I would recommend The Kevin Show/Kevin's Fifth, recorded live during the Pentatonix Christmas tour in 2022. Scott gives an introduction telling how they found Kevin, and then Kevin takes over the stage, using the electric cello he normally uses on tour, with some help from Matt on the drums. It's a slightly longer video (about 13 minutes), but it's definitely well worth it!
KO - original - "Renegade", and for a KOver - "True Colors" . I'm sure many folks will request "Down" which is mind blowing, but these are more about the expression, I feel, than the studio fun.
Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy Reimagined was the Kevin/Matt solo front he most recent Christmas tour. There is a high quality livestream version of it out there. It’s great.
If you want to be shocked...check out the recent tour concert in Kentucky (where Kevin grew up). He performed "Kevin's Fifth"...ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!!
This is one of my favorites from Kevin's channel. Most fans recommend the later videos, like "Down", where he has more and better equipment. But there is so much variety and a lot of good stuff in the earlier videos. You'll notice that since the baby came in 2021 he has only had time to do short videos. 🙂
For some reason I find myself on the verge of tears all through this. Down is a great show off performance, but some of these simpler ones are just beautiful.
Kevin makes me happy too. Thank you for the reacting to Kevin's beautiful video. I love how much Kevin loves what he does. Everything on Kevin's UA-cam channel is amazing, in my opinion. My current Kevin video obsessions are Performance KOvers of "Sign Of The Times", "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "Adele Medley" and "All Of Me". Please add them to your list for reactions. You can't go wrong with anything on Kevin's channel. "Void Of A Legend" is also an amazing song/video by Triptyq which is a trio that Kevin was in before and during early Pentatonix.. Please check out Triptyq also. They only put out one EP but all of the songs and videos are great.
I was happy to hear there wasn't anything scary going on. You kinda left us wondering, lol! Kevin is so deeply gifted and shares so much of his passion with his performances!
Cello is hard to learn and even harder to play as well as Kevin does. Notice that unlike a guitar there are no frets to help you know where to put your fingers. If your finger hits the string a quarter inch off from the right place the note will be out of tune. And you can see how the hand needs to move to different positions up and down the strings to play the full range of the strings. So not only are his fingers and hand moving fast, but they have to move to just the perfect position for each note. And the other hand holding the bow has to be at just the right angle to hit the correct string, and apply just the right amount of pressure, or the note will sound scratchy or thin. There are even areas of the cello strings that can produce bad sounds called wolf tones due to the acoustic properties of the instrument, so you have to know where those areas are and change your technique to avoid.

Yes, I know. I also have done only 1 Kirsten song and no Matt songs at all. Has been a tough time with hospital visits and stuff and other things on my schedule as well. Though there are Superfruit videos than any other solo/duo stuff on my channel 😉
