Take an aerial tour of Double Negative, an earth sculpture by Michael Heizer, created Forty seven years ago on Mormon Mesa just northeast of Logandale, Nevada.
Thank you for posting. I would never have known about it otherwise. Lots of negative reviews about it and the time invested. When compared to the amount of wasted time spent on YT and watching TV, it's insignificant.
I'm torn between being awed at how cool Double Negative is and just how much effort Michael put into it, and saddened by how much time and money was "wasted." At least it seems like a waste to me. But not everyone's the same. . . it must have been extremely important to him. . . .
This seems to be the in the spirit of modern art. Whatever you atttribute artistic meaning to becomes automatically a work of art. Could be an oversized trench like this, a urinal, a can of some artists feces or whatever else that one's creative imagination can come up with. .
One mans "art" is another mans "just two holes in the ground". Fun Fact: this hole's volume is roughly the same as the pile of dead bodies 100k USD could have saved had they not spent it digging a trench literally nobody asked for. congratulations to Michael Heizer for the lasting scars hes left upon this world and all the wonderful things hes avoided doing in the process.

Wow I worked for Michael Heizer as a kid in Garden Valley Nevada

Same artist has now "wasted" $40 million on his next land art project.

beauty, subjectivity, "eye of the beholder," etc. loosen up.
Well, that didn't go liker I thought it would. I thought it would be like that Star Wars scene of flying through a Death Star. :D

Funner fact: those 100K$ in 1969 equate to 660,800$ today. (2020)
Same artist went bigger and wasted 40 million on a much bigger land art thing.
What a waste of money , time and life. .🤣
Unimpressive. Just more gratuitous manmade scars on nature, but not as bad as the huge vertical blight of "green" industrial wind turbines.
Music is really annoying.
"art"
Its beautiful
