#1 creating everything with your own hands isn’t a mistake. Some of us just have to do it to get it done, especially if we cannot afford to outsource. #2 you don’t charge ENOUGH for your items and that actually does more hurt to other handmade sellers as it makes others have to cheapen their worth too.
Hey! I just want to clarify that I never once said that making products by hand is a mistake. My main point was that you shouldn’t feel like you have to do everything yourself, whether that’s making products, marketing, packing orders, etc. It's all about finding a balance and asking for help where you need it. Personally, I make the majority of my products by hand, and I genuinely enjoy that part of the process. I definitely understand that many of us, including myself, have to do things ourselves, especially when we can’t afford to outsource.
As for pricing, I appreciate your feedback. Pricing is always a tricky topic, and I’m always trying to find the right balance. I’ll take your comment into consideration as I continue to evaluate my pricing. My intention is never to undervalue handmade work but to make my products accessible while also sustaining my business.😊
People have the right to price their items however they want. You don't know everyone's process
I can totally relate to the inventory situation.. I am horrible at it but its gotten better 😊
I'd love a part two please. I'm looking into starting an etsy shop so any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated
As a bad business owner who just started, this video gives me hope 😂 great video girl! ❤
Thank you so much for your great video ❤ I'm especially still working on my marketing skills. Good luck for everything that may come!
While you were printing all your own greeting cards, what printer did you use? I'm struggling with inventory management, needing to order cards in bulk, but then not selling through the quickly enough, or when trying a new style, not knowing if it will sell right way... think it could be valuable to have the option to print on-off greeting cards!
This is fascinating, I love it ☺☺
I would totally appreciate a part two please and thank you.
What a great video! Please do part 2, super informative 😄
Very helpful, thank you.
Hi Milly,
Thanks for this video, really helpful 🥰 Please can you tell me how you go about outsourcing cards? I dont have a clue and Im dreading this Christmas keeping up with orders! Thank you. Xx
I tried outsourcing, but it never comes out the way I want it to. I always feel bad about going back and forth with the manufacturer, so I really need to get over that. Maybe in the future I'll feel more comfortable outsourcing, but I think I'll wait until my shop is consuming a lot of my time .. Similar to what happened to you.
That sounds like a good plan to me! 😊 Thank you so much for watching x
pricing was my biggest mistake when i started. i didnt properly counted the materials of shipping and packaging and my bf had a look at it and was shocked at my mistakes ahahah
im still bad at inventory management because i do markets back to back so keeping the website up to date is an impossible task ahah
but my final boss struggle is definitely marketing.... besides markets, which im good at, i am terrible at social media and it demotivates me that when i post consistently i loose followers xD
So helpful Milly, I am still struggling to set up my shopify store. I just don’t know why I can’t get my head around it. I bought my domain and so far I have used it. It’s so frustrating. Anyway.. it’s a yes to a part 2 from me 😊
I also had this issue with Shopify! It just didn’t seem intuitive in the least. I ended up moving my domain over to SquareSpace and it makes wayyyy more sense to me 🤷🏻♀️
Good advice Milly. Do you think it would be worth setting up an email list if you don't have your own website yet? I only use Etsy at the moment so could perhaps add the link on my link tree and on thank you cards maybe? xxx
@@thesugarbell 10000%!! 🙌🏻 The sooner you start the better! Yes that sounds like the perfect solution, you could even pop a little card in your orders with a QR code on to sign up to your newsletter to get a discount on their next order to encourage customers to sign up too, as an example! 💞 Omnisend is totally free for up to 250 email subscribers too so I’ll leave the link here again if you’d like to sign up using my link, I’d really appreciate it!! ☺️ your.omnisend.com/daMLBq
Thank you so much Milly. The one that really spoke to me is the email newsletter so with that said, would you be willing to help us how to start the first newsletter and what it should say? How often do you send one out? Thanks again! :) -Bev
Hey Bev! Omnisend actually have a huge bunch of tutorials on their website and on UA-cam, and when you set up your newsletter and an automated welcome email workflow, it’s super easy to create the email and personalise it with your brand colours etc! 😊 Definitely have a look at their UA-cam tutorials once you’ve got set up and you’ll find it super easy. I will also show the process of this in an upcoming blog for you, too. 😊💕 Thanks for watching! X
@@printsbymilly thank you Molly, I will go check them out. I look forward to yours too. 😊
Do you recommend Wix to open your own website ? Or Wordpress ?
I’ve not used either of those, I’ve only ever used Shopify which I would highly recommend! ☺️
@@printsbymilly Is it expensive to open a Shopify store ?
@@soninim I believe they only charge £1 for your first month on Shopify as a trial so you can see if you like it or not, and then their monthly plans start from around £25 per month 💕
hello, thanks for the great video,im planning to start making planners but im still scared, please if possible you can do a video on planners.new subscriber here from kenya
Thank you so much for watching! ☺️💕 I don’t sell planners myself at the moment but it’s definitely something I’d love to do in the future so I’ll keep you posted! X
Hi beautiful awesome work❤💟❤💟💝💟❤💞❤💞
