It's been ages since we've been inspired by one of your videos. Hoping the book has been a success, and hope we'll get to see more soon.
I'd love to see a video sometime of some drinks that you've made that you didn't enjoy as much. Something crazy you saw somewhere on the internet and tried because you were curious only to regret it or something like that. Great content as ever!
could be a good series idea. Make a drink that is kinda bad, then see if you can make it good switching up the recipe a bit. Could give some useful insight into how best to improve cocktails that just aren't your favorite.
Some of his themed videos like "Marvel" cocktails are like that.
He once attempted an Amaro Sour with Fernet Branca and said it was terrible
The Green Russian spec from Archer is horrible. He then does his own take on it that's good.
oh yeah, lots of my "recreated" series are like that. The recreation is often pretty nasty
These Espresso Martini riffs are killer, we can't pick a favourite so we are gonna have to make all 3 at the same time!
"Here's my $600 grinder and $2k espresso machine"
nice flex
Reminds me of Clair Saffitz. "This is a recipe anyone can make at home. Now take out your $700 stand mixer and edible gold leaf..."
... I love Clair, so that's not a dis 😛
I see the commercialization push has been successful
I see your coffee rig has improved since the last time you did a video like this!
Love idea of darker spirits in this cocktail, sounds delicious and will definitely give it a try. Nice work!
What happended with the videos??
Yea buddy I’m gonna try this one, especially with 43 liquor. Thanks for the great video!!!!
Hey Nick, your book just arrived. It travelled a looong way. I just read over it a bit and I'm already in love with it! Thank you for writing down your insane creativity and skill🙏🏻
Got my copy of the Cocktail Chemisty book today from Amazon. Very well put together. There is much of your dry wit inserted in its pages. Even better while I read it I hear your voice so it's almost like buying and audio book too. I love the note about the Green Russian from Archer (mix all ingredients then pour down the drain). Also thanks for giving us a glimpse into your family life with your partner and daughter. You guys look amazing and happy. All the well wishes and thanks again.
The first one with the cacao liqueur must be awesome ! The second one looks very intriguing ! I definetely have to try that !
I figured once the book shipped we'd get some videos to accompany it.... could we get some proof of life?
I just made the first variation with bulliet rye whiskey and espresso beans from the coffee shop I work at!!! I’ve been making espresso martini’s for a while now and this was by far the best one yet. Looking forward to the book launch for other recipes!!
I could watch the guy make drinks and talk to us day in and day out
Where’d you go? Come back
Can you do a Margarita video for the "3 Ways" playlist? You typically only have ever shown the Tommy's Margarita, which definitely seems nice, but people (including myself) would be interested in some other variants.
Just made the last of the three and wow. I was a big fan of classic espresso martinis but the lemon and coconut makes it so interesting and refreshing. I definitely found a new favorite :)
I actually created a coffee based cocktail, which I call Covè Maxwell. 3 small shot glasses of coffee, 2 shots heavy whipping cream, 2 shots rum, and 2 large squirts of grenadine syrup
Mr Black is the only coffee liqueur I use these days. Its amazing.
I hope rehab is successful this time! Can’t wait for you to start uploading once you get better!
Shut up Cartman
How do you know he Went to rehab?
@@johnnytieszen trust me bro
My great-grandmother lived in Prescott, AZ, and we always went to The Palace when we visited her (fascinating history with that bar, worth looking into). She always ordered a chocolate martini, I'd love to see your take on those
Hey Nick, pre-ordered and can not wait, hope all is well over in the States. Hope Shipping to Scotland doesn't take too long! Yes Yes, you are an international superstar. 😉😉
The amaro one sounds amazing. Thanks!
I recently saw that CVS sells packets of hand sanitizer that look a lot like those squeeze packets of applesauce for kids. The contents are 70% ethyl alcohol so I’m just gonna say it, sanitizer cocktails?
I love espresso martinis. I've tried it with adding coconut milk and guaro and it's DANGEROUS lol
How much rum was in the second cocktail? Looked like 1 ounce?
I had the same question! Not seeing specs for these online anymore
I had the same question but I think he used 1,5 oz of rum in that recipe, same as the rye in the first and the cognac in the third
just made the sweet one - I'm a fan. YES! YES! and THANK YOU!
Hello!
I just made an improvement to the traditional drink by using barrel-aged cachaça instead of vodka. In my humble opinion, it works much better than vodka.
Cheers!
Happy to see you're also a legit coffee nerd! 👍
Made the bourbon one but didn’t have the 43 or cacao so I did 3 dashes chocolate bitters and 1/2 oz cinnamon syrup. Holy %#?! Keeling that recipe. Fantastic.
That's a big upgrade from your old Barista Express!
Nice espresso setup! I also have a white Niche (they're so pretty 😍) and for a long while was also using an E61 group head machine like that one. Very reliable. Do you WDT or some other distribution step when off camera? The grounds looked like they could have used a little grooming to be more even and flat instead of mounded to one side. I made a puck grooming device that works extremely well out of a liquor bottle cork and a few very thin acupuncture needles. Very easy DIY and as you know a lot of those bottles can have nice looking corks too. Small nit pick, twisting the tamper like that, especially on the downward stroke, is usually not a good for the puck.
HOT DAMN been here since you were 50k subs or something years back, started here with the clear ice videos back then still great quality and love tuning in to the chill vibes, the creativity, and the delivery of drinks and definitely picking up the book :D
edit: darn i can't enter the pre-order contest because i'm in canada, oof, still getting the book tho~
Just preordered! Can’t wait!
