American Beauty is fascinating and even innovative film, along with other Ball's work as e.g. Six feet under, which is even more important for golden age of television. And that just proves that Alan Ball is talented and not just one hit wonder or even something less.

Alan should tell stories for all eternity. He later would go on to direct himself in his other films and TV shows and be very influenced by Sam Mendes' work on American Beauty. It's a scandal Alan did so few movies and TV shows compared to people like Ryan Murphy who create formats non stop. I guess good things are quality and non quantity.

The 1st 3 seasons are worth watching if you like vampires, werewolves and fairies 🧚‍♂️🧚‍♀️ .. Alan left as show runner at the end of season 5. The show lost major steam in season 5 and it felt like the writers were sadly mailing it in. Truthfully season 6 it was pretty embarrassing. It’s like how was that still the same show?
