Week by week Aiden’s stock goes up in my mind for putting up with the rest of them. The fact that he stoop up for himself on the conversation about data tracking gives me joy.

The Yard is great because, more than anything, it feels like a group of guys who genuinely care about each other get to share their interests and, often, weird experiences. They also respect interjections without fighting for talking time, whereas with other podcasts egos get in the way and there tends to be a dominant speaker. Very few podcasts have this energy where it feels like you're chilling right there with them. It's one reason why even the highly disjointed and chaotic ad reads are so successful, imo. Their personalities gel so well. Btw, I like that Slime learns about the guest with us because I think it can have a grounding effect on the guest and opens up the questioning a bit more
Idk if I should feel validated or wrong for having the exact same thought as Aiden when it comes to YT comments. We don’t expect them to respond, and the fact that Slime will come and dice us all up in the subreddit/twitter is something so new to the meta.

As a librarian, the act of putting your eyeballs to pages and reading books isn't better than listening to audiobooks. Sure, you can't learn to read via solely audiobooks, but Ludwig knows how to read. The real skill is in reading comprehension, being able to understand the book, and listening to audiobooks is just as valid as scanning pages with your eyes.

i hate to defend Ludwig please know this, but as a librarian, audiobooks count as reading. it does not matter how you consume a book its reading. love the banter but this is unfortunately something that a lot of people sincerely believe and it's not cool (if you really go down the rabbithole its ableist but to be clear before someone clowns me im not calling anyone on the yard ableist for holding this view)

to clarify in case people need it: in this context reading does not mean literally reading words off a page, obviously they all have that skill. The question is are they both consuming the same information and engaging in the same kind of literacy? and the answer is yes, there is no argument for what the difference is between someone who read a book via audiobook versus reading words off a page. If you were talking to someone about the book how would you even tell the difference in how they read it without asking them? You wouldn't. You are able to process the same information, you are able to analyze and be critical of what you're reading in the same way. You are reading! Don't be ridiculous, don't belittle or discourage people's reading because you want to be pedantic about "reading".
