  • This is a quick clip of me running again, a year after being scheduled for a hip replacement but turning the surgery down. Instead I treated myself at home with a combination of approaches; the osteoarthritis dissappeared and the cartilage repaired itself. The magic of nutrition, supplements, inflammation management, exercise, rest and extreme patience!

    Thank you so much for sharing your information. This gives me hope. I had a bad fall 3 yrs ago & have steadily declined in my mobility. The pain has been brutal 24/7. The docs are fixated on R hip needing replacement. There was no problem prior to the fall. I was running, cycling, skating, dancing. They are frustrated with me because I won't agree to jump in line for surgery. I keep saying that I know my body can heal without surgery. Your information is priceless in guiding me along that path. I hope & pray that I will be mobile once again. I ran, skipped, bounced everywhere & now I have to walk like a troll lol. It has been so demoralizing & distressing because I am barely able to accomplish basic indoor tasks, let alone yard work/gardening. I will implement your steps to healing. So happy for your wonderful recovery.

    Hi Andrew
    Really enjoying your content. I’m a man rapidly closing in on his 66th bd. In the last few years I’ve undergone bi-lateral (both knees) knee replacement after crippling osteoarthritis in both knees for many years. I’ve also had rotator cuff shoulder joint surgery. Now I’m just a few days away from having hip replacement surgery. After watching your YT videos, I’ve decided to postpone my scheduled surgery and adopt the dietary changes that you talk about. Hip pain has been crippling and has drastically reduced my physical activity… I weigh 300 lbs and I’m as miserable as sin.
    I will implement the lifestyle changes that you talk of. Wish me luck

    WOW absolutely amazing, as I hobble around with a very bad left hip and knee and now traveling to my right hip. My first course of action was to lose weight, which didn't help at all. Then only veg, chicken and fish, still no relief. Then on to the supplements, I realize they take time. Now introducing the carnivore/lion diet, and feeling some relief. I hope after a few months, my cartilage will recover, I enjoy eating fatty red meat.

    Thanks shapefixer , that demonstration really validates your claims, the main reason I asked for the demo is due to fact that 12months ago I was doing poorly health wise, so after watching inspirational videos on UA-cam I changed the way I was eating and my hip improved, I thought I was lucky and didn’t associate my changed eating habits to the improvement mainly because it took sometime for the hip to improve. Your video and physical demonstration has convinced me that lifestyle and eating habits can solve a
    joint problem, like mine. So thank you for the info and the demonstration. I will definitely keep on looking for great advice to improve myself. Regards

    Hi Andrew, for 12 years I suffered through the pain of bone on bone in both knees. I had tried literally everything I could find to avoid TKR surgery, however last year I couldn’t take the pain any longer and had the Stryker system of artificial joints installed. The result has been wonderful as I can now join in and enjoy family stuff again. I am a tradesman of 45 years and thought I ate very sensibly, i thought that I had just worn my joints out from being very active. Anyway my left hip has been sore for many years as well and I was told recently that I need a hip replacement, this was devastating after what I had been through. About 4 weeks ago I came across your video regarding hip repair and at first I thought yeah right here we go another BS video but I watched and listened to your advice and decided right then to give it a go. What have I got to lose right. Let me tell you something, after 3 days I had no need for the Mobic tablets I was on, the pain in my hip was gone, I mean bloody gone. Two weeks later my wife and I stayed at my sister in laws and I said nothing about my new dietary needs as I didn’t feel comfortable requesting special food for one night. We ate pasta,lasagne,garlic bread and olive bread. Two days later I was in pain again which was a good lesson as I know you were right about the cause of inflamation. I intend to stay on the protein and see where I get oh and by the way I wake up feeling sharper and I don’t get as tired as I used to at the end of the day. Thank you

    Hello Andrew
    I am very happy that you have had such great results and talk about your issues in a manner that promotes hope for all.
    I have been having PVC issues over last 15 years. I have done the cardiologist route in the beginning but like yourself decided natural way or no way. For the majority of people with heart issues like myself I have tried and continue too try almost anything to stop these racing beats which can last from 1minute to an incredible 7 hours. Sometimes I have nothing for 1 week thinking I found a solution only to do something as simple as taking a cup out of the cupboard and bang we are away to the races(literally)
    So what’s my point, well just to those of you with similar problems there is one item that has been a major relief and that is acceptance. It comes from acknowledging that we are all unique and what works for you to any small way is worth sharing and giving us all hope . So thank for that Andrew and if someone says eat three dung beetles only found on a remote island somewhere I will most likely try it.
    Good luck to you all
    Sending love

