- Diana Vishneva - For its 40th anniversary and as Christmas approaches, the Prix de Lausanne invites you to discover or rediscover its universe through a video Advent calendar.
On each day in December you will be able to discover a selection of special episodes of the Prix's history, original interviews of ballet stars and all sorts of surprises.
She is absolutely STUNNING! Love her then and now :)
She looks so happy in dancing!!
She is the best ballerina of her generation, and will one day earn the title "Prima Ballerina Assoluta."
Some people consider her to be the greatest ballerina of all time. As she approaches age 40 she is still performing. She can be seen in NYC , in June, 2016, at ABT in Romeo and Juliet, Metroplolitan Opera House.
I am not a ballet dancer. But this looks so good to me. It feels like a super clean dance. Must be her execution of the movements
.
All ready such amazing dancer at such young age ! Amazing Vishneva...
This dancer is my big idol, she is so beautiful!!
i think it was 94,probably the strongest year ever for prix de Lausanne, almost all the finalists were outright winners.the boys were really strong that year
Аж мурашки по коже, от восторга!
She was so wonderful already then...she combines excellent technique with real actress devotion to the character she is performing..its hard for me to ENJOY other ballerinas as much after watching her...and this wasnt of course her top performance...
100%
Even then, simply dazzling!!!
The thin bashing is honestly getting out of hand. You wouldn't bash someone heavier for their weight, so why bash someone lighter? Vishneva can dance and she does so beautifully and cleanly. Isn't that what watching dance is about? I find her enjoyable in this and in all other performances.
More important, she’s been having a long and successful career, still dancing lead roles at the age of 40. That’s only possible with a healthy body and mind. She has been dancing all over the world, and she is also a mother and appearently a happy person, if you watch her interviews and her public appearances she is so enthusiastic about dance.
These stereotypes about anorectic and sick ballet dancers will probably never die.
@@mathildewesendonck7225 Yeah exactly. You can't run on empty fuel while your body breaks down from malnutrition. That's just pure, simple logic.
If the male partner has to lift a beautiful 200 lb female partner, he might find himself on the ground under her because the gravitation would pool down a heavier lady-ballerina vs well toned healthy lower weight female partner. In Romeo and Juliet ballet the lifting of the Juliet reaches a high number. Considering that body builders are not the male dancers -both male and female dancers have to stay at a low weight- high in good quality muscles but low on fat. If you can do it in. Healthy way , it’s I great job done. If any dancers develop Eating disorder they should seek a professional help.
I think people don’t get that some people are naturally very thin. I was extremely thin with all of my bones sticking way out and I ate a lot. I know it was unusual because no one looked like I did but it wasn’t my fault.
素敵です❤
В любом образе великолепна!
Божественная!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
I really wish people would stop bashing on Russian dancers for their weight. In America, people of any body type can dance and pursue a professional dance career. That is most definitely NOT the case in Russia. Russian academies select girls based on physique and natural ability and for these reasons, not surprisingly, they consistently produce the strongest and best dancers. Yes they are thin but being thin is by no means synonymous with being weak or unhealthy, especially for Russian dancers who are already genetically predisposed to being thin naturally (which is why they are even admitted into the ballet academies in the first place). American dance companies tend to have a wider range of body types which is why Russian girls may seem to be on the extreme end of the weight spectrum but by NO means does that mean they starve themselves, promote, or participate in any unhealthy habits. Different set of cultural standards people, it's a thing.
"consistently produce the strongest and best dancers" I agree that this is true and important for dance, but dance is much more than for entertainment.
Somebody has actually properly said it
I find the strongest and best dancers were at the time of Soviet Russia.. and dancers were a lot less thin then.
Yes but not for Diana. She was on an extreme end compared to her peers.
@@shinemendwoor Cough cough Svetlana Zakharova. She makes Vishneva look less thin by comparison
Thanks for uploading ! It's such a precious clip !
so clean and lovely~!
Perfect performance 👍💕💙👏✨
She has such a pretty figure!
perfection!
déjà une grande ballerine
I've seen this variation done by several world class ballerinas and believe this is the absolute best performance. Even better when she did it again (she was wearing a blue costume then). The only thing working against her is her youthfulness, but other than that, I haven't seen a better interpretation.
What’s the name of this variation?
