It's a shame that gief will get nerfed. It's not that he is broken, it's that Gief experts and Sim experts are starting at 90% mastery while other experts need to adjust more or start from scratch. The way these characters play doesn't change all that much across games except gief no longer has green hand and I can't speak too much for Sim but he's kept most of his tools if not everything and stages are way bigger here.