    You had arthritis? I am a 26 year old girl and after taking a lot of corticosteroids during Covid I have avascular necrosis of the head of both femurs. I did a surgery in fact, but no hip replacement although the doctor suggested that. But there was also another option, injecting stem cells taken from my own body. After surgery I also did physiotherapy but I still have pain. I have extra weight in my body and I eat the worst foods, as I am so addicted I cannot explain it. Fast foods, pizzas, crepes, nutella, coca cola, enery drinks. Fried potatoes. Every day I eat at least one of these. And I also lead a very passive lifestyle. I did a MRI 2 months before and there was a lot of edema in both my heads of femur. The doctor who made the surgery doesn't live in my country because I was operated abroad. But your videos have given me a driven energy inside myself to change my diet and do make some exercises. I am " bullied " by my relatives about the fact that I don't walk properly due to a lot of pain in my hips, by saying me " you're not gonna get married, who marries a lady that walks like this ". I will try all your advices. I know that the foods I eat are very bad, but I hadn't had the internal force to give up on them. I find relief in them, momentarly. Although I know that these foods will have a bad impact in my hip I still cannot stop. Or better say, couldn't. I found your channel and I am currently watching every video of yours one by one. Very clear explanations. Keep up.

      Hopefully even with the open mouth you breath through the nose. Actually with close mouth, the technique is the same - relaxed jow and face,. After getting this information, I watched sofisticated marathon runners, they brith only through the nose. I shared this technique with coworker, who was physically very active, sprinter. Suddenly he's got enlarged heart got into a hospital. But he wasn't ready to give up his training. So, after gradually implementing this technique, in a few wks he felt so much better and able to continue his activities. Another guy, who couldn't achieve good results in hokey, was huffing and puffing during practice, after applying this also was able to endure long hrs of training with no problem. In short, it saves the energy, and also nose filters the air.
      Just sharing the information.

    Obviously, I was meant to "find" your video today in order to give myself hope that I CAN heal my hips. I've been feeling defeated on my healing journey, because too many people don't believe it's possible to rebuild cartilage. I have a doctor appointment in three days to try to get a prescription to replace the Prednisone that I've been on for years for pain and inflammation. I have attempted to titrate off them myself, but I can't handle the severity of the pain when my hips are cracking like a ratchet as I try walking or lean over.
    I'm not the least bit overweight and I've been eating a carnivore diet for over four years. But I never gave up dairy nor coffee with heavy cream until very recently. I believe the dairy proteins are not good for my joints and after a stint on homemade yogurt from September 2023 through into February 2024, my hips have gotten WAY worse than they were before.
    So...your video today has inspired me to not give up. My current goal is to be able to walk without pain, but being able to run would be a dream come true.
    Thank-you for your story. I'll be paying attention to your channel from now on.

    Hi Andrew, my husband (77) and I use a lot of supplements. However, we got a scare over the past week, as he started having multiple nose bleeds, caused we think by the blood-thinning properties of some of those supplements, in our case Nattokinaise. Could you do a video on how to use supplements responsibly and safely? We can't rely on family doctors to help out, as they are arrogant and uninformed. They just blast patients for not relying 100% on Big Pharma. Hence my attempt to find answers basing myself on the knowledge available on channels such as yours.
    Your content is much appreciated, as are your empowering and reassuring messages!

      You should only supplement when there is a particuler deficiency in your diet, and then be aware of the symptoms you are trying to correct, and what the possible symptoms would be of having too much. The best route is to eat the right diet up front. - Andrew

      You have to cut sugars, and ALL carbohydrates are sugars - so in addition to the obvious sweet crap, that means starches: pasta, rice, potatoes, cereals, anything with flour or pastry, bread (especially!). As a vegetarian thats harder (even worse first vegan) so apart from vegetables and nuts i guess you'll have to take supplements for a lot of minerals you'll be lacking - do you eat cheese, yoghurt, maybe eggs?

    • @shapefixer
      @shapefixer  5 місяців тому

      Of course, but it's not exactly "unnatural". Ive been a very competitive (international level) runner and cyclist my whole life, but eating badly at the same time, so eventually the daily "breaking down" started to beat the daily "repairing", with age. So now I've rebuilt, and my better nutrition enables better recovery and rebuilding. and I can run again (thouigh I prefer off-road running as asphalt pounding is particularly hard) - Andrew

