      I am really excited about pretty much everything haha, expecially about link's arm, expecially since his arm seems very similar to a companion that every zelda gamer knows and love, midna, also another thing that i notice are the clothes of link, who changed in almost every scene, also, is it me or the clothes of link when he jump to what seems to be the skyloft are really familiar to the clothes that twilight link wears before getting the twilight tunic? Who knows! Anyway, i also noticed that the little "splash" at 10:10 is very familiar to to the "splash" that happens just before one of the light spirits appears, and again, were we frist meet them? Twilight princess.
      I also think that maybe this game will be about time traveling, since the different locations that are very similar to other locations of other games, like skyward sword, and most likely, again, twilight princess

      I personally think that botw2 will be about ancestors.
      I think link gets revealed as being the last human with zonai blood. It said that the zonai dabbled in magic so links time slowing abilities could be Hereditary.
      The parts of the trailer where link is in a different outfit and flying in the air could be part of a playable memory of one of links ancestors. Possibly the hand could be part of an ancestor of link and every memory complete could upgrade the arm.
      I think the story will be about not only putting an end to the malice corrupted canon but I don’t think Zelda will be playable. The story could be revolved around saving Zelda just as wind waker was partly about saving links sister.

    I’m almost 100% sure that time reversing will be something key to this game. First, the reversed music seems to be some kind of leitmotiv. Then, the ability that makes the spiky rocks go backwards, along with the puddle becoming a drop of water that goes up make it seem like Link’s abilities will be focused on this concept. Finally, the fact that this game is most likely related to Skyward Sword (the first canonical game) further strengthens the theory

    • @izybot
      @izybot 3 роки тому +1

      I believe that chronology would put the games as skyward sword, then botw and botw 2 due to the islands in the sky as well as the deku tree is alive in botw and dies in ocarina with was originally directly after skyward sword so I assume botw and the sequel are between skyward sword and ocarina

      Breath of the wild is like the rebirth of Ocarina of time, and Breath of the wild 2 is like the resurrection of Majoras Mask. It makes sense that its somehow intertwined with skyward sword in time travelling(the gate of time) and travelling through the sky. The question is though, how he actually got up there(excluding the theorical puddle ability).

      As well as the fact that Link is known as the hero of TIME. There's also a theory that Link's element is time, just like Mipha's element is water, Ravali's element is wind, ect... in Breath of the Wild, Teba of the Rito was the only one that seemed to recognize how Link uses bullet time while shooting arrows in the air. I personally agree with this theory, especially since this trailer has a lot of seemingly time-related concepts.

  • @TimeturnerJ
    @TimeturnerJ 3 роки тому +277

    Here's something I just noticed myself: when we see that drop falling upwards as Link travels to the sky and through the rock, the ground where the liquid was seems hollowed out - like drops have been falling onto this very spot for many millennia, slowly carving away at the solid rock.
    If this is how Link travels between ground and sky, I wouldn't be surprised if there were specific "portals" - places where this strange liquid is dripping down, and has been for thousands of years, and if you reverse its flow with your arm, you can travel with it. Back into the sky.
    Portals/waypoints like that have been common in the Zelda series, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them here.

The Sheikah forced the Zonai into basically duplicating their technology, then genocided them and erased them from history.

    So, one thing I'm sure a few other people have pointed out: BotW Link has always had relatively long hair; he just usually keeps it in a short ponytail. Chances are good that the items he's wearing in the sky scenes just make him change his hairstyle. We even see precedence for this in items in BotW (See Shiekah armor, and a few others)
    So, I hadn't noticed that Link had the master sword in the scene where his arm got got, but I had a theory, and now that you've pointed it out, I think that fills in some holes.
    So, the Master Sword's whole thing is that it's the Blade of Evil's Bane, and I flat-out refuse to believe that any form of Ganon could have overwhelmed its sacred power and destroyed it, at least not in any way that matters. However, what could have happened here, was like... Link's arm started getting got, and the Master Sword did its thing and repelled the evil, just... not in time. So now Link's arm is corrupted, and corruption is slowly spreading through his body. It's being kept in check by those shiekah armbands, but it's also made it so Link can no long touch the master sword (at least not with his sword hand). Link probably ends up dropping the Master Sword, and it either uses its sacred power to return to its resting place, someone else retrieves it for him, Ganondorf kinda... kicks it into the pit, or, it gets left where he dropped it.
    And actually, now that I think about it, that flamethrower introduces the idea of Link using things in his left hand in order to attack. So, after all his trials and tribulations through the game, he returns to where Ganondorf is, Ganondorf mocks him for not being able to harm him since he can't use the Master Sword... and then Link grabs the Master Sword with his left hand.

