Salut ! Moi j'ai grandi dans les Basses-Laurentides mais j'ai passé un peu de temps dans mon enfance chez mon cousin à Prévost ainsi que chez mon oncle à Ste-Anne des Lacs. Merci d'avoir regardé cette vidéo !
What a nice, peaceful drive, with beautiful scenery and not much traffic. It really feels like wide open spaces, which we don't have too much of here in Seattle, being that we are sandwiched between two mountain ranges, and once you go east of the Cascades it's just a caste steppe--it's beautiful in its own way, but not lush like this!
Hey Drew :) .. it is ! I litterally owned the road. I like urban freeways, but sometimes I need this kind of drive once a while :D ! So, the Seattle area is pretty much like Vancouver, there is a narrow strip line along the coast where everyone are living ? I don't know much of your area to be honnest, you should take your camera and give it a try just like me ! :) Thanks for watching !
I don't drive. I like road trips, but I hate driving. The drivers here make me crazy... a lot of them come from California... you can imagine...! Seattle and Vancouver are a lot alike, yes. Seattle is only 120km south of Vancouver. But the Lower Mainland expands farther to the east than the Puget Sound region does--along the Fraser River to Abbotsford and Chilliwack and on out to Hope.
Ah ok, well I understand, it is not always for everyone Drew ! ... I am still confident enough for driving and I wish to explore more places in the coming years :) ... from what I can see about videos of California it's looks like to be indeed the free for all in Cali... passing on the left or the right, no signal etc...
Cool Video Francis. I've been trying to learn traffic circles/roundabouts and isn't that an illegal turn at the beginning at around 1:06? I have been reading that if you want to drive straight in a traffic circle you're supposed to take the inside lane in a multi-lane traffic circle, and ONLY use the outside lane if you're exiting at the very first exit out of the circle. edit: oh but looking again I see there was writing on the pavement that shows it's okay :-D
The thing to remember is you need to yield to cars on your left if you're in the right lane, so in practice it makes sense to use the right lane if you're taking the first exit, and the left for other exits. In Alberta it's perfectly legal to go all the way around a traffic circle in the right lane, providing you yield to cars on your left indicating that they are exiting the circle, but that's where most of the problems happen, so I don't know why people do it. Bus drivers have a habit of doing this in Edmonton, and they don't always yield to cars on their left! When I was learning to drive I was taught some basic 'rules' for using traffic circles. Some are actual laws, and some are guidelines, which I think causes a lot of the confusion that Albertans have with driving through circles. Basically I follow these guidelines: - when entering the circle in either lane, yield to any traffic already in the circle, you must also yield to any pedestrians crossing - do not change lanes within the traffic circle - if I'm taking the first exit I use the right lane, signal right, and yield to pedestrians crossing - if I'm taking the 2nd or a later exit, I use the left lane. Signal left to show that I do not want to take the first exit. After I pass the exit before the one I want to exit at, I turn on my right signal to indicate I'm wanting to exit the circle. Check mirrors, shoulder check and make sure that any vehicles on my right are actually yielding to me, basically defensive driving. If it doesn't look safe to exit, I don't. Yes, they'd be in the wrong if we collided, but I'd rather miss my exit than be hit by someone. Yield to pedestrians crossing. Here's the Alberta Driver's Handbook if you're interested, the section on roundabouts and traffic circles starts on page 59. www.transportation.alberta.ca/content/docType45/Production/DriversGuidefinal2014.pdf
wow thats a real disaster waiting to happen if cars on the right lane are allowed to use any exit in Alberta. That would make using any of the inner lanes disasterous when u are trying to exit as you have to make sure all of the outter lanes are clear for u to exit.
Yup, I don't know why it's legal, but it is. It would be nice to at least see better advance signage directing motorists of the correct lane to use. The thing is, there wouldn't be any problems at all if vehicles in the right lane used the first exit only. Seems like a no-brainer to me. The circle at 142 St. and 107 Ave. is consistently in the top ten collision locations in Edmonton. Another problem with some Edmonton traffic circles is that the crosswalks are positioned too close to the exits. There should be room for a vehicle to clear the circle, THEN stop for pedestrians.
Yeah Corvettes are cool cars, I just found it on the internet :) ... I see you're from Ontario. Don't worry, I'll try to come back this year :) Thanks for Watching.
Really enjoyed this. I'm not a big fan of traffic circles at all. Lethbridge has been constructing a lot of them recently and the new arterial road known as Metis Trail in West Lethbridge features them.
Thank you my friend. Traffic circles are not as common as Europe, so I get why people are not huge fans of it. But personally, I would like to see more of them. I find them efficient and easy to use. Just think about a red light when there is absolutely no traffic, but you still have to wait ! ... that is never going to happen with traffic circles. Thanks for watching !
around Christmas, it's very nice, also...but fall will always be my favorite....
The Laurentides region is well known for its awesome fall colours indeed!
Je suis né dans les Laurentides, et j'y vais souvent. Mon rêve est d'y retourner ... Merci!

It's pretty much on the 117 that I realized how much it sucks for a national road to go in and out of Freeway mode with no traffic signs telling it.

I've actually never been to Labelle. I am missing a little bit of Route 117 from Route 105 to La Conception.
You should, they twinned the 117 as you can see, it's really doable from where you live. Thanks for watching as always!

Yes exactly, I just placed myself in the right lane unless something else indicated I was wrong lol And thanks for watching !
