When I visited New Brunswick last August, a good chunk of the North end of 185 was finished and converted to A-85, no longer used as a contraflow as seen in your video. However, the remainder of 185 was in full construction mode! Traffic on sections of the 185 had to be stopped to allow huge trucks to cross the road. Road works were still building new overpasses and bridges for the new highway. It was an impressive sight to behold! It'll still take a while to finish the job, but it's really nice to see that significant progress is being made.
This is a great video of Autoroute 85 southbound. Seeing the construction where A85 is not yet completed is very exciting!! Save more time and lives with a full 100km or about 62 mile Autoroute 85 end to end!!
You are definitely right about A-85 around Lac Témiscouata being one of the most scenic freeways in Eastern Canada. Some of that scenic appeal is also because A-85 crosses the Appalachians. Not to mention, the region has much of the same appeal as northern New England across the border to the south, namely with all those hills covered in fall foliage, albeit I would say the Canadian side can be even more scenic with the Saint Lawrence Valley and all.
I deliberately chose to visit this area in the country in the Autumn to capture the fall foliage. I have made a trek to this part of the world during several autumns during the past several years and am never disappointed.
Very beautiful fall colors. Fall is finally starting to arrive down here, the temperature is dropping and I’m all for it! Nice work on the video. It wasn’t until I looked at a map myself that I realized this is part of the TCH linking Quebec to the eastern most provinces. When passing through Edmundston the USA border was just right there. Very cool.
Thanks for the comment. This part of the world is very scenic during the autumn. It's actually pretty amazing how closely the Trans-Canada Highway follows the US border through the northern part of New Brunswick.
At Woodstock, NB, take the exit for NB 95 to head to the USA and catch Interstate 95 which will take you all the way to the South end of Miami, Florida some 3,071 km away!
Once the controlled access twinning of QC A-85 and QC R-185 is complete, you'll technically go from Windsor, ON to Halifax (via ON 401, QC A-20, QC A-85, NB 2, NS 104 and NS 102) or Arnprior to Halifax, NS (via ON 417, QC A-40, QC A-25, QC A-20, QC A-85, NB 2, NS 104 and NS 102) by using freeways in one route.
I plan on doing the whole of it once all of its parts are open by 2023. Hopefully, I'll get a better cam by then. There are some parts where I question everything (the westbound lanes in construction adjacent to QC-185 disappear and then suddenly re-appear as eastbound lanes!!? Pardon the wacky English there.) But it looks like the results are going to be pretty! The MTQ has showcased some wildlife crossings that should be under the completed road, but I wonder if there are such crossings above the road. Those are pretty cool. Happy to see you enjoyed another treck of Autoroute Claude Béchard!
Great drive! I noticed British Columbia Highway 5 has a exit number that starts with 170 rather then 0 or 1. Why does it start with 170? Seems unusual.
Wonderful music to go with the autumn foliage! Could you do screen grabs of the signage again like you used to? Especially of major interchanges like A-20 / A-85? I can pause the video and read them, but it's SO MUCH nicer when you do the screen grabs, like you used to do in SoCal vids. Merci! :)

Great roadtrip! I wasn't prepared for that fantastic view at 19:12 lol, someone should make a painting of that!

That town when freeway restarted, it has the most punctuation of any town
Most community names aren't nearly that Exciting !
Cool video love the music score added to it. New Brunswick is a very beautiful looking province especially around the Plaster Rock area.
Glad you enjoyed it
Those fall leaves are amazing
They were, thank you for the comment.
Great video, I just drove this in both directions when I drove from Halifax to Ontario and back last week.
it's a beautiful drive.

@@aurorafarley4338 no, this was filmed in the morning.
@@AsphaltPlanet1 What time have you filmed during the morning?
A nice tour through Eastern Canada. Thanks / Merci.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you.
What's interesting is that QC A-85 and NB 2 (TCH Main Route) are near the US border to Maine.
Thanks for the comment.

The lane markings are a little bit odd right now, but I'm sure they'll make sense once the first segment opens up before the snow flies this year.
@@AsphaltPlanet1 Forgot to say this: the fork interchange between A-20 and A-85 couldn't be uglier than this from sattelite view.
2023? More like 2025 or 2026.
A85 is going to be really scenic once it's done and open.
A85 is a beautiful drive.
At the beginning of the video, A20 looked surprisingly busy.
It was. I mentioned that in my commentary in the video.
Quebec is truly 'La belle province'.
Indeed it is.

Exit numbers on Hwy 5 are a continuation from Hwy 1 through the Fraser Valley.
Can't wait to see the completion of the new A-85! Do you plan to film the highway when it'll be completed?

I did.

I love autoroutes in Canadá 🇨🇦
thanks for the comment.
Autoroute 95 in Quebec
nice video you should do a french caption of it too lol
maybe one day
Very nice scenery! Quebec gets an underserved bad rep for their road quality. In recent years, their roads have improved dramatically!
Quebec still has a few less than stellar roads, but certainly A-85 isn't one of them. Thanks for the comment.
@@AsphaltPlanet1 Okay, Please get a DFW video for this week. But I'm not sure to what was coming!
Is the 185 going to be alongside the 85 when the 85 is complete.
185 will be fully supplanted by A-85.
Why?
Why haven't you been uploading for so long?
People can have a life you know - work, travel, or family commitments often take precedence
I'm on pace to upload something like 40+ videos this year. If I take a couple of weeks off that's my own prerogative.
I know this route so well my husband travelled this way for over 30 years, back and forth from Ontario to Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick.

Plan on any trips to the states since President Biden is opening the land borders to tourists ?
I don't have any definitive plans to visit the US right now, but that could change.