    A few things that could be hypothesised:
    - When the malice corrupts Link’s arm it either destroys it or, to avoid the chosen Hero’s corruption, gets literally removed and gets replaced with the hand that was sealing Ganon (the scene when Link is lying on the floor, the writings on the stone is possibly Zonai and could be a magic chant of some sort).
    - When Link goes Za Warudo with his arm to stop the spiky ball and sends it back towards the Bokoblins and the Moblin, for a split second you see the Triforce on the back of his hand, which could mean that he finally got the Triforce of Courage because the arm that is now attached to his body is the one of the ancient Hero.
    - We don’t get to see Link’s face at all during the trailer, if not for the brief moment when we see his arm being attacked by the Malice. This could be intentional, as something might have happened to it. Do the same marks that are now on his arm and back (and possibly chest) appear on the right side of his face too? Which poses another question: is Link on borrowed time? Is the magic arm a temporary replacement of some sort, to help him maybe restore a now broken Master Sword, save Zelda and stop Ganon’s plan? If that is the case, they may not show his body and his face because they may change during gameplay. Just like the arm in the first trailer was trying to stop the Malice from pouring out from Ganon’s body, the arm now is trying to stop Link’s corruption. Should he fail, the arm will be unable to stop the flow of Malice in Link’s body and it’s Game Over for our Hero.
    - He is seen carrying a sword, but does not use it. What we have seen is either him using magic on his right arm (which is his weapon arm) and the left to attack (with the shield/dragon flamethrower contraption). Sure, the flamethrower might have been more effective on that particular enemy, but I just find really strange that he would use his defence arm to attack: if you’re right handed, using your left one to do any sort of primary movement is neither easy nor natural. Which could mean he cannot carry a weapon on his right because a) the new arm can only use magic, b) the new arm lacks of a gripping stance for some reason.
    - Zonai. References. Everywhere.
    - The strange looking stone frog I believe it is a Guardian. Whether it is hostile or Link has to help him we can’t be sure at the moment, but is body is connected via the same green energy we see with Link. It is possible that it is indeed a Guardian and that Link may have to fight him as a test, like a dungeon boss (which, by the way, I am positive they will return), to acquire something that he will need for his quest. If it is of Zonai origins (possibly) it would serve as one of the trials the ancient Hero had to endure millennia prior to the story. So instead of the Sheikah monks in the shrines like in BOTW, we have creatures like that.
    - Also worth noting (and it probably already has been extensively) that the carvings on the wall we see in the first teaser of BOTW2 depict Ganondorf riding a horse and wielding a trident that could possibly be the Trident of Demise or, at least, the same one Ganon wields in The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link (albeit only in art form as we don’t really get to see him in the game), A Link to the Past, Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons, all of which are falling in the the same timeline, aka The Decline of Hyrule and The Last Hero. Meaning that BOTW and BOTW2 could be in the same timeline.
    - Floating islands: before or after? I think after. First goes the castle, then bit by bit the rest of Hyrule. It could well be that the floating island have always been there and protected by the veil, but also that they formed as chunks of the land got ripped off and sent flying. Yes, they do have structures on them, but who’s to say that they weren’t buried under the ground of Hyrule and they resurfaced afterwards? We don’t even know exactly how Thyplo Ruins look like, if only by speculation. I’m just said, as above so below.
    - Also, reversed vocals in the music and the stasis upgraded ability (or what it seems to be), heavily implies time manipulation, rewind/forward kind of thing.
    - We have A Link to the Past, we have A Link between Worlds. Now we have A Link through the Ages. There, I said it.
    So yeah, these are just few ideas, I guess we’ll get wild in the next few months while we wait for it to be released.
    Edit: regarding the floating islands being after? Scrap that. They are before, definitely before. The puddle? Entry point, a portal of sorts. Link finds access points around Hyrule and uses the power of the arm to open the warp points between the two eras. Goes in as modern day Link, comes out in the sky as the Ancient Hero. The two frames in the trailer (drop from the puddle/Link shooting up and coming out of the stone floor) are not sequential, but they give the idea of what that particular action implies.

