From what I’ve gathered the father was a scientist working on time travel and in the process of conducting trials within his home accidentally caused a fire which killed his family. Hence the mystery fire in the paper. The reason the father wasn’t found is because he was thrown forth into the future. He wasn’t physically in that timeline to be found. His experiment worked hence his knowledge of time travel. The math he’s doing is to find a way to reverse time instead of pushing forward into the future. In the end our guy makes it home to save his family and prevent the original incident👍🏾

Love the guys actor in this portrayal of someone searching to find his connection back to the one he loves. He believes in his cause so much. It breaks my heart while also helps me acknowledge the brilliance of those who struggle in this way.
Looking at him is like looking at the ones I know personally who struggle with homelessness and a visual form of mental illness (not to say there aren't those that have undiagnosed or non-visual mental illness[es]). This is just my account of my journey.
P. S. Me feeling that I had to write that last comment of not wanting to offend also helped me realize that we live in a society where people can't tell their story without offending anyone. Thanks for listening (reading).

god i feel sorry for the homeless, i wish could help them all.
IKR... I never really thought about their story...
I got to admit i never really had too much sympathy for the homeless i always thought they had themselves to blame kind of but then when i got stranded somewhere i had to spend a night on the street and got talking to a homeless guy and he told me his story and it nearly brought me to tears so i bought him a mcdonalds and just sat and listened to him for a couple of hours, completely changed my thinking.
You never know one's story that's why it's important to give with an open heart (give your time, food, etcetera). Volunteer at your local homeless shelter. You will be amazed of the people you will come acids there. 😊 God bless!

So...here is an explanation.
In 2010, he tried to build a time machine. Well, it failed, resulting in the machine burning to flames and his family dying. That also explains why it says they died in a "Mysterious Fire", because no one thought time machines existed.
In 2013, 3 years later, he wants to try to rebuild the machine to go back with his family. It works this time, and he travels to when his family dies. But if you notice, he isn't going back so he can avoid death, it is so he can die with his family. That explains why once he finishes his time travel, he is burning.
Sorry if this too complicated, but literally no one gets it! For those of you who do, thank you for actually using logic haha. :P

Now, he has nothing because he is unknown to the future. No one knows him, nothing at all. Like what his cardboard said “A time traveller”.
Then he did everything he can to go back in time, trying to build a time machine which he then succeed.

The man looks at pictures of his family, which of course says that he misses them. Then a flames incident is shown on a newspaper, with the father yet to be found. Then later when he tries to get back in time with the time machine the time machine bursts in flames, but the torn/burnt picture implies that he made it back with his family. When I watched the video again I realized it was his family that died on the flames incident on the newspaper article, and he is the missing dad. It heavily implies that when he time traveled he set his family on fire unintentionally, so he was trying to get back to erase that. He managed not only to go back to his timeline, but also to erase the whole flames incident.
