The way Kratos screams after the punch, the way he's shaking from the sheer anger, the way he slowly stares off afterwards, this scene hits so hard it gives me chills
Yeah, it's really well written. He screams as if he's really trying to hold it together and not going apeshit on Thor.
If Kratos let the anger take him, Thor would have died right there on the spot.

If the old kratos did come out for more then a punch thor may have not lived longer, cause when kratos gets really angry his assault on someone is endless till they are dead.

Kratos didn't die, he was knocked out and woken back up with the electricity.

I don't understand why everyone is so surprised when Thor says "Consider your blood debt paid."
Thor repeatedly tells Kratos to show him "the god of war", the monster that killed a pantheon. And with that last punch and that angry roar, Kratos does just that. Thor has what he came for. He got his payment.