      @Scrima Games (Gamers' Reality) ✓ thank you 🙏 I’ve also considered the possibility that the story might be developing on two different times, one after the Calamity (and of BOTW) and one 10000 years before, at the time of the First Calamity. Link will go back and forward between eras and will be the Ancient Hero of legends to try and completely stop Ganon in the present. The rewind/forward thing makes me think that his actions in the past have a direct impact on the present: him acquiring the power of the Triforce of Courage in the present is a direct consequence of him going back to the past. He can’t use is right hand because he cannot wield the Master Sword (maybe it has its power depleted by the Calamity when the Malice attacks Link) and thus, he cannot destroy Ganon. Ideally, once Ganon is defeated, the Master Sword should be placed back on the pedestal. Always happens. But in the first teaser, after he defeated Calamity Ganon, he’s still carrying it on his back.
      “A sword wields no strength, unless the hand that holds it has Courage.” That’s what the Hero’s Shade from Twilight Princess said. It just makes sense. Unless he goes back and makes the Triforce of Courage his own, the Master Sword is nothing more than a letter opener.
      Oops, sorry for the rambling 😅 once I get going there’s no stopping me!

      Something I noticed throughout the trailer is that the Shieka Slate is gone. My theory is they went back to the shrine of resurrection to see if his malice ridden arm could be healed, but instead the Slate turned into that prosthetic arm which he now uses for runes somehow

    • @solislux3733
      @solislux3733 3 роки тому +10

      @@connerpoulsen446 that is also a very good possibility. However, the last time we saw the Sheikah Slate it was in the hands of Zelda at the end of BOTW, when she mentioned something being wrong with Vah Rutah. It may be that, if Zelda still had the Slate, it fell with her when the ground collapsed. But! There is an indication that Sheikah technology might have originated from the Zonai. If that’s the case, the Sheikah created the technology based on their knowledge of magic rituals of which the Zonai were users. And how did they discovered it? By finding the corpse of Ganon with the hand. The Royal Observatory has most likely being built for that exact purpose. To study and to replicate the power of the long lost civilisation so that, should the Calamity return, they would have been able to fight against it. If the Slate has been lost or destroyed, the closest thing to it would be the arm as it would have the same kind of abilities of the Sheikah Slate. So yes, the arm is a substitute for the Slate, but because it’s the real deal, much more powerful.

    I would love to have Zeltik's opinion on this:
    I'm replaying botw, and something caught my attention that might explain why Link and Zelda are underground. Very early in the game when King Rhoam finally explains who he is to link, he quotes the prophecy and says, "The signs of calamity Ganon are clear, and the power to oppose it *lies* *beneath* *the* *ground* . We never hear this line again in the game. I believe that the Sheikah and the people of Hyrule had mistakenly misinterpreted this prophecy, believing the guardians and divine beasts were what the prophecy meant. However it may be something more. I believe this is why Zelda and Link are seen searching underground in the original trailer.
    I also want to point out that, as far as I know, Ganon and Ganondorf cannot consciously exist at the same time. It's possible that in order to truly banish Ganon, something may need to be done to Ganondorf. Perhaps this is what the prophecy meant.

    • @katiedothdraw329

      that's a REALLY good oberservation. And i'm thinking since nintendo said breath of the wild "exists at the end of all timelines" and the headpiece on Ganon(dorf), it could be the same ganon as twilight priness, Ganon just being each male gerudo throughout history that malice or evil power uses as a vessel.

      I thought the same exact thing! Especially after seeing the trailer for BOTW2. The guardians and divine beasts never really seemed to fill the "beneath the ground" part of the prophecy in my eyes and I really think that this game is going to cover that. super excited for more updates on it!