There is only two ways to drink coffee
Black
And with Alcohol 🌊
Yo nick just wanted to say nice book! Read it and it was very descriptive and the pictures really let me know what it was going to look like -Ryan’s son
Where are ya at dood
Great video man, I'd like to see you making mimosas sometime on this channel.
Here we go again... Guess I'll have to try the three of them.
Been watching for a couple years. Appreciate your content man. You’re a cool guy
For the Hamilton rum, was it also 1.5 oz?
You gotta try pisco as the base liquor some time
Gin is also good
These recipes look beyond good. I make them using mister black, vanilla vodka and a lemon peel garnish and I thought it was already exotic. But you always manage to make the best variations out of a standard recipe. Thank you for the insights!
I wish we could get Mr. BLACK in Mid-Michigan... Can't find it and shipping spirits is hard in Michigan.
Try to use a less sweet coffee liqueur or anything but Kahlua. Even Tia Maria.
Why did he stop uploading
Have you tried the mr black amaro?
Why does this song (Take Five) go so well with cocktail videos‽
as an up and coming bartender in SF, my greatest fear & motivation would be seeing a guy like Nick Fisher pull up to the bar and order a drink. Would I be terrified or show my skills is the question…oof
Try Remy Martin 1738 (cognac) as your main spirit.
that coffee did not look like a light roast lol
Nice! Love the rittenhouse version like this. The sour one looks incredible!
For when you have to get up and ready for the day but really would prefer to be drunk.
Where did he go
These look amazing.....If only I enjoyed coffee
Caffeine + Alcohol = Perfect Combination!
Fun fact: May the 17th is Norway's national day
Bro are you alive or what?!?
I'm sorry, but is light roast a name of coffee roaster company? Because this seemed to me like definitely not a light roasted coffee, that was pretty dark. Otherwise great vid as usual.
I thought that at first too but the grounds and the actual shots/crema do look like they're from a light roast. The beans probably just looked dark from the lighting.
@@HylianPirate278 I thought it might look dark because of the lighting, but even the shot didn't look light to me tbh. And the beans look shiny. That doesn't happen with light roasted coffee. I dunno, was just curious.
God i wish i could get mr black in Virginia
From what I hear, you just need to leave Virginia
Do you think the Amaro version would work well Montenegro instead of Averna?
Sure does 😋
Agreed!!!
I also know you use St George spirits. How does mr black compare to St George coffee gin?
The Nola coffee liqueur? It’s very different, lots of chicory
Thank you, yes i think that's the one. I bought it maybe 3 years ago and really only remember enjoying it, it just in the rocks with tiramisu dessert or in a coffee martini. I noticed you opt for mr black so just curious why but now that you bring up the wood addition that makes a lot of sense.
One more quick question on gin if you don't mind. I noticed in your gin and tonic video you talk about different gins, have you tried the Darjeeling gin from California spirits in Auburn California? Ît's super interesting and has almost an earl grey type notes. I'm really not good with making gin drinks so wondering if you had a suggestion for something like that. Is there a way to send you a bottle to try out? I love the spirits from that distillery but the guy making everything doesn't have many suggestions beyond drink it however it makes you happy.
Beyond that discovered your channel a couple weeks ago and just blasting through your videos haha. Great work i'm learning tons and great job letting the drinks look so awesome in the close ups. Also enjoy the nut milk bag reference. When I use that term my friends get confused so very much enjoy that. Thank you again great work.
I miss you
Are you a James Hoffmann fan?
not trying to be a smart@ss, I actually don't know: is it still a martini using whiskey? I thought martini's had to have either vodka or gin to classify as a martini?
I'm a cocktail newb, but, when you change the base spirit, what makes it a martini still?
it's not really a martini, a lot of drinks that have martini in it's name are only called that because of the glass it's typically served in. you could say that a real martini only has three ingredients and one has to be an unaged base spirit.
@@Ghorda9 You mean a gin base. A "vodka martini" is really a kangaroo and will always be a kangaroo.
@@doctorx0079 don't you mean vesper?
@@Ghorda9 Technically, a vesper is not a martini either, but it's a martini variation. A vesper has gin and vodka with kina and a twist of lemon. A good kina to use is Cocchi Americano.
what happened to you?
I was wondering that myself. Nick, where are you?
where'd you go :o
Need some new uploads
That is a $2000 espresso machine. I just want viewers to know that you do not need a $2000 machine to make this.
Ghosted us.......
Nice...
*꧁ Fantástico compartir 🎶 😀 🌸 ꧂*
You have been forgetting to post the recipes
I think there's a recent push for commercialization over content and that makes me sad
Tbf it's not like he's pushing something low quality. Mr black is by far the best coffee liquer
@@teradaloo That's fine, I like being exposed to different/recommended brands, but it's the book and everything else. I love(d) the context, it just, forgive the pun, leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's push push push push push. Others do it without giving me this same feeling. Not sure what the difference is here
@@gw6667 it's so he doesn't need to rely on youtube ads that are much worse.
@@Ghorda9 the ads don't make me want to slit my wrists
@@gw6667 just skip ahead of the sponsor, you can't do that with ads that demands that you watch them for at least six seconds.
There's a drink called the Rittenhouse. It's a chaser followed by 3 good shots.
The hipster level really is repulsive
Where have you gone?
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! I'm number 3!!!!
