@@chrismulhollen5135 I found out how to use the hose after making a big mess removing the filter. While the engine is tilted up and to the side to drain the oil you can unscrew the filter slightly to empty it. The hose is connected to the "protruding ledge" area below the filter, acting as an oil collector. It´s actually rather smart. I have a Tohatsu 20E and the hose isn´t mentioned in the manual, neither is the oil filter change really described in any way.

The 15 / 20hp EFI engine can use either oil, depending on where you are located and your intended use. 25W-40 should only be used if the engine is operated solely in above freezing temperatures. If the engine will be used in colder temperatures, such as late fall and early spring, then 10W-30 is the preferred choice. Reference the operator's manual to be sure you are using the correct products for the engine you own. 😊
While we do not have oil change videos for the carbureted 15hp and 20hp outboards, the process is very similar. Full instructions are laid out in your operator's manual. hi recently brought a 15hp efi 4 motor an was wondering what grade engine oil is being used in the engine from new. here in Australia two grades of oil are listed for use in the engine being a 10/30 weight and a 25/40 weight. what gives oh and yes i know its somewhat related to temp/climate that the engine operates in.
@Oscar Zamora i want to know what grade oil is used during the manufacturing process. eg from new. having asked about it turns out they are shipped to aus dry. and yes i have been around engines more then most people. In a past life i built diesel engines and various transmissions for a living.