      More on this, I believe that "the power to oppose it lies beneath the ground" could be referring to Link (himself), who was under the ground in BOTW, waiting to be restored. What you call 'eggs' on that stone cyclops make my art history senses tingle. They look exactly like a common architectural decoration and that would make them pine cones. In ancient times, the pine cone was a symbol of fertility. In Christianity, the pine tree is seen as the tree of life and its cones as symbols of resurrection and immortality. I'm curious to see if this interpretation has any merit.

      I doubt it's intentional, but I have always seen the Triforce of Courage and all things related to the colour green as being related to life and spirit. Aside from the spirits of sages, who are usually identified as their own separate things, the only other spiritual beings we ever see in Zelda are the Kokiri and the Koroks, who are basically forest spirits and very consistently related to Link's origins. Nayru's power in OoT was Nayru's Love, but aside from that, blue has always been related to intelligence and technology, and red is always related to power and destruction. So it does seem like a moderately natural connection to make from a design perspective.

      Not sure that I agree. Link laying on the table in his underwear is very reminiscent of him being restored in the 100 years before BOTW. It's possible that he loses his arm to the calamity energy and nearly dies and so must once again be put under rest. Except the Zonai have a different kind of technology that is much more bodily, rather than a stone tablet full of technology, and so his lost arm is replaced by Zonai technology
      It sounds like kind of a rehash, but if BOTW2 takes place 100 years later, I wouldn't be that surprised. There was talk about going for a darker story. Link gets his arm ripped off and replaced and is wandering a world where many of the people he met are old or dead and so is Zelda - pretty dark.

      That's what I was thinking. I'm more thinking there is an event where link loses his equipment rather than "new outfit new hair = time travel". I wouldn't say it's impossible though. Judging from the official timeline on Zelda.com, Breath of the wild has never been placed on the timeline. My first thought was BOTW 2 sets up Skyward Sword. It makes even more sense when you think about how they are releasing Skyward Sword again and not Wind Waker HD or Twilight Princess HD. Who's to say for sure though? Maybe the reason for my thoughts here is because of time travel. Or everything I said was completely wrong.

    The conflicting "falling" scenes are weird to me. In this one she falls, but in the previous one it is implied that Link catches her. Is one of the scenes a dream, or did they change the story since the first teaser? My theory: The earthquake causes Zelda to fall, Link tries to catch her but can't, then the hand reverses time (this teaser hints at this ability), allowing Link to save her. In the game, this is the first time we're able to see the power of the hand that Link eventually inherits.

    I think the sequel might focus more on the triforce as well. We did not see much of it in the original, but so far we have seen link use the triforce for time reversal, get his own new abilities, and the arm is distinctly green the color that has been associated with Farore, courage, and wind. Perhaps he did not inherent the triforce because it was still being used by the arm on Ganondorf, which might be the arm of the ancient hero. Since the arms have been combined, he may have gained the ability to use the triforce once more.
    There is also a notable color change in malice. In the original game, malice was a purple/magenta color. In the trailer it seems distinctly a more pure red, associated with Din. This would leave the Sheika Slate going back to Zelda as we saw her in Age of Calamity. This would make sense as the sheika tribe serves the royal family and the technology radiates a blue color associated with Nayru and wisdom. We also saw Zelda get the Master Cycle instead of Link in the new expansion for Age of Calamity. We did not see much of Zelda in the trailer but perhaps gets separated with the slate during the cave in, and will have a separate adventure whether that is playable or not.

    That shoulder-garb and skirt is a toga. Those strapped sandals are caligae. There are definite ancient greek vibes going on here. Even the color theory shares parallels to colors used represent Olympian fantasy scapes. Gold fields. Viridian clothes replacing the stark green/blue... Also, I don't think the being at 5:00 is a boss. Just showing it animating in place seems like an odd way to tease a new enemy. Also the yellow broomstick on its chest gives me more of a service sign vibe than a mysterious emblem. I think this golem is more likely a helpful NPC than a foe.
    and it uses *green* energy, which I think we're being lead to believe correlates to Link's connection to bravery/spirit, much like the *blue* energy in BotW1 correlates to Zelda's wisdom/magic _(and if you ask me, I think they are both Sheika related, with green being an inherent natural energy with blue being an engineered version of it)...while Ganon's *red* energy (Malice) is of course representative of power/evil.

