Alright, time to clear things up: Yes, the "Rollercoaster" reference in "Murphy's Lard" to Melissa's science project was the first confirmation of the shared universe, in addition to the numerous other references to a shared universe in Season 1. I understand that most people were aware of the shared universe before this scene. BUT this is the first true "crossover" moment of the series, and is treated very differently than the "rollercoaster" moment, which was largely a joke. I realize I should have been more clear, but I stand by the fact that this is the grand reveal of the shared universe, and the rollercoaster bit was simply another Easter Egg pointing towards that. And yes, Dan & Swampy did discuss the shared universe before this episode, but it was unknown what effect, if any that would have on the series at the time.

I love how it’s so unbelievably a Dr. Doof scene. The dramatic reveal, the intense music, the shadow, only to have it culminate to “wait, you’re not the pizza delivery guy!”

I remember watching that episode for the first time and hearing them mentioning the street name and thinking: "hey; that sounds like a reference to Phineas and Ferb" and not long time later there was dr. D himself. Loved that moment

This wasn’t the first time they confirmed that P&F and MML were in the same universe. There was one episode before this one in which Melissa reveals she’s afraid of roller coasters because a very familiar roller coaster landed on the project she was working on and destroyed it.

I think that it could be interpreted as just a funny reference, not proof for the interconnectedness of the two shows.

@@neonbunnies9596 Sometimes the creators reference their old work, you might see the same symbol in two shows made by the same person, it can be more of a gag than confirming that the universe is the same.
@@mortsllaf true, but they go out of their way to do so. Adding in multiple frames of animation usually shows a event taking place, and if the same event happen in each universe, then they must be in the same universe

I love how Melissa was terrified of roller coasters because the roller coaster from the first episode phineas and ferb almost squashed her.
When you realize, this series basically revealed a key element as to why the doofenshmirtz from the main universe turned out good..
Because he possibly CHANGED his own past, only to realize... It was originally a GOOD childhood, and that he had to MAKE it worse to make sure he becomes professor time.
Which would explain many retcons they did, the the bats attacking him during his birthday being replaced by him not being allowed to keep his cake. *which was one of the only things he could IMPROVE from his past without staying evil* As well as his parents not being around for his own birth, BECAUSE Future Doof was talking WITH his past parents to explain his entire future, possibly with hologram proof. *Could have shown a heartfelt hug with his parents, saying they are soo proud of him, reveal they both took acting courses, etc* He would also make sure he NEVER loses choo choo, due to how his 2nd dimension turned out.
I want to believe that this is canon. A lot of plot holes would be filled up and it would be cool trying to make Doof change his life for the better

This show is the most underrated anything in anything history.
Although Milo Murphy's Law is not cancelled, let's hope to see Milo and friends one more time in a crossover with Hamster and Gretel, Disney's brand-new show.

I was a kid and I had just entered the room when this episode started, I had barley watched milo murpheys law before hand but I liked it, and I had no clue doof was gonna show up til he did, so I was shocked.

Glad we’re getting another Milo Murphy video. The Phineas And Ferb crossover was handled so well, but I wish it wasn’t the sole focus of the marketing. The show had so much more to offer besides that
Me too, it's been a while! The show really was it's own thing and I think in a way the P&F connection hurts it a LITTLE bit when it comes to the 2nd season
@King Pistachion the marketing hurt it a lot, in my opinion. So many people, myself included, were hyped for Phineas and Ferb and i think a good amount of us, myself included, expected to see more of them and the cast throughout season 2. But that didn't happen and i know i felt disappointed with that due to the heavy marketing, making it seem like they'd be more involved. Doof was a fine addition but there were episodes where it felt like it was PnF 2.0 without PnF, which, again, goes back to the marketing hurting it.
The season 2 story wasn't too bad, but Candace Against the Universe undermines it just a little since it has a similar plot, kinda. Which is unfortunate because the show is already underrated as it is, and it was put even more in the shadow of Phineas and Ferb than it already was lol.
The good thing about having discovered the show on Disney+ years after it aired, is that I had no idea about the twist! My jaw dropped when it happened

