saturday, wtbs I miss those days
I wish somebody still had the Mr. Wrestling II vs. Ox Baker(1978?), where Ox pulls so hard on II's trunks they almost rip right off.
It was 1977 when they faced each other one month after 2 had been put out of action by Pak Song.
@@mkl62 Yeah that sounds about right, too bad the footage from the match can't be found.

I like when mr wrestling get angry
And there was the time when The Assassins jumped him and took his mask off.
Superstar and Buzz Sawyer totally outsmarted II on that one.
Solie looks pissed at II for taking the mike. II's wife made many of Flair's robes.
+litehouse6 damn, if looks could kill he would have been 6 feet under.
This is classic
RIP Wrestling II and Buzz Sawyer

He sound more intense than he did in the Mid South Area.
Loved Superstar. Seldom raised his voice, but he got the point across
When he went heel and turned on Gene Anderson, Ray Stevens, and Jimmy Snuka, he really raised his voice.
Miss, good days,, wrestling was,, wrestling back in days not this day
Wrestling 2 had a bad temper that was always getting him in trouble. I don't blame the Superstar one bit for destroying the robe
Mr. Wrestling II sounds like the real Apocalypse
He’s wearing a diaper! Lmfao
Damn that ring is short!
Superstar & Super Destroyer vs The Road Warriors would have been a pay per view match
Flair wore a mask that's cool.
ima mr 2 fan, but ox baker heart punch was BEAST!
That ring is knee high
Yes, it does seem rather short
Ditto for the Alabama ring.
masked superstar was great.
Mr Wrestling II knows he's over matched against Buzz Sawyer--when the match starts he keeps trying to run out of the ring.
Mr wrestling ll had tighty whities for trunks
Whatever happened to the Masked Superstar and Buzz Sawyer?
Masked superstar became Demolition Ax. Buzz Sawyer died of a drug overdose sometime in the early 90's
***** Buzz Sawyer died young Masked Superstar became Ax of Demolition
***** buzz bit the dust..
Masked superstar was in a very bad mood ...settle down future Ax let's save it for the ring.
The Superstar was looking for those foreign objects that Mr Wrestling 2 used as weapons in his matches. Also, look how Buzz Sawyer wipes the floor with Mr Wrestling 2.
that ring was only 2 feet high
You wouldn't to happen to have any clips of the phony Wrestling 2 the Superstar brought in while the real 2 was off in Japan?
Mourn for American made cloth.
Mr. Wrestling II was inexplicably dumb here. Focus on your match, old man. Then worry about your bathrobe.
Masked Superstar was played by Sargent Slaughter at that time.
Not sure about that. I don't remember Slaughter having that physique.
@@giraffesareselfish9563 I know Sam Eadie played superstar...I read online that Slaughter did also.
@@terrystud99 now that I look back at pictures of a younger Slaughter, I can see he definitely had the physique. Man I miss 80's wrestling.
Slaughter was Super Destroyer Mark 2 in the AWA.
No he wasn't The Masked Superstar..Bill Eadie was.
Uh...Masked Superstar 👍 should have torn mask off of lousy Mr. Wrestling II
I'm sure Wrestling II deserved it.
Solie, "this is one of the most despicable things I've ever seen." Really? Two was out what $22 bucks and a little bit of bedazzling work?
$ 22.00 ? THAT ROBE WAS WORTH THOUSANDS !