    Alright heres the plot, according to me, based on what Im seeing. The green hand is none other than that of the ancient hero from the tapestry. After Links arm gets infected/possessed by malice, the energy of the ancient hero has no choice but to fuse with his arm in order to prevent the death or full possession of Link. Im assuming he's incapacitated by it, thus why he's lying down when the green substance fuses with his arm. In doing so, the soul/story/memories of ghe ancient hero are fused with Link as well, which is where the 2 different Links in the trailer come in. Current Link is always shown in the champions tunic and never in the same shot as any of the floating islands. The current hyrule scenes where the castle is floating at the end, theres not a single floating island in the sky. The Link in the "ancient" outfit IS the ancient hero. I believe were going to play out the game, at least partially, AS the ancient hero, in ancient times, his own time. We never get a frontal/face shot of the ancient Link. This is also why the new shield has the same, or at least very similar, emblem as the earings on the new Shiekah-styled enemy. I also think this is NOT a new enemy, but a friendly character, thus why it assembles using the green energy and not malice. I believe the Hyrule with the floating islands IS ancient Hyrule and that we're going to get the story from 10,000 years ago. I think this is absolutely SICK and I cannot wait to play this game.

      Im so surprised that nobody liked this comment, because this is EXACTLY qhat I think is shown in the trailer and is going to happen in BOTW2. As you said, in the last shot, not a single island in the sky. The Link that floats in the sky always has long hair and his face is never shown. The Link from current times wears his blue outfit every time we see him. The outfit of ancient Link looks very ancient greek like to me, another indicator that this Link lives in ancient times. Also, this Link has earrings, I think current Link does not if Im correct. I do think we will play through this game as 2 different Links in 2 different era's, who are connection to each other by the fusion of Links arm and ancient Links energy. Ancient Link was probably way more connected or befriended with the Zonia. I think they will play a big role. Also, I think that Ganondorf tries to amputate Links arm with his malis because he wants the Master Sword, because Demise is locked inside there. He wants te free him. That explains the hd release of Skyward Sword even more and the fact that there is similar floating island hopping gameplay in both. It could also mean that Fi might come back in the sequel, as we known she is still in the Master Sword by the cutscene from BOTW, when she makes her signature sound. Because if I remenber correctly, Fi is in the sword with Demise to keep him locked in there.

    Ive said this before, and I will say this again: We are going into the Scared Realm (location of the Triforce) for BOTW2; Gannon opens the gate to the Sacred Realm, and Hyrule goes into literal upheaval. Look at images/ artwork of the Sacred Realm provided by Nintendo, islands floating around the Triforce.... BOTW 2 will be a direct interaction with the Triforce.
    In BOTW, the Triforce wasn't mentioned (at all?), and that's to contrast that BOTW2 takes place when Gannon breaks the seal and merges the Sacred Realm with Hyrule.

      Zelda had the Triforce of Wisdom. She used powers that only the Triforce, even a part, could use. Ganondorf still has Power. Even his dark magic could only keep him alive in spirit, but not in body, for 10,000 years. And Courage tends to go to the one worthy of it. But it's been over 10,000 years since we last saw or even heard of the Triforce. The people, mostly the royals, know that there are those chosen by destiny, some random guy that the Master Sword likes, and the new Zelda.

It also seems like this green energy might counteract malice as the energy is seen healing links arm after malice attacks it.

    The time reverse move that Link does definitely reminded me of the stasis rune, but when you pointed out the similarity to the triforce symbol being used, it gave me a few thoughts. One being that if this is the triforce, it's the first time we have seen Link have this level of mastery over it, rather than it only activating when he needs it. If it is the triforce as well, that makes me think that the ancient shiekah likely made the slate and its runes as a way of trying to copy the last hero's abilities with the triforce. We already know the royal family made copys of the Master Sword for the guard, so I don't think it'd be too far of a stretch for the Shiekah to have witnessed the hero's abilities and tried their best to emulate them.