    thank you for your kind reply Andrew, ill post it here because maybe you might receive the notification here (i sent you a message yesterday). I love the passion that flourish from all your videos. I have a few more questions for you. If i cant eat bread, potatos or rice and i want to make it even better, any idea on how to replace the brown rice with some other thing to make my only meal a day (i only it once) a little more interesting?
    Im having amino acids (bcaas) from Drasanvi company but it contains Sucralosa, etc. Is it ok Sucralosa, glutomine and the lemon aroma? (Since they are not pure glucose) or to make it even better should i replace this bcaas with pure “perfect amino” which does only contain the basic aminos?
    What about real curry powder, does contain sugar and carbohydrates in high levels? Or i can take it as is said to be a good antiinflamory? (Im talking about the curry powder itself nothing added)
    By the way, i dont drink alcohol but i drink a zero sugar non alcoholic german beer once a day, is it ok? Or the hopes might contain too much carbohydrates/glucose??
    And the last question is about the homeopathy, do you think that sugar water balls will affect directly to this perfect diet im trying to follow or is not too much concentrate on it? Sorry to be so pushy but im very worried about it… thank you again for your kindness!

    My DIET eggs chicken,fish and lettice spinach. You mention nuts but they have sugar😢

    • @shapefixer
      @shapefixer  2 місяці тому +1

      Cheese is fine (rather not the slimy processed kind in jars or tubes). Nuts are fine too, a lot more oil than sugar. Make sure you are getting plenty of fat and oil to compensate for the carbs, as your body changes from a sugar burner to a fat burner. After three months you probably wont even like sugar (carbs) as theyll make you hungry and your inflammation and pain can come back.

    Did you lose any range of motion in your hip at the time you were told you needed hip replacement? If so, have you regained that range of motion? I have lost much of mine in the affected hip, despite almost lifelong yoga and flexibility, still present everywhere else except for my bad hip and lower back. I have been adhering to the diet you recommend now for 2 months already and was wondering about this. I am feeling better but have a long way to go. Hip mobility or flexibility seems to be an indicator of hip osteoarthritis as the Dr and fysiotheripists always look at this first, here anyway. Can you share what you know about this please?

    • @shapefixer
      @shapefixer  2 місяці тому

      Hi Sheri, there are a few issues: 1) is there extra bone growth around the joint? If so it could be getting in the way ; 2) the supporting soft tissues, especially tendons, could have shortened over time with restricted movement, and are inflamed. I definitely had this problem and it was only later when I found out about the issue of weakened glute muscles and tendons being rubbed against the bad joint due to bones being misaligned, that i was able to fix it. Watch my videos on exercises that address glute/butt strength. Im also making one in the next couple of days about tendon issues limiting the range during/after arthritis

    • @sheriyoung9298
      @sheriyoung9298 2 місяці тому

      my x-rays a few years back suggested a possible impingement because the fem head is now deeper than it once was but I have a feeling it more like your second suggestion...have been working on my gluts for a long time and I do see some improvement since increasing protein and going low carb, plus loads of supplements and also very important is not overdoing the exercise and giving my body the time to recover between strength training and walking. When I stopped taking NSAIDs for pain it was difficult at first but now I slowly see improvement and know when to stop and rest. I hope this helps someone else too. Thank you for the great videos and for your response.

    • @shapefixer

      Probably not as the impact slows the healing process. Steady exercise with range of motion and constant pressure (rather than impact) is better. The fact that you can actually run means you will heal so keep positive!

    • @shapefixer
      @shapefixer  5 місяців тому

      Nandrolone is an anabolic steroid used in the treatment of osteoporosis to stimulate bone growth. Arthritis is damage to cartilage, not bone; and very often the bone starts to grow inappropiately into the spaces where the cartilage has been damaged, resulting in spurs, so anything to stimulate the laying down of additional bone tissue would complicate the issue - Andrew

    hi, I'm sorry to contradict your video (like so many videos on the internet) even if you explain the problem in a clear and fluid way, but if the hip problem is present both due to wear of the cartilage and the bone spurs on the neck of the femur there is no 'there is no other solution than surgical replacement. Personally, I have been living with pain in my left hip for 5 years (I am now 51 and have done a lot of sport). I have tried almost all the physiotherapy solutions, cartilage supplements and recently regenerative medicine (PRP infiltrations and mesenchymal cells) with the result = 0 So much money wasted, so much time wasted and so many years wasted believing that it could be cured. I hope in the future that medical research will find an alternative to cartilage repair so as to perform surgical interventions only in cases of absolute necessity. Thank you best regards

    • @shapefixer
      @shapefixer  6 місяців тому +2

      No I'm not saying that at all, I'm pretty sure I had some, and definitely some stem cells, because as you say, you cant grow anything from nothing. If you watch the original video (this one you just watched was really just to prove that I can in fact now run again) you will see it was something I attempted rather that agreeing to surgery as a first option, and it worked. So I encourage other people to try the same. There are never any guarantees, but the hundreds of comments on the main video include a very high number of people who seem to have acheived the same thing - some hips (like me), and some knees. It's really interesting. - Andrew