I saw the promos on Disney Channel about Doof being in the show, but somehow I didn’t realize that they were advertising Fungus Among Us so I still didn’t expect him to show up in that episode. But as soon as I saw the purple walls I started freaking out

Crossover special imminent!!!! WOOOO-HOOOO!!!!!” I was freaking out so much, I didn’t even hear Doof speak at all!!!! My parents ACTUALLY CALLED THE COPS that’s how much I was freaking out!!!!!
By the time I started watching MML (beginning this year), I know about the whole Doof appearance, I was dying to see how they did it. Fungus Among Us ranks as one of my fav episodes.

I got into Phineas and Ferb recently via Disney Plus, bingeing both series. I think I found out about Professor Time on the wiki. That's probably how I knew MML was connected... anways the point is:
I knew going into Fungus Among Us that Doof would be Professor Time and STILL that build up was PERFECT. I had a huge grin on my face as they went up the elevator(inator)

I started watching in September of last year, and as I usually do with shows, I spoiled half of everything for myself (I do want to stop doing that though) But even with that, I thought it was a great reveal and that Doof added a lot of great things to S2.

I’ve actually been working on an animation on FlipaClip for a few months now, which is in full color and now about 15 minutes long... still not done, but it’s always good to be reminded of how proper animation should be done. Also, even as an amateur animator, seeing that error with the net in that scene was really uncomfortable...

It's weird that the Line from Doofenschmirtz in the Promo ("Wait, the Dog's Name is Diogee? What's that all about?") was actually not in the Episode Fungus among us or the Phineas and Ferb Effect.

Another great thing about this is that despite all the familiarities, the scene still left a sense of uncertainty in some viewers. All the fancy patterns on the walls really helped to throw people off when compared to the simplistic design of D.E.I back in P&F. And to the unwary eye, the trap going off could've gone over some people's heads, just dismissing it as Murphy's Law acting up again or as a security measure so others don't interfere with Professor Time's research.
This is one thing I love about this scene, how there are just so many ways to interpret it, and this is just one of them.
I watched the whole show on Disney+. I guessed it was Doofenshmirtz because I knew, thanks to the internet, that he had a major role later on. As soon as the Doof reveal happened, I knew I should show my mother MML. Doofenshmirtz was both our favorite character on PnF, so I convinced her to watch MML and (with difficulty) held back from mentioning Doofenshmirtz was in it. She was surprised, didn’t figure out it was Doof until he appeared on screen. I was so proud of myself for managing not to spoil the Doof reveal, or that Phineas and Ferb eventually showed up
Are we just going to ignore this was already revealed? When it was revealed why Melissa was afraid of roller coasters it was because of the helicopter carrying Phineas and Ferb's rollercoaster from the first episode.

I remember watching it when it aired and remember those promos really well, and was pretty excited when they called it the Phineas and Ferb Crossover and got really impatient waiting for part 2.
Hearing that Doofenshmirtz was gonna be on the show is also what got me to watch it 😂
But watching the season one finale first was not a good idea cuz I had absolutely no idea what was going on the whole time so I had to go back and watch all of season one after that so everything would actually make sense

I saw the first pair of episodes in 2017 when they were just a preview on UA-cam. Then I caught up to the rest of the series in 2018 when we kept getting teased with the crossover but it kept not coming out, BECAUSE I wanted to catch up with the Phineas and Ferb sequel series before the crossover. Now I like MML a little better than PnF.