Power is associated with red, so now that ganondorf has awakened he can use his triforce and make the purest (Like you said) form of powerful and evil malice. For me the parallel between skyward sword crazy. The way link reaches out to Zelda’s hand while she’s falling, the skyloft-esqe aesthetic. I think the garb represents an older time and I think link will make another mastersword like Skyward Sword hence the blade is missing. Maybe link cannot use it with his corrupted arm and hence Ganondorf breaks it or something. Also it does seem like it’s above hyrule but the sky area cannot be seen from the ground that’s probably coz there’s a one way barrier for hiding it from view/it’s very far and shrouded in clouds. As for the different horns maybe all that while ago they looked different and evolved to the form we saw in botw.
    One more crazy idea is that if link goes back in time to make another mastersword and he has to get it forward in time himself (as opposed to the original timeline where it eventually breaks he has to fight link from skyward sword as a boss. Hence the hairstyle change to differentiate. (Too crazy ik)
    I hope there’s something to speed up flying if there are sky islands as the glider may be a bit slow.

      Thinking about it, Nintendo stated to some news sites I believe that they purposefully didn't tell the name of the game yet to "avoid spoilers". Seeing as Skyward Sword HD is releasing soon with many people playing it for the first time, there might actually be an actual story connection to Skyward Sword. Even if the whole deal is still pretty stupid if the name is indeed set, that might be the most plausible explanation (I can't think how exactly a potential title would spoiler Skyward Sword though).

      @@Mimi.1001 wasn’t the title going to reveal what’s happening in botw2? I was thinking like how if it were “demise of the wilderness “ it’s has demise in it so it could hint at demise being there (only an example Idt that will be the title)

    Story stuff aside, I am super excited for the fact that this game seems to introduce so many new gameplay elements, meaning it's not just a carbon copy of botw, but rather an extension.

    Oddly the detail that really grabbed me is the nails on the green hand. They're long, a lot longer than I would expect from a soldier. I can't help but wonder if it isn't his arm? Though it's far more likely I'm just reading into it too much and they like the aesthetic look of longer nails.

      The spectral hand that grabbed Link in the first trailer also had long nails, so I'm assuming your observation is related to their connection.

      I was thinking that maybe the Master Sword fused with his arm when the Malice got all over it, and that would make sense for why it has those rocky textures on it and its actually metal or something. Would give him some interesting power's, let's just hope Fi doesn't come out of it.

    To expand on the theory about the golden glow on the back of Link’s hand while using the time-reverse power, we can also see a gold triangle on the hand at the very last frames of that shot.

    • @NEUR0MANCER_
      @NEUR0MANCER_ 3 роки тому

      no you cant. they wouldnt give you a triforce at the start of the game. More then likely you have to earn it, if its even in the game at all. The hand is something new, if it was the triforce thats the first thing they would show, and you would be able to see it anytime they focus on the hand.
      But they only focus on the hand itself and the new design, because it is something new related to the spriti energy, and maybe the master sword, that grabs ahold of link.
      it probably starts out blue then turns red and attacks him, grabbing his hand while hes holding the master sword, doing something to both. Probably just giving link magic power so he doesnt need the shieka slate.

    I'd just like to point out that while link has his hair down for most of the trailer it's back in his signature ponytail in the shot at 6:25 to me this means 2 things. First, his hair isn't any longer as the ponytail seems unchanged from the original game, and second; maybe there's some sort of customization for links hair (and maybe the glider possibly hinted by the streamers) similar to the dye shop in the original game. Possible things aside I'd absolutely love to see some tri-force use in this game, I'm not sure we've ever even seen what powers the tri-force of courage provides though I could be wrong. Whatever the case, hyped for the release date in 2022.

  • @TheSpaceCat

    There is something cool that i realized; during the last shot when Hyrule Castle is floating in the sky we can see that there are not floating islands, this suggests that the islands were not there before (altho we know this bc BOTW did not have them) and some event made them appear.

    • @lonestarr1490
      @lonestarr1490 3 роки тому +1

      My initial thought was that the floating islands were raised in pretty much the same way as Hyrule Castle, or maybe the rising of the Castle makes the whole land 'gravitationally unstable' or whatever. But that doesn't add up since those islands appear to not carry any familiar structures, so they most like do not originate from Hyrule.
      Maybe Hyrule Castle doesn't stop rising and at some point enters some kind of a sky realm.
