I think it's something that a lot of neurodivergant people realize. Not everyone can be much, very few neurodivergant people are the same. But for people that do have needs, have schedules, have routines, and can't deal with certain things, they understand how much their putting on other people. It's why a lot of neurodivergent are introverts, and prefer to live alone, even when it kills them inside. Hollywood wants to portray neurodivergents as almost an eccentric prodigal character trait. They're geniuses, but act odd, nothing wrong with acting odd, right? And there isn't, not innately. But many people wouldn't describe it as "odd", they would describe it as "exhausting" and "uncomfortable". And there's no education that can fix that. There's nothing people can do short of a societal change. I know that growing up, I had no friends, even though I socialized a lot. None of the other kids wanted to be around me. And my family had difficulty just trying to relate to me. And I'm very low on the spectrum, I wasn't diagnosed until I was already an adult. And it isn't the world's fault for not catering to me, treating me like I'm special. It's just very unfortunate that I was given this hand. I'll never blame the kids that ostracized me. Made me feel like a loser, and unaccepted. Which developed into feelings of inadequacy and unending stress. Because I know that in their position, a kid, not really aware of their surroundings and how they could affect people, I would have done the same thing.