Would've been cool to see Ferb and Doof working together to create time travel as he gets with doof's daughter at the end of the show giving him a connection to Doof.
Episode 6 of Season 1, Murphy's Lard, also flagrantly displayed the fact that these two shows exist in the same universe.
ETA- Episode 8, The Substitute, also briefly shows the Klimpaloon. Man, I LOVE the connections between these two shows

This shows that good story telling is a craft. A trade if you like. And that it doesn't matter which "material" you use: animated, real human characters, comedy, drama... there's a whole bunch of rules (laws) that you have to take in account or else... failure. Very good demonstration, this. Thank you.

honestly watching this again just made me disappointed about the pistachio ark, it could’ve been so much more if it was a over arching story instead of a seasonal story, imagine if everything wasn’t just crammed into the phineas and ferb effect, and we got the more information about milo from other time travelers instead of the aliens, but it seems like the show has ended so sadly…:(

I agree, it's also weird how it's never addressed after the P&F Effect. I mean, sure the story was done, but it never felt like we got to know Derek as a villain

It was mentioned a lot the two series took place in the same universe/time. The creators talked about doing a crossover before the show even started while everyone was still mourning phineas and Ferb.
Not to mention Melissa’s project was almost squashed by the famed roller coaster and it’s shown in a flashback near the beginning of the series. 😂😉

When I first watched Milo Murphy's Law when it was first airing, I did so without having watched Phineas and Ferb. I was vaguely aware of it though. I'd walk in on my younger sister watching it on occasion. I'm pretty sure I didn't watch the finale live though, probably DVRed. I was actually completely unaware of the promos about Doofenshmirtz. So when I first saw it, I had no idea he was going to show up but I was familiar with who he was supposed to be. I did eventually watching a second time on Disney Plus after watching all of Phineas and Ferb, so I understood a lot of the references and was actually more excited seeing him again though I already knew he was going to show up.
After this point, the show did change forever. Milo Murphy's Law Season 2 was basically a Phineas and Ferb spin off. Two of potential spinoffs for Phineas and Ferb, the OWCA Files and Doof 101, focus on Doof and Perry the Platypus. And Season 2 includes a plotline about Doof and Perry the Platypus.
My absolute favorite animated series (to date). I wish it was available on DVD. Thanks for this video, I agree, it was a great reveal expertly drawn and animated.
Imagine what would have happened if they did not promote that Dr. Doofenshimrtz was going to be in the finale. Would have been the equivalent of a Marvel twist.

I was in an interesting place watching this episode. I was watching the show all the way through for the first time last year, when everything was done through season 2. I knew there was a crossover at some point, but since I wasn't there for the promotion of the season 1 finale, I had no idea when watching it that this was when the crossover began, so the payoff of the twist about the two sharing a world may not have gone off for me, it the twist that Dr. Doof was Professor Time took me by surprise.

