In the process of swapping out most of my optics to Nightforce. First one was a NX8 4-32, very happy only regret was that I could not afford the ATACR.
Owned quite a few Vortex optics, the warrantee is great when they stop working correctly , but who wants to deal with the spent ammo and time to identify it in the first place..
Shooting a 300PRC with the 220grainers in sub -20 temperatures won't hold windage on second PSTII now. Nobody wants to shoot up the area before a hunt to verify and reset a Zero they had set just the day before.
NF is expensive but worth it.

Expensive is buying a scope that doesn’t deliver performance as promised. NF delivers so I do not consider them to be expensive.
But...but....but.......muh Vortex customer service. I will never own another brand of scope other than NF. Even put one on my pellet gun and it's - 🙌

I own a couple Nightforce optics and they're freakin tough... I dropped my rifle down about 40 feet of mountain side picked out a spot on a rock about 100 yards out and drilled it picked out another spot about 300 yards out dialed up and drilled it to. My rifle and optic was good and scuffed up but never lost zero. I was honestly thinking my hunt was over something had to have broken so the fact it was still zeroed blew my mind.
But bang the ocular end and look for shift as that's where the ret and inner lense tube is. The test is flawed in that respect.
The Spyderco booth! I made that thing! Did all the CAD/CAM and a lot of design for it. Then lost that job in March 2020 thanks to all that nonsense... Did work on a ton of booths at SHOT. Kinda miss it...
They build them tough at Nightforce 😀👍.
I have for a long time wanted an NF scope. As a Vietnam veteran, I cannot buy an NF scope when there is another scope manufacturer that gives a veteran discount much higher 😅, a percentage like Vortex gives 40%, and the other optic makers higher too than NF. A long time, around 30 years.

You should be asking yourself why Vortex can take such a hit and still make a profit on your sale.
I own 6 different Nightforce scopes and wouldn't trade them for any other brand.
Can you ask if I can get that demo for a deep discount when the show is over? Please?

I got a call to go elk hunting went and bought a .338 Lapua and a Vortex scope. On site-in it blew the guts out of the Vortex on the second box. I thought to myself a warranty is cool and all but what good does it do when you actually need your gun and the scope failed you because it's made in China. Returned it that day for an ATACR and haven't turned back. I don't need a w/e warranty I'm good with lifetime and am supporting USA. Won't touch a Vortex product again.
That's not saying a whole lot. Which Vortex was it? If you put a cheap scope on your rifle then yea, it's gonna blow up. Not all of their optics are made in China dummy
Does the floating dot come on a MOA scope?
My one dislike about the NF MOA scopes (I shoot MOA), they do not have the same reticle system as the mil scopes.. they still have the solid cross in the middle, at 32 magnification in FFP it does a lot to block out a very small target

That is a all I run. They even have different price points. I do not buy there most expensive model. I will run a box test by firing and moving the impact in the shape of a box and then shoot at the first hole in the paper again. It still shot .250 MOA. Are there better scopes out there, probably. But just to make a change is not cost effective when it works for many years so far.

Love my Nightforce. It's ruined me for all my other scopes. I do have 1 complaint that is rather annoying. On their mag throw lever on the NX8 4-32 model, the positioning of it, plus the length of it for any 90 degree bolt throw which is most guns, it makes it so you can't run the bolt on anything higher than 28x, or else the bolt hits the lever. I contacted NF about this, they confirmed this is an issue and they are well aware of it, but have no intentions of addressing it what so ever. Not even by making a shortened version of the throw lever. Pretty annoying that I have to machine my own lever to remedy this issue NF acknowledges and won't fix. Other than that, I absolutely love the scope and have no complaints.
First or second focal plane? I have the 2.5x20 in FFP. At 32, I am thinking a FFP will be too dominating at 32X. Your thoughts? Hunting and 1200 yard shitcannery.
@@TheNutzandBoltz FFP. I mean first off for hunting I'll never take it that high haha. Probably never over 18 max. I only go that high when I'm shooting at steel off of a bench. Ya the lines are a big bigger at that magnification, but I haven't found it to be an issue what so ever. I'm so glad and have no regret's what so ever I went with FFP. I'll go with FFP every time I can now. For me the real issue is at the low end of the magnification. A lot of scopes have the reticle shrink way to much so you can't even see it at low mag. No issues with this one.

That's what everyone says.....until the vortex shits the bed in the middle of a hunt or a match and then you get to experience their world class customer service. I don't know if Nightforce even HAS a customer service department. I have at least 8 of their scopes and honestly I don't know if anyone would pick up the phone at their customer service line. The good news is, odds are I'll never have to find out.
Lol. Night and day difference here. Drop a vortex on concrete 3x and shoot it. Point of impact will be off 4”. Do the same to, Nightforce and it won’t shift.
Interesting, Vortex got a competitive contract to supply the Army with 250,000 scopes over the next ten years. Source, accurateshooter. Vortex has won many Bench Rest and Palma competition s. I own both, Nightforce and Vortex, both cost over $3,000..and both are good. Never had a problem with either. I do my own precision loads. These days that's 300 PRC. For the price, I prefer Vortex. And apparently, so does the US Army.I also like Kahles, and may get one, I like the 525i. But hey I know the USA also uses Night Force. Happy precision shooting.
Vortex can't do this. If your gun has slightly too much recoil you will lose zero according to Vortex and that is within spec.
