For everyone who is worrying that he couldn't go back through time. 4:12 time starts to go back, which means the machine somehow worked. 4:24 now he is on the photo with his family. At first he wasn't in the picture with his family. That means he definitely went back through time and spent his life with his family.

From what I’ve gathered the father was a scientist working on time travel and in the process of conducting trials within his home accidentally caused a fire which killed his family. Hence the mystery fire in the paper. The reason the father wasn’t found is because he was thrown forth into the future. He wasn’t physically in that timeline to be found. His experiment worked hence his knowledge of time travel. The math he’s doing is to find a way to reverse time instead of pushing forward into the future. In the end our guy makes it home to save his family and prevent the original incident👍🏾
Love the guys actor in this portrayal of someone searching to find his connection back to the one he loves. He believes in his cause so much. It breaks my heart while also helps me acknowledge the brilliance of those who struggle in this way.
Looking at him is like looking at the ones I know personally who struggle with homelessness and a visual form of mental illness (not to say there aren't those that have undiagnosed or non-visual mental illness[es]). This is just my account of my journey.

I actually have messaged both Nico and Vinz on Instagram, and they just got done a 10 year anniversary of Am I Wrong tour in Norway this past April of '24. They also are re-releasing "Am I Wrong" in Norwegian, as a tribute to their fans there. This version of this song is scheduled to be released in 1 week's time.

So...here is an explanation.
In 2010, he tried to build a time machine. Well, it failed, resulting in the machine burning to flames and his family dying. That also explains why it says they died in a "Mysterious Fire", because no one thought time machines existed.
In 2013, 3 years later, he wants to try to rebuild the machine to go back with his family. It works this time, and he travels to when his family dies. But if you notice, he isn't going back so he can avoid death, it is so he can die with his family. That explains why once he finishes his time travel, he is burning.

I got to admit i never really had too much sympathy for the homeless i always thought they had themselves to blame kind of but then when i got stranded somewhere i had to spend a night on the street and got talking to a homeless guy and he told me his story and it nearly brought me to tears so i bought him a mcdonalds and just sat and listened to him for a couple of hours, completely changed my thinking.
You never know one's story that's why it's important to give with an open heart (give your time, food, etcetera). Volunteer at your local homeless shelter. You will be amazed of the people you will come acids there. 😊 God bless!

Just so everyone who is still confused can understand, the picture being repaired means that "yes" he saved his family from the fire before it was too late and the fire on the time machine was probably because the sails on it caught fire.

My theory is that his family died and he wanted to go back to the past to see them again, so he built a time machine. The picture of his family was something for him to remember them by. He finishes the time machine and it catches fire so he either suffocates or burns inside the time machine and goes to heaven to stay with his family forever. Since he is with his family once again, he is restored or put back into the picture! Reply your theories :)