Wow, our viewings were vastly different of the show, it's cool hearing it from a different perspective on it. I knew before the series even started that it was going to be in the same universe as Phineas & Ferb, now I'm wondering if I was even allowed to know that at that time. So, I went to a lot of local conventions before 2020 shut all of that down. Back around after Phineas & Ferb freshly ended, I got to meet Olivia Olson at a con. I was cosplaying as Dr. Doofenshmirtz & pretty much the front of the autograph line because I was excited to meet her. I actually got to talk to her the previous day because I was waiting in line for a different autograph & we got to chatting just a little because she didn't have a line & I mentioned I was going to come in the morning of the next day as Dr. Doofenshmirtz so when I got to see her for her autograph, she remembered me & we got to talk more. The autograph book she signed has Phineas & Ferb on the cover of it. She asked me if I knew about Dan & Swampy's new show coming out & I told her I did not. She dropped the name which Milo had a different first name but I can't for the life of me remember what it was now. She told me it's supposed to take place in the same universe as Phineas & Ferb. So when I got home, I looked it up &, well, not much. There were a few articles about it but they gave so little information, I think the primary thing they talked about was the name change so I knew it was Milo Murphy's Law instead of the name Olivia gave me. I knew to keep tabs on it & actually caught the first episode by Disney uploading it themselves to youtube, actually thank them for that since I had easy access to show it to my friends. So yeah, I saw the series as it came out from there knowing full well that it was the same universe as Phineas & Ferb.
Funny story, for the most part, I avoided the promos. I think I used epguides to know when the episodes were airing & I did join a Milo Murphy's Law fan group on Facebook so I actually don't know how I was so lucky to avoid the promotions for this episode but I managed to & got to go in blind & saw it when it newly aired. I had it set to record so I could ff through the commercial breaks. Doofenshmirtz being Professor Time was actually a bit of a surprise like I could tell it was Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc, like I cosplayed as the guy, of course I recognize his own home. I have no clue how I avoided the promos & articles about it, guess I was just lucky in that regard but I knew they were going to do more to show it is in the same universe at some point, the small call outs here & there before hand were just the tip of the ice berg.
Back before this aired, actually just weeks before we got those new episodes leading up to it, I cosplayed as Milo & my friend was Diogee, we attended a con together that Weird Al was a special guest at & we got to meet him together. He even took our picture & sent it to Dan & Swampy, I still can't believe that happened. Somehow at the convention, I still managed to dodge spoilers about the upcoming episodes like I was clearly Milo & nobody said anything about them to me. I think maybe Weird Al might of dropped somewhat of a hint but not really at his panel, if he did, it would of gone over my head since I avoided promos like the plague.
Part of why I tend to avoid promos is back in 2006, Nickelodeon had this promo for the upcoming Danny Phantom special, Reality Trip, where Danny's secret gets exposed on stage & I flipped out over it. Constantly rewatched that promo as in I'd play Toontown with the TV on mute on Nickelodeon & when the commercial break started, I'd unmute & watch the commercials. I was obsessed with that promo but it spoiled a huge part of the special & something I killed for seeing in that series, alright not literally killed anything to see it but you know what I mean. I was loving the promo but it wound up softening the blow of the special for me, maybe it's because I watched it about a million times over. Anyways, I've tended to try to avoid promos since, I'm terrible at it so how I got lucky with dodging that massive bullet with Doofenshmirtz being in Milo Murphy's Law, don't know but I knew it was the same universe all along thanks to Olivia. Curse you Vanessa Doofenshmirtz! Seriously though, I am eternally grateful that she queued me in on this series.

A couple months ago I was watching Milo for the first time on D+ and absolutely loved it. It really bothered me that it wasn't getting Phineas levels of recognition too, as well as straight up criticism for "not being enough like Phineas" and "trying too hard to be Phineas." I love it regardless. My best buddy is also a huge fan of Phineas and Ferb, and as soon as I recommended Milo to him, he had no idea that it even existed. A month later, it's his new favorite show. I'm trying to spread the word as much as possible because this show deserves a season 3 (even though it sadly looks like it won't ever happen)
There was no promotion in my country, poland for this so when i watched this episode and saw this scene it punched me so hard.

I started the show this year, on a Monday and finished it the following Wednesday, and I knew that Phineas and Feb we going to crossover eventually and Doof would be a main character, but I didn't quite know when. And even when I looked at the titles of the show I assumed that Doof would show up in The Phineas and Feb effect. So I got to feel the suspense and excitement in the scene and it was amazing. And yes I could see it coming from foreshadowing and it was confirmed as soon as that door opened but it felt more like award for noticing than oh yeah didn't they say Doof was showing up. So... yeah

I got to watch the show pure, knowing it was made by the creators of Phineas and ferb made it, but not knowing about or expecting a crossover.
I did pick up on the roller coaster reference, but I thought the show would just have small references like that.
I somehow missed out on all the promos because I'm not terribly active online. I literally was in college but was still freaking out thinking "There's no fucking way" and then screaming when the reveal happened

And then there was me, who hadn't seen P&F, so I thought he was just another OC for the show.
It was a great scene, but while I watched MML in D+, I had the reveal spoiled by the notion that my feed was flooded for over a year about the crossover happening.

@King Pistachion for me it was.Luz had a interesting character arc here and badass moments,the secret of why lilith curses eda get revealed,emperor belos was a great villain,the whole episode was more serious than all the other episodes in the series and the cliff hanger was also good.
It would be interesting to talk about TOH's S1 finale. I feel like Young Blood, Old Souls got quite overshadowed by Agony of a Witch