@@jamietp I believe this is from Coppelia. It's extremely popular and always done. Diana takes it to a different level and she was only 17 when this was recorded.
@@jamietp its Swanilda’s variation Act 3. She was 17,5 here. They also mentioned that it was they only Swanilda at that competition that year.
marvelous !!! I love you!!!
super❤️❤️❤️💚💚💚💚
she started dancing while in the wing
진짜 잘한다.
Her ballet is feathery and excellent . Are you who watch this video a person of what country ?
Wow
Diana has always been naturally thin, but she is all muscle! i love how she picked a very simple variation
Gaby Itzel Quirós simple?! This variation is so hard and long. what the heck are you talking about??
Omg why the camera guy kept cutting her feet ?
Y Z Incompetence!
@@marcmomus lol yeah... but still had to say it / ask it haha
Dimension issue… the original video was taller so fit most screens at that time
@@PeacherLiz ooooohhh ok
Every inch the ballerina.
She looks much better now, that she built up all those strong muscles. She was too thin, a bit over the edge, even for a ballerina, even for me, who thinks that the best body type for a ballerina is the super slender one (yes, anyone can do ballet, but when I pay to watch a performance I want to see a long, very slim body that looks best in a tutu). That means bones peaking out of her flesh, not very aestetically pleasing, but I doubt she was starving or anything, maybe just young and not fully developed yet and exhausted with intensive training. I can't say the same about Zakharova, being that tall doesn't make her look akward when being very thin, you expect tall people to look slender. But who would have thought this scary thin child would develop into that gourgeous woman, probably one of the most beautiful ballerinas in the world?
What variation is this???
I've often wondered why there is a lack of Russian contestants. I've been watching annually for nearly 10yrs and throughout that I've only seen a handful; I would think there would be more considering the wealth of talented dancers but maybe they are more attracted to the various IBCs?
this competition is not so prestigious for them
The Russians are mostly busy training their dancers in perfecting the basics and building on increasing the actual steps you do each year you progress. You’d never see a 13 yr old Mariinsky or 14 yr old Mariinsky student doing Italian Fouettes because the step is too technically challenging to do correctly at that age - same with super fast pique turns or the sustained repetitive high extension on the relevée with extended leg (can’t remember the name of the step) So many American kids (or teachers and parents) want to be impatient and learn ballerina repertory and “perform” variations that are way to difficult. They practice, practice , practice and learn these variations (one a year) by rote. Yet when they go back to class they fall apart because they missed months of necessary technique classes to jump the deep water before knowing how to swim. It’s an utter lack of discipline and patience. Instant gratification..
"17 ans et demi :-) "
omg her waist
What piece is that?
pero esto no es del 2012! Vishniova gano ese prix en 1994, entonces tenía 16 años
what is the act of this variation¿? Coppelia: Swanilda . Act ¿?
She was 17 and a half, they say it at the beginning of the video
Suprising thing is, she has a injured ankle 1 week ago.
17 years old
だってなんかもうコンクールじゃないもん。ヴィシニョーワのガラ公演って感じだもん。
Подскажите пожалуйста как эта партия называется
Вариация Сванильды из балета "Коппелия"
@SDABdance They said 17.5yo
One must take into account at this time she was a student representing the Vaganova Academy where abuse is notoriously rife and weight must be kept under 50kg for a girl of 5' 7". After leaving that institution she literally grew as a dancer - for me the most amazing of all time.
The first dancer looks like Maria Khoreva, you don't think so?
she's 17 in this video.
What year was this?
1994
Exquisite but she looks better now that she's gained some weight. She was too thin at 17. I believe she got the highest marks ever awarded in her graduation year.
It is known that dancers gain weight after leaving ballet school and starting their professional career. It's partly because they become adults, their bones continue to develop due to physical effort (people seem to forget these are athletes, not models), they age, and they have to change their diet because of the demanding schedule. In school, the pressure is high not to be overweight so you can be easily partnered with boys that didn't develop enough back strength yet. It's not the case in professional ballet companies. Those guys are forces of nature.
I was this thin at 17. Nothing wrong with that especially for a ballet dancer
che musica e' la sigla del filmato?
La danza spagnola dello Schiaccianoci
good god is she thin here! but stunning performance indeed... nevertheless she looks healthier now :-)
This is not a simple variation!!!!
