Hi, Josh- A big thank you for posting the video of your RTT build. I replicated it yesterday and it is a game changer. Couldn't of done this without you sharing your design and install tips. THANKS!!
Just have to chime in to say the exact same thing happened to me. My first setup ended in disaster because of that main winch mount and brought everything else down with it. I really appreciate the simplicity of your setup and will be implementing the 'junction' block as well. Great, simple setup. Thank you for sharing!
Oh, a tip for future visitors: Harbor Freight has a 100 ft cable for about $20 and a hand crank winch that you can use a cordless drill to make it electric for about $50 (cheaper with 20% off coupon), Ace Hardware has the junction pulleys and other pulleys for about $5 a piece. You can also re-purpose the hooks from old or cheap tie down straps. You might be able to find metal rails at Habitat for Humanity Re-Store for cheap. Adding all the misc hardware, you should be in it for less than $120.
Josh, nice job. I have the exact set up with one exception, I also have the James Baroud 270 Awning. This is the setup I know I need. This will save me so much time and allow me to use my truck when not camping. Thanks so much!
The wood wont scratch the pickup as much, but rout the ubolt washers and bolts into the wood do they are sunken, then no scratchy. But in all, great idea
Hey Josh, I just wanted let you know that I used your design in my latest video! It turned out great! I gave you a shout-out at the end of the video and I linked your video in the description. Thanks for the help on my build! 🤙🏼
Typically, don't subscribe, but you did an excellent job of designing a nice DIY system and running through the build. Nicely done, sir! I am headed to the store now!
great idea Josh! what's your backup? do you have a second set of straps for example? also, if you have slack in the cable, I'd fold the cable back onto itself at the winch clevis hook... like you've done on the other end of the cable with the four carabiner shackles.
Sorry to be offtopic but does someone know a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my password. I appreciate any help you can give me
@Krew Crosby I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Hey Josh - Thanks for the videos - Are you running stock springs with all of this? I see you have a Decked system along with the Cap and the RTT ... Starts to add up. I'm pretty much in the same place but I've got a fridge instead of the drawers but I'm worried about the stock springs.
I am running stock springs. I've been considering swapping to the Icon +30 or 40, but less for ride height and more to improve towing. I'm so disappointed in how this thing tows. I'm also thinking about swapping in stock HD F-150 springs as I've heard they fit.
Great video Josh, I'm building one this weekend. When I pause the video and look at the junction pulley, it appears to have two wheels per pulley, the link you provided is to a single pulley. Can you please confirm if you have the two cables from each side running into one wheel? Thanks so much for posting this!
Yeah, that's what I did. I suppose I could have done each cable through a separate pulley, but then it would have some weird angles it was pulling from when the hook came close to the junction. Good luck! Post a link to some pics!
@@joshsgarage1545 Also never saddle a dead horse, meaning never clamp on the cut end, always the longer side. Basically the bolts go on the long side of the rope.
Hey Razz, if you click the "show more" above in the description I list out the parts. The part you're talking about is the junction pulley. There's a link to it on amazon. I was also able to find these at Lowe's.

I came here from TJ of Kayak USA for your expertise in making a lift for a roof top tent.

upvoting because, necessity is the mother of invention.

Great inspiration for a project I am working on... and the truck doesn't show dirt at all. Cheers
I've been looking at lots of designs. I like yours, the best. Thank you for sharing your update.
Thanks for this very helpful information
Awesome Vid, thanks for sharing! Shopping list is immensely helpful... many thanks.
Dude very genius setup!
Have you thought about using the Garage opener to lift ? Then
Chain up once to top height?.
Great i'm going to try this out
Awesome setup. You answered a question I had on whether the rack on the truck cap would be able to hold the weight or not.
Great Job,⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very cool 👍🏻👍🏻
Josh, you said you used 6” lag bolts, but what size were they? Thanks for all the tips!
THIS IS SO COOL!! 🤩
Why thank you!

What thickness are the cables? The link in your description is now giving an error.
Great Job thanks,⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Josh, I am impressed that your roof luggage rack is strong enough to hold the weight of the camper shell. Do you know what luggage rack system it is?

@Krew Crosby it worked and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out !
@Ibrahim Malcolm Glad I could help xD
What type of quick release lock system are you using for the Tent on the rack?
It's the Yakima launchpad

Need you to build this for me too lol
I think I would have used unistrut on the ceiling. Other than that I like the design.
The wire clamps are called saddle clamps.
Thanks man. I couldn't think of the right name.

Josh do you have a parts list?
What roof rack is that? Looking for something quick release for my topper
Hey Josh, what type of truck cap do you have for this build?
Hey James, it's a Snugtop for the Ford Raptor
What are the firsts two pulleys called that are mounted flat?? I can’t find them anywhere??

How did you wire your winch
Not sure what you are asking. The winch cable came pre-wound on the winch. On the electrical side, the winch came pre-wired with a 120v outlet plug.
You should put foam noodles on wood
Spider-Man approved.
dude is stoned
